Continued Innovation in Respiratory Care: The Importance of Inhaler Devices

  • When it comes to the use in inhalers in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, there are many options, considerations and challenges, which health care professionals need to address. Considerations for prescribing and dispensing, administering and following up, education, and adherence; all of these factors impact on treatment success and all are intrinsically linked to the device selected. This review brings together relevant evidence, real-life data and practice tools to assist health care professionals in making decisions about the use of inhalers in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. It covers some of the key technical device issues to be considered, the evidence behind the role of inhalers in disease control, population studies which link behaviors and adherence to inhaler devices as well as practice advice on inhaler technique education and the advantages and disadvantages in selecting different inhaler devices. Finally, a list of key considerations to aid health care providers in successfully managing the use of inhaler devices are summarized.

  • To help machine designers to make precise design of large permanent magnet (PM) machines, this paper presents a set of design considerations that are very often ignored by machine designers. These considerations are categorized into several aspects: electromagnetic (EM) performance, losses and efficiency, fault and stability, and some other issues. The effects of various practical factors are presented and some corresponding design methods are introduced.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the ethical considerations that must be addressed in journals and discern the strategies that will elevate the quality of the journals. Research design, data, and methodology: This study utilized the past studies that were conducted in this field. Examples of journals were used to mark some of the key features of reputable journals, as well as the guidelines for KODISA. Results: This study has showed the importance of ethical considerations in journals for the best interests of the scholars and journal community as a whole. A clear set of outlines makes the journal a place for scholars to share their knowledge, as well as elevate the journal into a good standing in the academic world. Some of the key strategies in improving KODISA include inviting notable members of a field to share their knowledge and encouraging more scholars to contribute to this network. Conclusion: KODISA has a strong set of ethical considerations for the scholars that publish in their journals and will continue to improve its quality for the future. It includes improving its strategies and keeping up to date with the trends in the current field of discipline.

Resonant Tank Design Considerations and Implementation of a LLC Resonant Converter with a Wide Battery Voltage Range

  • This paper illustrates resonant tank design considerations and the implementation of a LLC resonant converter with a wide battery voltage range based on the fundamental harmonic approximation (FHA) analysis. Unlike the conventional design at zero load, the parameter K (the ratio of the transformer magnetizing inductor Lm to the resonant inductor Lr) of the LLC converter in this paper is designed with two charging points, (Vo_min, Io_max1) and (Vo_max, Io_max2), according to the battery charging strategy. A 2.9kW prototype with an output voltage range of 36V to 72V dc is built to verify the design. It achieves a peak efficiency of 96%.

The Prominence of Financial Considerations on Housing Investors' Purchase Decisions

  • As a basic element for sustainable development, the residential housing industry is vital and fundamental for every country in the world. Therefore, this study examines the impacts of financial considerations on house purchase decisions by housing investors in Auckland, New Zealand. 110 completed questionnaires were statistically analyzed. For testing the proposed hypotheses, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used. The results show that house prices, income, and credit accessibility significantly influence housing investors' purchase decisions in a positive direction. It appears that more expensive houses offer more promising returns such that housing investors having higher levels of income and access to loans are brave enough to invest in such houses. This study aims to present the key factors influencing house purchase decisions from the viewpoint of housing investors as fundamental groups of stakeholders in the property market, which is rarely examined in previous studies. The implication of this study is to provide guidelines for housing regulators in New Zealand to develop affordable housing prices through the availability of land banks. This study also offers practical contributions to housing investors, particularly by providing key guidelines to make effective investment decisions.

  • Purpose: This paper aimed to examine the ethical considerations that are the basis for many functions in the healthcare field. The key ethical values in global health, as well as future considerations imperative to this area, were observed. Research design, data and methodology: The current study utilized the past literature studies that were examined in the field of global health. An overview of the role of ethics in the healthcare field, as well as important considerations that needed to be taken into account in order to provide advancements in this area, were investigated. Results: Ethics are an important set of principles that guides humankind into the right conduct or action to better society and each other. Ethical values are one of the pinnacle points for any healthcare provider, as healthcare is not only considered from the aspect of patient health and well-being, but also in its role of keeping ethical guidelines to achieve the best possible care for a patient. Conclusions: A comprehensive understanding of healthcare is needed in order to tackle next generational challenges in global health. These ethical considerations will inevitably play a significant role in harnessing the patient-healthcare professional relationships as well as care for the shortening of a global disparity on healthcare.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 최근 다양한 산업분야에서 도입되고 있는 클라우드 컴퓨팅서비스의 관련 문헌을 조사하여 개념과 유형, 적용 사례를 포괄적으로 분석한 후, 도서관 사서들을 대상으로 클라우드 컴퓨팅서비스에 대한 인식을 설문조사하여 그 결과를 기반으로 도서관에서 클라우드 컴퓨팅서비스를 적용할 때의 장점과 문제점, 적용에 적합한 도서관 업무 분야를 사서들의 설문 내용에 근거하여 도출하고, 클라우드 컴퓨팅서비스의 도서관 적용에서 핵심적으로 고려할 사항들을 제안하였다.

  • It is recognized that safety is a key point of technical competency. Its adoption is widely spread in development of products and it is essentially necessary in aerospace industry because airborne system and equipment are used complex high-technology and implemented systematic performance using software. This study reviews system safety assessment, development assurance level, airborne software, RTCA DO-178 process, and considerations & pitfalls in software development.

  • The flight test comes at the end of the aircraft development process and is an unique part. The purposes of the flight test are to evaluate the characteristics of the aircraft and validate its design in the real operating environment. Atmospheric considerations are key elements, when the planner of flight test establishes the flight test planning. The primary objective of atmospheric considerations is to ensure safety of the vehicle. The planning through atmospheric considerations can minimize flight cancellations caused by severe weather. In this paper, we present a program for flight suitability distinction, and develop a program for calculation of available sorties.
