Numerical modeling of the flow velocity fields for the near corona wire electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow was conducted. The steady, two-dimensional momentum equations have been computed for a wire-plate type electrostatic precipitator (ESP). The equations were solved in the conservative finite-difference form on a fine uniform rectilinear grid of sufficient resolution to accurately capture the momentum boundary layers. The numerical procedure for the differential equations was used by SIMPLEST algorithm. The Phoenics (Version 3.5.1) CFD code, coupled with Poisson's electric field, ion transport equations and the momentum equation with electric body force were used for the numerical simulation and the Chen-Kim ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model numerical results that an EHD secondary flow was clearly visible in the downstream regions of the corona wire despite the low Reynolds number for the electrode ($Re_{cw}=12.4$). Secondary flow vortices caused by the EHD increases with increasing discharge current or EHD number, hence pressure drop of ESP increases.

For decades, researchers have rigorously studied the characteristics of flow traveling around blunt objects in order to gain greater understanding of the flow around aircraft, vehicles or vessels. Many different types of flow exist, such as boundary layer flow, flow separation, laminar and turbulent flow, vortex and vortex shedding; such types are especially observed around circular cylinders. Vortex shedding around a circular cylinder exhibits a two-dimensional flow structure possessing a Reynolds number within the range of 47 and 180. As the Reynolds number increases, the Karman vortex changes into a three-dimensional flow structure. In this paper, a numerical analysis was performed examining the flow and aero-acoustic field characteristics around a circular cylinder using an optimized high-order compact scheme, which is a high order scheme. The analysis was conducted with a Reynolds number ranging between 300 and 1,000, which belongs to B-mode flow around a circular cylinder. For a B-mode Reynolds number, a proper spanwise length is analyzed in order to obtain the characteristics of three-dimensional flow. The numerical results of the Strouhal number as well as the lift and drag coefficients according to Reynolds numbers are coincident with the other experimental results. Basic research has been conducted studying the effects an unstable three-dimensional wake flow on an aero-acoustic field.
The selection of ground stations is one of the essential process of IGS (International GNSS Service) products. High quality GPS data should be collected from the globally distributed ground stations. In this study, we investigated an effect of ground station network selection on GPS satellite ephemeris. The GPS satellite ephemeris obtained from the twelve ground station networks were analyzed to investigate the effect of selection of ground stations. For data quality check, the observations, the number of cycle slips, and multipath of pseudoranges for L1 and L2 were considered. The ideal network defined by Taylor-Karman structure and SOD (Second Order Design) were used to obtain the optimal ground station network.
Some selected hydraulic characteristics including the average velocitv, geometry of the channel cross-section, and water temperature, and sediment-characteristics including suspended sediment concentration , and the size distributions of suspended and bed-sediments were collected at two measuring stations in the Cheongmi-Stream during a flood period. The river bed investigated for this study is composed completely of sands, and it can be considered a typical alluvial channel. The major results obtained from the analysis of the date collected are as follows: 1) Only during floods, a substantial sediment transport occurs in the river; 2) The stage-discharge relations are changed frequently, especially for low flows; 3) The friction in the flow increases with an increase in the flow discharge; 4) Slits and clays are dominant in suspended sediments during normal flows, while sands are dominant during floods; 5) The vertical distributions of the flow velocity and suspended sediment concentration can be described, respectively, by Prandt1-von Karman's log-law and Rouse's exponential law. It is judged that the above results are commonly adapted for other alluvial rivers, although they were obtained from a limited number of data collected from a specific river reach.

In this study, we simulate the aerodynamic sounds generated by a two-dimensional circular cylinder in a uniform flow are simulated by applying the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). The third-order-accurate up-wind scheme (UTOPIA) is used for the spatial derivatives. and the second-order-accurate Runge-Kutta scheme is applied for the time marching. The results show that we successively capture very small acoustic pressure fluctuations with the same frequency of the Karman vortex street compared with the Pressure fluctuation around a circular cylinder The propagation velocity of the acoustic waves shows that the points of peak pressure are biased upstream due to the Doppler effect in the uniform flow For the downstream. on the other hand. it quickly Propagates. It is also apparent that the amplitude of sound Pressure is Proportional to $r^{-1/2}$, r being the distance from the center of the circular cylinder. To investigate the effect of the lattice dependence furthermore a 2D computation of the tone noise radiated by a NACA0012 with a blunt trailing edge at high incidence and low Reynolds number is also investigated.
In this study, 2D computations of the Aeolian tones for some obstacles (circular cylinder, square cylinder and NACA0012 airfoil) are simulated. First of all, we calculate the flow noise generated by a uniform flow around a two-dimensional circular cylinder at Re=150 are simulated by applying the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). The third-order-accurate up-wind scheme (UTOPIA) is used for the spatial derivatives, and the second-order-accurate Runge-Kutta scheme is applied for the time marching. The results show that we successively capture very small acoustic pressure fluctuation with the same frequency of the Karman vortex street compared with the pressure fluctuation around a circular cylinder. The propagation velocity of the acoustic waves shows that the points of peak pressure are biased upstream due to the Doppler effect in the uniform flow. For the downstream, on the other hand, it is faster. To investigate the effect of the lattice dependence, furthermore, simulations of the Aeolian tones at the low Reynolds number radiated by a square cylinder and a NACA0012 airfoil with a blunt trailing edge at high incidence are also investigated.

Flow mechanism around air flow sensor of electronic control engine, especially Karman vortex type, was investigated experimentally. The two-dimensional flow characteristics in the intermediate wake region behind a triangular vortex-generator respectively apex forward facing, apex backward facing and vertical flat plates following after apex forward facing(i.e vortex-flowmeter) were investigated at Reynolods number of $ReH=1.4\times10^4$; H is the width of a triangular vortex-generator. The vortex shedding frequency for wide Reynolds number from $7\times10^3$ to $2.1\times10^4$ was also surveyed. The velocity component was measured by X-type hot wire anemometer at 8H downstream from the bluff body. The coherent structure of the intermediate wake behind a bluff body was obtained by conditional phase average technique. As a result, it was verified that the vertical flat plates following after apex forward triangular vortex-generator make not only more linear relation between free stream velocity and vortex shedding frequency but also more periodic vortex in the vicinity of the center of wake.
This paper presents unsteady computational investigations and wind tunnel tests on the flow field around a square cylinder with a gap between the body and the ground plane. Two-dimensional unsteady, incompressible Navier-Stokes codes are developed for the computation of the viscous turbulent flows. By computing the flow around a square cylinder without ground effect, three two-equation turbulence models are evaluated and the developed code is validated. The results show a good agreement with experimental values and other computational results. Critical gap height at which the formation of Karman vortex streets is interrupted, is demonstrated and another transition regime is pointed out

The fluid dynamic properties of a circular arc type sea anchor were calculated by a discrete vortex method. The flow for the surface of the sea anchor was represented by arranging bound vortices at adequate intervals. The simulations were performed by assuming that the separations occur at edges. With time, the drag coefficient was almost constant but the lift coefficient oscillated in a cycle by von Karman's vortex street. As the camber ratios increase, the drag coefficient and Strouhal number were almost constant but the oscillating amplitude of the lift coefficient increased largely.

The coherent wake structures behind a spinning cylinder placed in a uniform flow were experimentally investigated by means of phase averaging technique. With a fixed cylinder Reynolds number (Re=6,600), the conditionally sampled velocity vectors were obtained at a section of 3.0 and 10 diameters behind the cylinder for the range of spin parameter S(the ratio of the peripheral velocity to that of the uniform flow) 0 to 2. Spectral analysis and vorticity contours of the velocity data show that up to S=1.2, a Karman vortex street exists within the wake, however, the coherent structures become obscure and their vorticity strength decreases as S increase. Beyond S=1.2, a distinct vortex shedding frequency no longer exists, furthermore coherent structures disappear when S is over 1.6.
