The layout of haul routes within a construction site of large complex projects needs to be carefully determined as the productivity of earthwork activity heavily depends on the efficiency of the layout and the routes are not likely to change once they are settled. This paper aims to provide a construction planner with a reliable framework to create an efficient layout of haul routes within a large complex construction site. To construct the framework, five factors affecting haul route layout and the productivity of earthwork activity are described along with the associated rules of thumb recommended by design and field experts. In addition, a methodology based on spatial analysis using raster format in GIS is proposed to further increase haul route efficiency. The proposed planning framework enables a construction planner to easily find a more reliable route layout by thoroughly considering the key factors prior to setting up an earthmoving plan.

In Black hat USA 2014, a hacking method to infer the password entry of smartphone or smartpad with google glass in distance is presented. In this paper, we design the secure keypad to protect the key stroke inference attacks with google glass which has unique layout ensuring same input entry but different input value.
A Hangul input method consists of two core components: key layout for primitive units (Natja), and binding rules to form more complex, composite units from primitive ones. However, careless design and implementation of an input method may result in ambiguity and inability of contiguous typing, when it comes to handle composite Hangul units. This is due to the collective nature of Hangul, namely, existence of implicit boundaries between units and syllables. This issue gets more challenging for the context-dependent 2-beolsik method, mobile environment having significantly fewer keys, and yet addition of the support for Old Hangul. For the sake of the management of complexity, we devised a system in which the binding rule is divided into two layers rather than one. Based on this concept, we implemented a tool program that, given the primitive units and their binding rules, generates input details of every composite unit and detects any potential ambiguity and conflicts. We presented the actual analysis result for Samsung Cheonji-in and KT Naratgeul, two of the most popular mobile Hangul input methods used in Korea.
The efficient utilization of cache memories is a key factor in achieving high performance for computing large signal transforms. Nonunit stride access in computation of large DFTs causes cache conflict misses, thereby resulting in poor cache performance. It leads to a severe degradation in overall performance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic data layout approach considering the memory hierarchy system. In our approach, data reorganization is performed between computation stages to reduce the number of cache misses. Also, we develop an efficient search algorithm to determine the optimal tree with the minimum execution time among possible factorization trees considering the size of DFTs and the data access stride. Our approach is applied to compute the fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Experiments were performed on Pentium 4, $Athlon^{TM}$ 64, Alpha 21264, UtraSPARC III. Experiment results show that our FFT achieve performance improvement of up to 3.37 times better than the previous FFT packages.
An electronic document based on PDF has been widely used in customer communication between an enterprise and a customer to deliver personalized content. However, electronic documents based on PDF in the form of paper layouts are not suitable for mobile environments because of low readability and lack of interactive interaction. Even though HTML is an essential language in a mobile environment, electronic document based on PDF is still used as it has a content integrity verification feature with a digital signature. It means that a user is sacrificing user experience in a mobile environment for content integrity and using paper-layout electronic documents. In this research, we design the Document HTML specification by setting the Document HTML conformance, adding the extended meta tags, and signing the message digest with a digital signature based on public key infrastructure (PKI). Furthermore, we implemented the Document HTML system, which has REST API services to generate and verify the Document HTML, and did experimental verification of the theory. As a result, we have confirmed that the Document HTML has both content integrity and user experience on mobile. Furthermore, the Document HTML is expected to be an alternative document format to deliver personalized content from an enterprise to a customer in a mobile environment instead of the paper layout electronic document such as PDF.
This paper takes a half-through steel truss arch bridge as an example. A seismic analysis is conducted with nonlinear finite element method. Contrast models are established to discuss the effect of simplified method for main girder on the accuracy of the result. The influence of seismic wave direction and wave-passage on seismic behaviors are analysed as well as the superstructure and arch ring interaction which is mostly related with the supported bearings and wind resistant springs. In the end, the application of cable-sliding aseismic devices is discussed to put forward a layout principle. The main conclusions include: (1) The seismic response isn't too distinctive with the simplified method of main girder. Generally speaking, the grillage method is recommended. (2) Under seismic input from different directions, arch foot is usually the mostly dangerous section. (3) Vertical wave input and horizontal wave-passage greatly influence the seismic responses of arch ring, significantly increasing that of midspan. (4) The superstructure interaction has an obvious impact on the seismic performance. Half-through arch bridges with long spandrel columns fixed has a less response than those with short ones fixed. And a large stiffness of wind resistant spring makes the the seismic responses of arch ring larger. (5) A good isolation effectiveness for half-through arch bridge can be achieved by a reasonable arrangement of CSFABs.
Shear walls are a typical member under a complex stress state and have complicated mechanical properties and failure modes. The separated-elements model Genetic Evolutionary Structural Optimization (GESO), which is a combination of an elastic-plastic stress method and an optimization method, has been introduced in the literature for designing such members. Although the separated-elements model GESO method is well recognized due to its stability, feasibility, and economy, its adequacy has not been experimentally verified. This paper seeks to validate the adequacy of the separated-elements model GESO method against experimental data and demonstrate its feasibility and advantages over the traditional elastic stress method. Two types of reinforced concrete shear wall specimens, which had the location of an opening in the middle bottom and the center region, respectively, were utilized for this study. For each type, two specimens were designed using the separated-elements model GESO method and elastic stress method, respectively. All specimens were subjected to a constant vertical load and an incremental lateral load until failure. Test results indicated that the ultimate bearing capacity, failure modes, and main crack types of the shear walls designed using the two methods were similar, but the ductility indexes including the stiffness degradation, deformability, reinforcement yielding, and crack development of the specimens designed using the separated-elements model GESO method were superior to those using the elastic stress method. Additionally, the shear walls designed using the separated-elements model GESO method, had a reinforcement layout which could closely resist the actual critical stress, and thus a reduced amount of steel bars were required for such shear walls.
The homogeneous key arrangement is a method of consistently arranging notes in a tile-shaped keyboard musical instrument, and arranging them in the same direction in the same direction on the neighboring keys in the same direction to enable a consistent musical arrangement. It has been used for a long time, but recently it has attracted attention by applying it to various modern musical instrument design and software instrument interface. There have been many different methods of deployment, but there are few studies on the existence of some or none of them. In this paper, we propose a classification method for such a key arrangement and analyze the relationship between them. This shows that there are far fewer types of homologous key arrangement than the known ones, and provided the basis of the study on the homogeneous key arrangement by providing a classification framework. Based on this, it is expected that more systematic analysis and research will be done and it will be used to develop various music interfaces. These studies will play a very important role in training students to understand the basic elements of pitch, harmony, harmony, and scales in music education games.
To explore the effect of Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) on improving the progressive collapse resistance of reinforced concrete frames under a middle column removal scenario, six beam-column substructures were tested by quasistatic vertical loading. Among the six specimens, four were ECC-concrete composite specimens consisting of different depth of ECC at the bottom or top of the beam and concrete in the rest of the beam, while the other two are ordinary reinforced concrete specimens with different concrete strength grades for comparison. The experimental results demonstrated that ECC-concrete composite specimens can improve the bearing capacity of a beam-column substructure at the stages of compressive arch action (CAA) and catenary action in comparison with ordinary concrete specimen. Under the same depth of ECC, the progressive collapse resistance of a specimen with ECC at the beam bottom was superior to that at the beam top. With the increase of the proportion of ECC arranged at the beam bottom, the bearing capacity of a composite substructure was increased, but the increase rate slows down with the proportion. Meanwhile, the nonlinear numerical analysis software MSC Marc was used to simulate the whole loading process of the six specimens. Theoretical formulas to calculate the capacities of ECC-concrete composite specimens at the stages of flexural action, CAA and catenary action are proposed. Based on the research results, this study suggests that ECC should be laid out at the beam bottom and the layout depth should be within 25% of the total beam depth.

The introduction of a diesel engine into the passenger car and light duty applications in the United States involves significant technical challenges for the automotive makers. This paper describes the SCR System optimization procedure for such a diesel engine application to meet Tier2 Bin5 emission regulation. A urea SCR system, a representative $NO_x$ reduction after-treatment technique, is applied to a 3.0 liter diesel engine. To achieve the maximum $NO_x$ reduction performance, the exhaust system layout was optimized using series of the computational fluid dynamics and the urea distribution uniformity test. Furthermore a comprehensive simulation model for the key factors influencing $NO_x$ reduction performance was developed and embedded in the Simulink/Matlab environment. This model was then applied to the urea SCR system and played a key role to shorten the time needed for SCR control parameter calibration. The potential of a urea SCR system for reducing diesel $NO_x$ emission is shown for FTP75 and US06 emission standard test cycle.
