  • Purpose : This study was performed to distinguish the muscle activation of vastus medialis and biceps femoris through open and closed kinetic chain exercise. Methods : 31 healthy male and female students in Daegu Health College were participated in this study. All subjects were conducted three types open and closed kinetic chain exercises to examine muscle activity during the last four seconds using the sEMG system. Collected EMG data were normalized using the maximal voluntary isometric contraction(MVIC). Results : MVIC of each muscle was showed significantly increased(p<0.5). In the case of open chain exercise, the type 3 exercise most increased than type 2 and 3 exercise in vastus medialis than biceps femoris muscle. The closed chain exercise presented type 6 exercise most increased than type 4 and 5 exercise in biceps femoris than vastus medialis. Conclusion : This study finally proved that muscle activity which maintains stability of knee differ from depending on the types of exercises. Therefore, the combination of the two chain exercises is believed to greatly contribute to increments in muscle activity.

  • Purpose: We were to obtain the basic data for studying kinetic visual acuity through the comparative analysis in kinetic visual acuity, visual acuity, refractive error, pupil size, and hand reaction time for college students. Methods: We had tested the kinetic visual acuity, visual acuity, refractive error and hand reaction time using the kinetic visual acuity tester (KOWA AS-4A), the hand reaction time program and auto-refractometer for thirty-nine male and same female optometry students with more than +0.1 LogMAR visual acuity in both eyes. And the results were examined gender differences of kinetic visual acuity and the factors correlation. Results: In the measured values of male, pupil size were 6.00 mm, hand reaction time 0.23 msec, refractive error -1.66 D, visual acuity -0.07, kinetic visual acuity 0.59 and pupil size 5.86 mm, hand reaction time 0.24 msec, refractive error -2.08 D, visual acuity -0.02, kinetic visual acuity 0.46 in female. It was significant difference for kinetic visual acuity values but other factors were not. The kinetic visual acuity and left visual acuity had the highest correlation, r=-0.406. The kinetic visual acuity indicated more excellent values in the case of increasing visual acuity and decreasing myopia amount. Conclusions: It was able to see that male college students were better than female for kinetic visual acuity and the visual acuity were related to kinetic visual acuity.

  • In order to study the seasonal variation of kinetic and potential energy of residual flow field In Suyoung Bay of Korea, we calculated Its energy budget and compared It with the tidal energy there. The potential energy shows the large value In winter and spring and the small one In summer and early autumn when the density stratification Is developed. The kinetic energy of residual flow varies seasonally and the seasonally averaged kinetic energy of residual flow per unit area is 6.4$\times$$10^{-4}ergs s^{-1}cm^{-}2$. It Is mainly governed by the density-driven current with the exception of that In November when the kinetic energy of tide-induced residual current is larger than those of density-driven current and wind-driven current. An averaged traction of the kinetic energy of tide-Induced residual current, wind-driven current and density-driven current, which are the major components of residual flow, is 29.1%, 3.4%, 67.5%, respectively, to the kinetic energy of residual flow, The fraction of kinetic energy of residual flow, potential energy and tidal energy per unit area is 1.0 : 6.7$\times$$10^3$: 8.2$\times$$10^4$ respectively.

  • A New kinetic scheme for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations is developed. While the conventional approach, such as KFVS scheme, employs the splitting algorithm and computes the numerical flux on the basis of the collisionless equation, the present approach employs the splitting algorithm in the evaluation of the numerical flux, where the collision effect is explicitly taken into account. However, the initial condition employed in the computation is slightly different from the conventional Chapman-Enskog NS distribution function. The present study also reveals the background of the existing kinetic schemes. such as the KFVS scheme and Gas-Kinetic BGK scheme.

  • The investigation of cure kinetics of biphenyl epoxy (4,4-diglycidyloxy-3,3,5,5-tetramethyl biphenyl)-xylok resin system with four different catalysts was performed by differential scanning calorimeter using an isothermal approach. All kinetic parameters of the curing reaction including the reaction order, activation energy and rate constant were calculated and reported. The results indicate that the curing reaction of the formulations using triphenylphosphine (TPP) and 1-benzyl-2-methylimidazole (1B2MI) as a catalyst proceeds through a first order kinetic mechanism, whereas that of the formulations using diazabicyloundecene (DBU) and tetraphenyl phosphonium tetraphenyl borate (TPP-TPB) proceeds by an autocatalytic kinetic mechanism. To describe the cure reaction in the latter stage, we have used the semiempirical relationship proposed by Chern and Poehlein. By combining an nth order kinetic model or an autocatalytic model with a diffusion factor, it is possible to predict the cure kinetics of each catalytic system over the whole range of conversion.

  • The rainfall kinetic energy equation derived in the USA has been used in South Korea to quantitatively estimate the amount of soil erosion caused by rainfall for the past 40 years. It is critical to analyze the characteristics of rainfall kinetic energy that causes soil erosion from measured storm events in the study area because the characteristics depend on climate, region, and time. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics in Seoul, South Korea, and the data of the Parsivel rain gauge measured in Seoul for 3 years was used for the current study. This study focuses on deriving the relationship between rainfall kinetic energy and rainfall intensity among the data measured by the Parsivel. The new rainfall kinetic energy equation in Seoul is proposed and compared with the previous equations used in South Korea.
