Pharmacognostical Studies on the Korean Folk Medicine 'Ki Rin Cho' (민간약 기린초의 생약학적 연구)

  • Korean folk medicine 'Ki Rin Cho' has been used to cure stanching and counteracting poison. The botanical origin of the crude drug has never been studied pharmacognostically. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Ki Rin Cho', the morphological and anatomical characteristics of Sedum species growing in Korea, i.e. S. aizoon, S. kamtschaticum and S. latiovalifolium were studied. As a result, 'Ki Rin Cho' was proved to be Sedum kamtschaticum and Sedum aizoon.

  • This paper investigated the real-time generator swing prediction by some researchers. And the first swing stability assessment based on EAC(Equal-Area Criterion) by using phasor measurement unit is proposed. Also we proposed the multi-swing prediction techniques, which is to estimate system parameters by using least square method / extrapolation with phasor measurement units. And the multi-swing prediction is performed with the estimated parameters. Future works are necessary to verify the proposed approaches in this paper.

  • This paper discusses on an optimal bidding strategy of a generator in a competitive electricity spot market using the information of predicted spot price with some assumptions. Optimal bidding strategy of a generator is derived by solving a profit-maximizing optimization problem with a constraint where the forecasted spot price is treated as a constant value. The main advantage of this methodology is that the optimal bidding strategy of each generator can be obtained independently where the gaming characteristics of generators are merged into the forecasted spot price.

  • Chon-Mun-Ryu-Cho (天文類抄), written (edited) by Lee Sun-Ji (李純之) during the period of King Se-Jong, is a representative astronomy book of Cho-Sun (朝鮮: A.D. 1392-1910) Dynasty. We find and study in the first page of the book; the description of 28 oriental constellations as a Sasin (four mythical oriental animals)-animal sky map which is not widely known yet. The map consists of four groups of constellations, each of which represents the Sasin: Chang-Ryong (蒼龍: dragon), Baek-Ho (白虎: tige.s with Ki-Rin [離隣: Oriental giraffe]), Ju-Jak (朱崔: Chinese phoenix), Hyun-Mu (玄武: a tortoise interwined with a snake). Each group (animals) spans 2 ~ 7 of 28 oriental constellations (宿). As we know from the illustration (論說) of the Chon-Sang-Yol-Cha-Bun-Ya-Ji-Do (天象列次分野之圖), a representative sky map of Cho-Sun Dynasty, astronomy in Cho-Sun Dynasty is closely related to that in Go- Gu-Rye. (高句麗: B.C. 37 -A.D. 668) Dynasty. Since these Sasin-animals appear in most mural paintings of Go-Gu-Rye. (高句麗) tombs, visualization of sky with these animal constellations could have been established as early as in Go-Gu-Ryer Dynasty. We also reconstruct this ”A Sasin-animal Korean sky map” based on the shapes of the Sasin and Ki-Rin from Go-Gu-Ryer paintings and 28 oriental constellations in Chon- S an g- Yol- C h a- B un- Ya- J i- Do.

  • This study provides the empirical results of the customers' necessity and intentions of purchasing weather index insurance using survey of asking the customers' recognition about weather insurance. In this article, we discovered that not only the customers' past experience of loss but also the extent of damage and the effects that change in weather would have on their firm are positively related to an intention to purchase weather index insurance. In addition, the level of premiums was significantly higher for the highly-intended group of willing to purchase weather index insurance than the comparison group.

  • 고유가, 화석연료의 고갈, 환경문제의 대두에 따라 전세계적으로 이에 대응을 위한 다양한 에너지절감 시책들이 전개되고 있다. 이중 에너지공급자에게 의무 목표량을 부과하고 에너지효율향상을 통하여 에너지 절감을 이끌어 내는 에너지효율향상의무화제도(EERS)라는 강력한 정책이 미국 및 유럽 내의 여러 지역에서 시행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내도입을 위한 EERS의 현황 및 에너지효율향상 프로그램의 시행촉진과 에너지 공급자의 수익감소를 보전해주는 수단인 디커플링 메커니즘의 개요와 그 시행사례를 살펴보고 국내 시사점에 대하여 고찰해 보고자 한다.

  • 본 논문은 최근 고유가에 따른 전기난방 수요의 급증 현상이 에너지이용효율 측면에서 바람직한 방향인지 난방방식별 효율성을 객관적 기준에서 분석하였다. 난방방식으로는 전기난방, 가스난방, 유류 난방 방식을 채택하였으며, 동일한 난방서비스 공급을 위한 1차에너지소비량, 이산화탄소배출량, 그리고 연료비용을 비교분석하였다. 또한, 에너지원별 에너지가격정책에 따른 가격왜곡현상의 유무에 따른 영향을 시나리오에 기초하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 시나리오 분석을 통해, 전기 난방 특히 전열난방방식(전열난방수요의 20%)을 가스난방으로 전환할 경우에 연간 7,214억원의 사회적 편익이 발생할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문은 난방에너지부문에 통합수요관리정책을 추진할 경우의 효과를 분석하기 위해서 난방기술별 비교우위 및 난방방식간의 전환효과를 분석하였다. 냉방공급방식으로는 전기냉방, 가스냉방, 빙축열 냉방을 채택하였으며, 동일한 냉방서비스 공급에 대한 1차에너지소비량, 이산화탄소배출량, 그리고 연료비용을 비교분석하였다. 또한, 에너지원별 에너지가격정책에 따른 가격왜곡현상의 유무에 따른 영향을 시나리오에 기초하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 시나리오 분석을 통해, 전기냉방수요의 20%를 가스냉방수요로 전환할 경우에 연간 3,141억원의 사회적 편익이 발생할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • This paper proposes the optimal placement with minimum set of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU's) using tabu search and makes an alternative plan to secure the robustness of the network with PMU's. The optimal PMU Placement (OPP) problem is generally expressed as a combinatorial optimization problem subjected to the observability constraints. Thus, it is necessary to make a use of an efficient method in solving the OPP problem. In this paper, a tabu search based approach to solve efficiently this OPP problem proposed. The observability of the network with PMU's is fragile at any single PMU contingency. To overcome the fragility, an alternative scheme that makes efficient use of the existing measurement system in power system state estimation proposed. The performance of the proposed approach and the alternative scheme is evaluated with IEEE sample systems.

  • Network parameters in power systems are indispensable for all of power system engineering studies, including the power flow calculation and the state estimation. The network parameters required for the studios, in general, are estimated by using several estimation techniques, since it Is very difficult to measure. To improve the estimation accuracy of the network parameters, this paper adopt the synchronized phasor measurements which are acquired from the Phasor Measurement Unit with built-in GPS receiver. In this paper, the parameter estimation problem is formulated with over-determined nonlinear measurement equations and solved with Newton-Raphson method and pseudo-inverse. The effectiveness of the proposed parameter estimation with the synchronized phasor measurements is verified through some case studies with IEEE sample system. The results are very promising.
