A hexagonal hexamer of water cluster is optimized by ab initio method using the 4-31G basis set. At this geometry the nonadditive many-body interactions are calculated. The ab initio calculation with large basis set [T. H. Dunning, J. Chem. Phys., 53, 2823 (1970); 54, 3958 (1971)] shows that a pentagonal unit is rather stable among several kinds of clustering units of water molecules.

Dichlororhodium(Ⅲ) complexes of a flexible quadridentate ligand, N,N'-dimethylethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid (dmedda), have been prepared. Both cis-${\alpha}$ and cis-${\beta}$ isomers have been yielded in the $K[Rh(dmedda)Cl_2]$ complexes, which were characterized with elemental analyses, electronic absorption and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic data.

A reduced condition for liquid-gas phase transition from the singularity of compressibility is derived using diagrammatic approach and is examined in the hard sphere system. The condition turns out that the Percus-Yevick and the Hyper-Netted-Chain approximation never conceive the idea of phase transition, and explains that the liquid-gas transition does not exist in hard sphere system. The solid-fluid transition is considered on the viewpoint of correlation function and diagrammatic analysis.

The Hugoniot adiabatics and viscosity of shock compressed water have been calculated by applying the significant structure theory of water. To consider the effects of pressure and temperature, the sublimation energy has been expressed by the spherically averaged Stillinger-Rahman ST2 potential. Good agreements between theory and experiment are obtained in the whole extreme ranges of shock wave condition up to 100 GPa (lMbar).

Extraction and analysis conditions of di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DOA) and its migration contents into foods wrapped with plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film during storage and cooking with microwave were examined using gas chromatography. Experiments on the extraction solvent and method showed that the method of reflux using carbon tetrachloride for longer than one hour allowed the highest extraction of DOA. Analysis of four PVC wrap films from different factories in domestic market showed the DOA contents of 18.9% for home-use and 24.6% for retail-use on the average. The highest migration during storage was observed in pork belly, which were 21% and 26% after one and three days respectively. During microwave cooking; smaller than 5.5% of DOA were migrated into foods when the film was not contacted with foods, whereas about 49% migration was observed in pork belly contacted with film directly.

A new genus with a new species of poecilostomatoid copepod, Polyankylis orientalis, is described based on a pair of specimens collected from a tide pool on muddy shore in Korea. It represents a new family of the lichomolgoid complex with the following distinguishing characters: (1) 6-segmented antennule (resulted from the fusion of the third and fourth segments) with additional aesthetascs in male, (2) hook on mediodistal corner of antennal coxobasis (first segment), (3) proximal and distal scales on the outer margin of mandible present, (4) main axis of mandibular gnathobase short and lacking notches at the base of mandibular lash, and (5) inner margin of mandibular lash with denticulate processes. Additionally, maxillar syncoxa carries a large, pointed process on ventral surface, legs 1-4 do not show sexua1 dimorphism, and leg 4 is uniramous with 1-segmented exopod. A detailed discussion is given of its affinities with the ten existing families of the lichomolgoid complex.

Nine species of copepod parasites are recorded from nine Korean cultured bivalves. One new species, Lichomolgus similis n. sp. is included, and other eight species are: Conchyliurus quintus, Pseudomyicola spinosus, Myicola ostreae, Ostrincola koe, O. japonica, Herrmannella longicaudata, Modiolicola bifidus, M gracilicaudus. The relationship between the copepod parasites and their host bivalves is discussed.

A new species of the genus Herrmannella is described under the name of H. hoonsooi from the bivalve host, Saxidomus purpuratus. This species is characteristic in that the cephalothorax is spatulate, and the prosome and some parts of body have a hyaline material. A key to six Far Eastern species of the genus is provided.

A new species of Copepoda, Modiolicola avdeevi (Poecilostomatoida, Sabelliphilidae) associated with the bivalve Modiolus difficilis Kuroda and Habe in the Sea of Japan, is described . Although resembling close to Modiolicola bifidus Tanaka, 1961 in the body form, the new species is distinguished from M.bifidus by the more slender antenna, stouter caudal rami and more slender leg 5.
