  • The purpose of this study is to detect the problems of the Korean typewriter keyboards, and to analyze and compare the standard keyboard with other keyboards. We find that the standard Korean keyboard has a lot of problems in terms of mechanical engineering and human factors engineering and that it is less efficient than Kong's keyboard.

  • The purpose of this study is to use standard and downward slope of the keyboards with taping to influence electromyography of upper trapezius. The effect of taping raise a medical criticism, but we do an experiment on two kind of keyboards with taping in order to decrease stress of shoulder. Subjects are in Seonam university whose are twelve healthy adults in their twenties. This experiment used two kind of keyboards. Standard keyboard's degree is $0^{\circ}$ and another keyboard's degree is $-7.5^{\circ}$. Application of Kinesio taping attached belly of upper trapezius tightly. Measurement of electromyography attached posterior of acromion process go by spinous process of 7th cervical vertebra and upper trapezius. Method of analysis used Repeated measure two-way ANOVA. Result of this experiment, both shoulder's muscle activity increased(p<.05) when used standard keyboard and downward keyboard with taping used. We compared muscle activity that used downward keyboard than standard keyboard. Statistically, it dosen't increase in neck and shoulder(p>.05). Therefore, using a keyboard with upper trapezius's taping in order to decrease muscle activity isn't influenced.

  • Recently, as the demand for multimedia services based on the wireless technologies and mobile devices increases, Full-touch screen mobile devices adopting touch screen keyboards are emerging to cope with the limited display size and take advantage of the flexibility in the design of user interfaces. However, the text entry task, which is one of the main features of the mobile devices, decreases the competitive advantages of the touch screen keyboards over the physical keyboards or keypads due to the lack of physical feedbacks and the frequent occurrence of mistyping. This study aims to introduce a novel text entry method named Fuzzy Touch and compare this method with the conventional text entry method on a touch screen keyboard in terms of the performance (time, number of touch) and the subjective ratings (ease of use, overall preference).

  • Internet generalization has led to increased demands for Internet banking. Various security programs to protect authentication information are being developed; however, these programs cannot protect the wireless communication sections of wireless keyboards. In particular, vulnerabilities have been reported in the radio communication sections of 27 MHz wireless keyboards. In this paper, we explain how to analyze M's 27 MHz wireless keyboard. We also experimentally show that an attacker can acquire authentication information during domestic Internet banking using a 27 MHz wireless keyboard. To do this, we set up an experimental encironment to analyze the electromagnetic signal of a 27 MHz wireless keyboard.

  • The North and South Koreas have different standards for computer keyboard designs, though both are two sets type keyboards. We expect that the unified design will be three sets type as the third standard. Korean keyboards of three sets type are classified as 3 modes in this paper, such as limited models, medium models, and extended models. Based on design principles of three sets type, 27, 29, 30, 36, and 38 keys models for a unified standard are suggested.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the performance and usability of ten-finger text entry on Tablet PCs. Background: Generally a soft keyboard is used on Tablet PCs. However, the soft keyboard's performance is usually worse than physical keyboard's performance. In this study, we proposed a modified keyboard for tablet PCs to improve the performance of ten-finger text entry and evaluated the performance and subjective ratings of the keyboard. Method: The modified soft keyboard that is suggested in this study was compared with current Google and Samsung soft keyboards on Tablet PCs. Results: The three keyboards were not significantly different in terms of typing speed, error rate, and mental workload and showed bad performance. Also, the subjective ratings were not shown positively. Conclusion: Based on our results, ten-finger text entry using soft keyboards on Tablet PCs seems to be very difficult. However, we need to research the possibility continuously since ten-finger text entry can improve typing speed. Application: Our study can be a starting point of research that explores ten-finger text entry on Tablet PCs. The new soft keyboard design can be one of the soft keyboard alternatives. However, the key factors to improve the performance and usability of the soft keyboard will not be 'key size' or 'convenience to typing special characters or numbers', but other factors (e.g., 'tactile feedback').

  • Desktop computers, which were the main means of Internet use and information activity, were pushed out by smart devices that emphasized mobility and simplicity. The recent information production and consumption activities are performed through smart devices, but there is no input device for smart devices that can fully replace traditional input devices such as full-size PC compatible keyboards. Because of the small size of the virtual keyboard that uses the touch screen of the smart device, typographical error occurs at a high rate. In this paper, we propose a variable virtual keyboard that minimizes the typographical errors of the conventional virtual keyboards. The proposed method minimizes the user 's input error by adjusting the size of each key of the virtual keyboard based on accumulated dataset of position and pressure of the user' s input error even though there is no difference in the key position arrangement of the conventional virtual keyboards.

  • Objective:The purpose of this study is to design a three-set type (Sebulsik) keyboard that is to input Korean text with no shifted keys and also compatible with the standard Korean computer keyboard or ANSI keyboard. Background: The KS computer keyboard is two-set type (Dubulsik). Existing and proposed designs of three-set type of past studies are not compatible with KS or ANSI keyboard and are complex with many redundant letters. Method: The number of Korean letters for 3-set type is analyzed. Then Korean letters are arranged with normality and with spatial compatibility to the KS Korean keyboard, and symbols were arranged to same positions with ANSI keyboard. Results: Initial consonants of 14 numbers and 6 vowels are arranged as exactly same positions of KS keyboard, and other vowels are arranged with spatial compatibility. Symbols are arranged to the same positions with ANSI keyboard, and 10 digits are confirmed and has compatibility to International standard. Conclusion: A 38-key model, 38K, is designed to require minimal keys to input Korean text with no shifted keys, increased the compatibility to the KS Korean computer keyboard. Application: Using the proposed 38-key model, 38K, it can be taken into account for keyboards in industrial production. It is applicable to user group of 3-set type Korean keyboard with more easy than past keyboards.

  • In this paper, we suggested the methodology of analyzing and reconstructing of measured electromagnetic emanations from the Micro Controller Unit(MCU) chip of Universal Serial Bus(USB) keyboard. By analyzing electromagnetic emanations, entered information is found at keystroke and furthermore, information security problems such as personal information leakage and eavesdropping can be arisen. USB keyboards make the radiated signal according to the signal transmission mechanism. Electromagnetic emanations were measured by log periodic antenna and wideband receiver and were analyzed by signal processing algorithm.
