In this paper, design measure were proposed for the construction of terminal systems for airborne platforms, which are key element in the Joint Tactical Data Link System (JTDLS) complete system. The Korean perfect tactical data link (JTDLS) is a communication system to establish an independent tactical data link network and needs to develop a MIDS-LVT (Link-16) communication terminal for datalink. Once a Ground/Navy JTDLS terminal system is established around airborne platform, it will be possible to break away from reliance on NATO-based tactical data link joint operations and establish independent Korean surveillance reconnaissance real-time data sharing and tactical data link operations concepts. in this paper, the essential development elements of airborne platform mounting and operable JTDLS terminals are presented, and the concept of system design is proposed to embody them. Further, improved system performance was analyzed by applying the concepts of complex relative navigation system and Advanced TDMA protocol for the deployment of airborne tactical datalink networks.

Wholesale club is one of the fastest expanding retailer formats. Given its key features such as limited assortment and no promotion policy, the current paper provides a theory on why the wholesale clubs charge their members fixed annual fees. In a competitive setting with supermarkets, the proposed model demonstrates that the membership fee is the optimal reaction of wholesale clubs to supermarkets" sales promotion. More specifically, the positive amount of annual fee is only justified under the condition that there exists consumer heterogeneity in consumption rate and when the supermarket exercises price promotion on the product that the wholesale club carries. This paper describes the competition in a stylized fashion and derives the optimal membership fee under a scenario where retail promotion is present. This study is valuable in that it offers a different explanation on wholesale club membership fee than conventional wisdoms such as cost sharing and that it provides insights to the managers who consider no-fee format.

WebME is an Web-based integrated modeling environment that implements a multi-facetted modeling approach to mathematical model representation and management. Key features of WebME include the following: (i) sharing of modeling knowledge on the Web, (ii) a user-friendly interface for creating, maintaining, and solving models, (iii) independent management of mathematical models from conceptual models, (iv) object-oriented conceptual blackboard concept, (v) multi-facetted mathematical modeling modeling, and (vi) declarative representation of mathematical knowledge. This paper presents details of design and implementation issues that were encountered in the development of WebME.

Content based image retrieval is increasingly gaining popularity among image repository systems as images are a big source of digital communication and information sharing. Identification of image content is done through feature extraction which is the key operation for a successful content based image retrieval system. In this paper content based image retrieval system has been developed by adopting a strategy of combining multiple features of shape, color and relevance feedback. Shape is served as a primary operation to identify images whereas color and relevance feedback have been used as supporting features to make the system more efficient and accurate. Shape features are estimated through second derivative, least square polynomial and shapes coding methods. Color is estimated through max-min mean of neighborhood intensities. A new technique has been introduced for relevance feedback without bothering the user.

최근 빠르게 확산되고 있는 소셜 네트워크 서비스(Social Network Service)는 사용자 간 데이터의 공유 및 전파, 그리고 가상의 공간을 이용한 지인과의 인맥 관리와 새로운 인맥 생성에 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 소셜 네트워크의 공개적인 환경에 의해 정보나 프라이버시가 쉽게 노출될 수 있다. 특정 정보를 가진 사용자들 간의 제한적 정보 공유는 소셜 네트워크의 이러한 단점을 완화시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 사용자가 원하는 정보를 가진 다른 사람들과의 정보공유를 통해 정보에 대한 신뢰도를 높이며, 새로운 인맥 형성에도 효과적 일 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 소셜 네트워크에서 동일한 관심사를 가진 사용자들 간의 폐쇄적 정보공유에서의 정보 보호와 악의적 사용자에 의한 도청을 막기 위한 데이터 암호화 메커니즘을 제안한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the LOHAS tendency of new seniors' and its effects on the attitude and purchase intention for environmental-friendly food materials. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey from random sample of 162 senior customers in Seoul and Kyunggi area. The LOHAS tendency of new seniors can be divided into three factors; environmental-friendly, sustainability and sociality. Environmental problems affected the environmental-friendly factor the most while manufacturing techniques for sustainable products and recycling habits were key variables for the sustainability factor. The idea of companies sharing their value system of LOHAS tendency was the most significant for the sociality factor. Each of these LOHAS tendency factors influenced the purchase intention of the new seniors.

Designing a complex system such as an LCD developing system becomes inefficient when many designers are involved and create their own parts even though they can be used repeatedly in other sections. Thus, this paper proposes a new design process that can maximize the number of common parts in complex system design by organizing the 3D design process. The proposed design process consists of 5 stages: analysis of design intention, definition of initial product structure, definition of skeleton model, sharing design intention with all assembles, control of correlation between components. The proposed design process can maximize common parts in design process, which results in shorter lead time, less production cost, and greater economic benefits.

A new laophontid copepod species, Apolethon articulatus n. sp., is described from the estuaries and salt marshes in South Korea. Apolethon articulatus is similar to the three congeneric species currently known in sharing the character combination of the elongate first endopodal segment of leg 1 with inner seta and the expansion of second endopodal segments of legs 2-4 with decrease in the number of setae on them. However, A. articulatus differs from them by the separate exopod of female leg 5 and the armature of mandibular palp with 6 setae. Description and taxonomic accounts of the new species are presented herein with detailed illustrations and SEM micrographs. As the true identity of the rarely known genus has not been clarified yet, a revised generic diagnosis is provided with a key to the species hitherto known in the genus.

To support Internet traffic efficiently over ATM \networks, Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) has been proposed in tile ATM Forum to ensure minimum rate guarantees to VCs. In this paper, we proposed fuzzy logic based buffer management algorithm that provides MCR guarantee and fair sharing to GFR VCs. A key feature of proposed algorithm is its ability to accept or drop a new incoming packet dynamically based on buffer condition and load rate of VCs. This is achieved by using fuzzy logic controller for the production of a drop factor. Simulation result shows that proposed scheme significantly has improved fairness and TCP throughput compared with previous schemes.

In this research, the feasibility of distributed finite element analysis system with STEP and CORBA has been investigated. The enabling technologies such as CORBA and Java play key roles in the development of integrated and geographically distributed application software. In addition to the distribution of analysis modules, numerical solution process itself is again divided into parallel processes using multi-frontal method for computational efficiency. In contrast to the specially designed parallel process for specific hardware, CORBA-based parallel process is well suited for heterogeneous platforms over the network. The idea of Web-based distributed analysis system may be applied to the engineering ASP for design and analysis in the product development processes. We believe that the proposed approach for the analysis can be extended to the entire product development process for sharing and utilizing common product data in the distributed engineering environment, thus eventually provide basis for virtual enterprise.
