In this paper, we propose a 2D-FE model in single impact with combined physical factors to obtain a unique residual stress by shot peening. Applied physical parameters consist of elastic-plastic deformation of shot ball, material damping coefficients, strain rate, dynamic friction coefficients. As a kinematical parameter, there is impact velocity. Single impact FE model consists of 2D axisymmetric elements. The FE model with combined factors showed converged and unique distributions of surface stress, maximum compressive residual stress and deformation depth. Further, in contrast to the FE models with rigid shot and elastic deformable shot, FE model with plastic deformable shot produces residual stresses very close to experimental solutions by X-ray diffraction. We therefore validated the 2D FE model with combined peening factors and plastic deformable shot. This FE model will be a base of the 3D FE model for residual stresses by multi-impact shot peening.

Transplanting accuracy of a rice transplanter mainly depends on the trajectory of the hoe for picking, conveying and transplanting of seedlings as well as the return motion. The trajectory can be decided and prescribed to be suitable in treating seedlings fur a prevailing soil condition. For the purpose of the transplanting accuracy, the design of a transplanting mechanism would be carried out using a planetary-gear-train system instead of the four bar linkage system. In this study, a design method of transplanting mechanism is theoretically proposed by synthesizing a noncircular planetary-gear-train system fur the tool (hoe) to trace a prescribed trajectory. The method utilizes an optimization approach to decide the lengths of an arm and a tool, the inverse kinematics to figure out the configuration angles of the two links, the roll contact condition in transmitting motion between the gears, and a linearization approach to obtain the shapes of the gears. Based on the proposed method, the shapes of the gears and the lengths of the tools of the planetary-gear-train system are determined fur three prescribed trajectories. A kinematical simulation with a commercialized package program is also carried out to confirm that the gear-train system synthesized with the proposed method is able to trace the prescribed trajectory.
The purpose of this study was to compare between success and failure in bowling throw motions. For the data analysis, it was utilized by the method of three dimensional motion analysis and obtained kinematical parameters of stride, COG position and ball position through the address and release motion. The subjects of this study were three female bowling players, and obtained conclusions were as follows; Displacements of stride were not significance of success events, 4th and 5th phase stride were longer than failure. COG variation for height were less than failure, but there not significance between success and failure. The ball position of 3 th phase was lowest than other phases, and throw motions were stable by the small variations for upward downward.
This study was intended to assist athletes in having a technical understanding of the Yega motion and provide basic material for improving their competitive ability by analyzing the kinematic variable of the Yega motion during the competition of the uneven parallel bar of female gymnastics. For this purpose, the game of female gymnastics participating in the uneven parallel bar game was personally videotaped using the DLT(direct linear transformation) method. An attempt was made to make a comparative analysis of the Yega motion by dividing the final first to third places into the upper group('A' group) and the sixth to eighth places into the lower group('B' group). Based on the results of actual analysis on the scenes of actual game, the following conclusion was concluded: 1. Athletes in the 'A' group showed the shorter required time on the flight phase(P3) than counterparts in the 'B' group. 2. Athletes in the 'A' group showed the little width in the horizontal displacement of the center of gravity than counterparts in the 'B' group. But athletes in the 'A' group exhibited the somewhat greater relative vertical height of the center of the body. 3. Athletes in the 'A' group showed the greater resultant velocity at the lowest point of the center of the body(E2) and at the point in time of release(E3) compared to counterparts in the 'B' group.
We determine the rotation velocities of 108 spiral and irregular galaxies (XV-Sample) from first-order rotation curves from position-velocity maps, based on short 21-cm observations with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT). To test the usual random motion corrections, we compare the global HI linewidths and the rotation velocities, obtained from kinematical fits to two-dimensional velocity fields for a sample of 28 galaxies (RC-Sample), and find that the most frequently used correction formulae (Tully & Fouque 1985) are not very satisfactory. The rotation velocity parameter (the random-motion corrected HI linewidth: W?), derived with these corrections, may be statistically equal to two times the true rotation velocity, but in individual cases the differences can be large. We analyse, for both RC- and XV-Samples, the dependence of the slope of, and scatter in the Tully-Fisher relation on the definition of the rotation velocity parameters- For the RC-Sample, we find that the scatter in the Tully-Fisher relation can be reduced considerably when the rotation velocities derived from rotation curves are used instead of the random-motion corrected global H I linewidths. No such reduction in the scatter is seen for XV-Sample. We conclude that the reduction of the scatter in the Tully-Fisher relation seems to be related to the use of two-dimensional velocity information: accurate rotation velocity and kinematical inclination.
In this paper it is reported that a comprehensive study of the crystal structure of the fine size S-phase ($Al_2CuMg$) precipitate in Al-Cu-Mg alloy by electron diffraction experiments. The experiments involve taking the selected area diffraction pattern for a S-phase particle, simulations of the pattern based on the kinematical diffraction theory and quantitative data collection from the zone axis diffraction patterns for the comparison with calculated diffraction intensity using both the kinematical and the dynamical diffraction theory. As a result, a good fitting model of the S-phase structure turns out to be the model reported early by X-ray methods (Perlitz & Westgren, 1943), not the new model determined by HRTEM methods (Radmilovic et al., 1999).
A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a man feel as if he drove an actual vehicle. Unlike actual vehicles, the simulator has limited kinematical workspace and bounded dynamic characteristics. So it is difficult to simulate dynamic motions of a multi-body vehicle model. In order to overcome these problems, a washout algorithm which controls the workspace of the simulator within the kinematical limitation is needed. However, a classical washout algorithm contains several problems such as generation of wrong sensation of motions by filters in tilt coordination, requirement of trial and error method in selecting the proper cut-off frequencies and difficulty in returning the simulator to its origin using only high pass filters. This paper proposes a washout algorithm with new tilt coordination method which gives more accurate sensations to drivers. To reduce the time in returning the simulator to its origin, an algorithm that applies selectively onset mode from high pass filters and return mode from error functions is proposed. As a result of this study, the results of the proposed algorithm are compared with the results of classical washout algorithm through the human perception models. Also, the performance of the suggested algorithm is evaluated by using human perception and sensibility of some drivers through experiments.
The purpose of this study was to provide information on athletes' characteristics and advantages and disadvantages by analyzing the kinematic factors having a decisive influence on competitive abilities such as release conditions in the delivery phase on major Korean javelin athletes. Two supported javelin throwers of the Korean national team participated in this study. The total average time required of the delivery phase was 0.31(${\pm}0.016$). The athletes' release angle was 33.2 to 41.7 degrees. The attack angle varied widely from -3.5 to 5.9 degrees. The Javelin heights of Subject A and B were 95.9 and 89.2%Ht. The average stride length were 180.6 and 176.7cm. The center of mass velocity of LFD and REL was relatively low in all the subjects. The average deceleration rates of center of mass velocity of Subject A and B were 57.2 and 48.9%lose. The left knee angles of Subject A and B were 160.1 and 155.5 degrees in LFD, 153.0 and 164.0 degrees in REL. The joint velocity of upper limb segments was relatively low in all the subjects. The maximum average wrist velocity of Subject A and B was 18.2 and 16.3 m/s in REL.
In this study, we present geometrical and kinematical analysis of Moreton wave observed in 2012 June 3rd and July 6th, recorded in H-${\alpha}$ images of Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) archive. These large-scale waves exhibit different features compared to each other. The observed wave of June 3rd has angular span of about $70^{\circ}$ with a diffuse wave front associated to NOAA active region 11496. It was found that the propagating speed of the wave at 17:53 UT is about $931{\pm}80km/s$. The broadness nature of this Moreton wave can be interpreted as the vertical extension of the wave over the chromosphere. On the other hand, the wave of July 6th associated with X1.1 class are that occurred at 23:01 UT in AR NOAA11515. From the kinematical analysis, the wave propagated with the initial velocity of about $994{\pm}70km/s$ which is in agreement with the speed of coronal shock derived from type II radio burst, v ~ 1100 km/s. These two identified waves add the inventory of the large-scale waves observed in 24th Solar Cycle.
In a companion paper, a rational mechanical model to predict the entire behavior of point-loaded RC slender beams (a/d > 2.5) without shear reinforcement was developed. This paper presents the test results of 9 slender shear beams and compares them with analytical results performed by the proposed model. They are grouped by two parameters, which are shear span ratio and concrete strength. Three kinds of concrete strength the 26.5, 39.2, and 58.8 MPa were included as a major experimental parameter together with different shear span ratios ranging from 3 to 6 depending on the test series. Tests were set up as a traditional 3 point bending test. Various measurements were taken to monitor abrupt shear failure. Test results were not only compared with analytical results from the proposed model, but also other formulas, to consider the various aspects of shear failure such as kinematical conditions or shear capacity. Finally, a review of the proposed model is presented with respect to the shear transfer mechanisms and the effect of test parameters. Results show that several assumptions and proposals adopted in the proposed model are rational and reasonable.
