  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent CCTV technology which is applied to a recent attracted attention real-time object detection technology in a disaster alarm system. Natural disasters are rapidly increasing due to climate change (global warming). Various disaster alarm systems have been developed and operated to solve this problem. In this paper, we detect object through Neuron Network algorithm and test the difference from existing SVM classifier. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm overcomes the limitations of existing object detection techniques and achieves higher detection performance by about 15%.

  • A cold-adapted porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (CA-VR2332) was generated from the modified live virus strain VR2332. CA-VR2332 showed impaired growth when cultured at 37℃ with numerous mutations (S731F, E819D, G975E, and D1014N) in the hypervariable region of the NSP2, in which the mutation S731F might play a vital role in viral replication at 30℃. Conserved amino acid sequences of the GP5 protein suggests that CA-VR2332 is a promising candidate for producing an effective vaccine against PRRSV infection. Further studies on replication and immunogenicity in vivo are required to evaluate the properties of CA-VR2332.

  • HEC-HMS model should be calibrated to be applied to these basins in Gangwon-do unlike the general basins. In the study, it is investigated whether the HEC-HMS model may be applied or not to Naerinchon basin where is the typical basin of Gangwon-do Additionally, the straightforword module of HEC-HMS for simulating the hydrologic characteristic of Gangwon-do basins well will be suggested by comparison of the numerical results with the observed data. The hydrologic results estimated by several modules such as Clark, SCS and Snyder methods in HEC-HMS model have been compared with the observed data for 1999~2000 storm events. It is concluded that Clark method are relatively applicable to the basins in Gangwon-do rather than the others methods. The parametric studies for HEC-HMS model should be studied further in order to apply to Gangwon-do basins more accurately.

  • Dissolved oxygen (DO) is an important factor in ecosystems. However, the analysis of DO is frequently rather complicated because of the nonlinear phenomenon of the river system. Therefore, a convenient model-free algorithm for DO variable is required. In this study, a data-driven algorithm for predicting DO was developed by combining XGBoost and an artificial neural network (ANN), called ANN-XGB. To train the model, two years of ecosystem data were collected in Anyang, Seoul using the Troll 9500 model. One advantage of the proposed algorithm is its ability to capture abrupt changes in climate-related features that arise from sudden events. Moreover, our algorithm can provide a feature importance analysis owing to the use of XGBoost. The results obtained using the ANN-XGB algorithm were compared with those obtained using the ANN algorithm in the Results Section. The predictions made by ANN-XGB were mostly in closer agreement with the measured DO values in the river than those made by the ANN.

  • The freshwater snails were collected from Kumpung reservoir in Jellabuk-do on June 6, 2009 and identified into Sinotaia quadrata (Benson, 1842) of the family Viviparidae. The S. quadrata has been known as the only species list, without habitat and morphological information in Korea. So, this paper was dealt with the taxonomic account and illustration for description of S. quadrata in the Korea.

  • Poultry welfare has recently appeared as worldwide concern as well as Korea. The recent action plan for farm animal welfare introduced by the European Commission intends to expand the body of regulatory standards. In this context, many countries and/or organization are on the verge of establishing the most optimum poultry welfare standards. To establish the most optimum standards, comparative analysis of feeding regimen before and after welfare-bestowed environment need to be preceded. Most guidelines or standards for poultry welfare do not suggest the nutritional requirements and feeding system in detail, although it is deterimental especially for the farmer. This review intends to find scientific base to establish detailed welfare feeding guidelines. However, only limited research has been conducted in the view of actual poultry welfare. The results indicated the incidence of SDS, ascites, skeletal dysfunctions caused by fast growth rate in broiler, feather pecking and cannibalism in laying hen, and feed restriction in broiler breeder could be reduced by changing nutritional regimen and feeding strategies or both. The regimen and feeding strategies are certainly near to the direction that the poultry welfare ought to be in the right track. In this article, feeding and drinking guidelines in many standards as well as welfare feeding experiments have been reviewed and compared In the view of chicken productivity, welfare physiology and poultry health.

  • Knowledge and better understanding of functions of the microbial community are pivotal for crop management. This study was conducted to study bacterial structures including Acidovorax species community structures and diversity from the watermelon cultivated soils in different regions of South Korea. In this study, soil samples were collected from watermelon cultivation areas from various places of South Korea and microbiome analysis was performed to analyze bacterial communities including Acidovorax species community. Next generation sequencing (NGS) was performed by extracting genomic DNA from 92 soil samples from 8 different provinces using a fast genomic DNA extraction kit. NGS data analysis results revealed that, total, 39,367 operational taxonomic unit (OTU), were obtained. NGS data results revealed that, most dominant phylum in all the soil samples was Proteobacteria (37.3%). In addition, most abundant genus was Acidobacterium (1.8%) in all the samples. In order to analyze species diversity among the collected soil samples, OTUs, community diversity, and Shannon index were measured. Shannon (9.297) and inverse Simpson (0.996) were found to have the highest diversity scores in the greenhouse soil sample of Gyeonggi-do province (GG4). Results from NGS sequencing suggest that, most of the soil samples consists of similar trend of bacterial community and diversity. Environmental factors play a key role in shaping the bacterial community and diversity. In order to address this statement, further correlation analysis between soil physical and chemical parameters with dominant bacterial community will be carried out to observe their interactions.
