This study was to suggest the directions of and the choice of the authorized access points for Korean Cataloging Rules, based on the trends of the international cataloging and the need of rules for the authorized access points in KCR. The Literature review, the case study, and the interviewing were used as the research methods. In the literature review, the Authorized access points were reviewed in FRBR conceptual model, International cataloging Principle 2009, and Resource Description and Access. VIAF authorized access points were analyzed as case study. Last interview was executed with the representative librarians in 4 University libraries. Through these surveys, new directions and rules of the authorized access points for KCR were suggested. This study could contributed to construct work and expression authorized access points of FRBR, and to set up the selection rules of the authorized access points for KCR.

This study aims to propose guideline for uniform title of legal works. To achieve this objective, this study (1) reviewed the uniform title and authority access points of legal works targeting RDA, NCR, KCR2 and KCR5, (2) analyzed the actual application methods by investigating the guideline and bibliographic data for uniform title for legal works targeting LC, DNB, and university libraries, (3) examined the scope of application of uniform title in the bibliographic data of the National Library of Korea and suggested points to consider when developing guidelines for uniform title. Based on this, (4) a draft guideline for creating uniform title for legal works was formulated. The draft was revised after review by a librarian and consultation with experts, and then the final draft was proposed. The data were obtained through literature reviews and case studies, and additional data were obtained through e-mail interviews and expert advice.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distinctiveness and problem areas in cataloging rules of printed music. In this study, therefore, the characteristics, kinds, and cataloging rules related to a printed music are examined first as the backgrounds. Then the sources of information, title and general material designation, musical representation statement, publication.distribution.etc., physical description, notes, etc. in ISBD(PM), Chapter 5 Music of AACR2R 2002 Revision 2004 Update, and Chapter 5 Music of KCR4 are analyzed. And also printed music parts in Bibliographic Data of KORMARC and MARC21 are analyzed. Finally, the special issues and some problems to be considered in cataloging of printed music in KCR4 are presented.

A turnout system which permits trains to pass from one track to another consists of the switch, the crossing, lead rails which are necessary to connect the switch and the crossing, two guard rails and a switch machine for operating the switch. A turnout is the sole moving part among the railway components and has complex configuration, so the safety has always been raised an issue. In Korea, it is planned to adopt the high speed tilting train, which operates at the maximum speed of 180km/h, at conventional lines by the year of 2010. However, for the application of the tilting train to conventional lines, it is prerequisite to establish a stable turnout system allowing the tilting train to pass through it without reducing speed. Therefore, the improved turnout system for the speed-up of conventional lines has been developed and the prototype of the turnout system has been constructed. In this study, evaluation of noise characteristics around the improved turnout system was performed through the field measurements. Field measurements of noise around the conventional and the high-speed turnout system were also carried out for the comparison.

This study was for suggesting the test methods in the revision process of the cataloging rules to understand the problem of draft cataloging rules and to apply the new cataloging rules correctly in libraries instead of collecting the opinions by the traditional seminar and conference in the process of revising KCR, KCR2, KCR3, KCR4. For this study, the literature review and the case study were used as the research methods. The case study was based on the US RDA Test by US RDA Test Coordinating Committee. The evaluation areas of the test were cataloging rules, record creation and system development by reflecting the new cataloging rules, user, and cost. The data for the analysis was the creation of bibliographic records and authority records by librarians, and the question investigations that were the use of institutions, librarians, and users. This study would contribute to revise the cataloging rules in future by analyzing the errors of applying new rules to bibliographic record and by investigating the difficulties of applying rules in completing the bibliographic record. Also, the libraries could be easy to decide to implement the new rules from the creation time of bibliographic record by new rules and the learning curve of new rules.

우리 협회에서 간행된 한국목록규칙 3판(KCR3)은 국내의 기술목록수준을 국제적인 수준으로 한 단계 진전시키는 중요한 계기가 되었다고 자부합니다. 그 근거로 국제서지기술법(ISBD)을 수용하여 서지기술단위저록방식을 규정함으로써, 기술만으로 완전한 저록을 구성할 수 있게 되었으며, 특히 우리의 언어나 사고과정에 기초한 한국적 특수성을 목록규칙에 반영할 수 있었다는 점을 들 수 있습니다. 그러나 종래 KCR3은 단행본 중심의 목록규칙이라는 한계가 있었고, 따라서 연속간행물과 기타 비도서자료에 대한 기술규칙의 제정이 요구되어 왔습니다. 각종 비도서잘(비책자자료)와 네트워크자원이 대량으로 간행되는 시점에서 이들 다양한 유형의 자료를 목록에서 수용할 수 있는 통합된 목록규칙이 요구되고 있는 실정임에도 불구하고, 규칙제정에 소요되는 시간과 인력을 고려하여 우선 일차로 연속간행물용 목록규칙(안)을 내어 놓게 된 것입니다. 이 목록규칙(안)은 그 동안 2년여에 걸쳐 우리 협회 목록위원회를 중심으로 회의와 토록과정을 거친 것으로 도서관계에 종사하시는 사서 여러분의 의견을 수용하고자 하오니, 애정과 관심으로 검토해 주시고 좋은 의견을 개진해 주시길 간곡히 부탁드립니다. 목록규칙은 바로 우리 도서관인 모두가 다듬고 만들어 가야 할 책무가 있기 때문입니다. 어떤 형태의 의견이나 권고안, 수정안이라도 좋으니 여러분의 많은 관심과 협조를 기대합니다.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a rational guidelines of authority record for heading controls. It analyzes the headings of AACR2R and KCR2. To efficient retrieval, It suggests distinction of different persons and different corporate bodies of the same name and subject list. It also investigates the problem sand suggests the possible improvements for control of headings. The rules for heading control retains the frame from headings of cataloging rules. The guideline for heading controls will be integrated in the rules for headings.

A trivalent chromate conversion coating solution which is composed with $KCr_2(SO_4)$ as main component was investigated to test a feasibility of use as an alternative six-valent chromate conversion coating for improvement of anti-corrosion of zinc plating. The proposed trivalent convesion coating was consisted of $KCr(SO_4)$ 35~45 g/L as trivalent chromium source, $NaH_2PO_4$ 20~30 g/L as phosphate, $CoSO_4$, 10~20 g/L, $ZnSO_4$ 10~20 g/L as metallic sulfates. This trivalent chromate films which are coated by this chromate conversion coating solution under pH 2.0~2.2, immersion time of 20~25 s at room temperature are able to achieve over 120 h in neutral salt spray test to 5% white rust.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the ways to apply describing attributes and relationships of families to Korean Cataloging Rules. In order to achieve the objective of this study, the FRAD conceptual model, and the cataloging rules such as RDA, DACS2 and KCR2 were analyzed. For describing attributes of families, this study analyzed name, type, date, place, prominent member, hereditary title, language, history, and identifier of families. For describing relationships of families, this study investigated describing relationships to families associated with each resource, such as a work, an expression, a manifestation, and an item, and describing relationships between families, relationships between families and persons, and relationships between families and corporate bodies. Based on these analyses, this study suggested the application methods of describing attributes and relationships of families in Korean Cataloging Rules.

With the rapid progress toward a new cataloging model, the revision of Korean Cataloging Rules (KCR) are under discussion. The purpose of this study is to make a suggestion on constructing authorized access points for multilingual works, especially focused on the language and script of authorized access points. To the end, this study investigates (1) the extended functions and meanings of access points on the new model, (2) related guidelines and regulations reflected in International Cataloging Principles and typical cataloging rules, and (3) the characteristics of access points in the current Korean cataloging practices. Finally, (4) desirable languages and scripts of authorized access points representing multilingual works are suggested.
