Diffusion-Based Influence Maximization Method for Social Network (소셜 네트워크를 위한 확산기반 영향력 극대화 기법)

  • Influence maximization problem is to select seed node set, which maximizes information spread in social networks. Greedy algorithm shows an optimum solution, but has a high computational cost. A few heuristic algorithms were proposed to reduce the complexity, but their performance in influence maximization is limited. In this paper, we propose general degree discount algorithm, and show that it has better performance while keeping complexity low.

  • As energy consumptions of smartphone increase, many smartphone users suffer from the lack of energy. Thus, many researches have been studied to save energy consumed in smartphone. To avoid inconvenience from the battery depletion, we first propose a remaining energy prediction model derived from the analysis on energy consumption pattern. Based on the model, we propose the energy efficient data transmission method for delay-tolerant applications.

  • This paper introduces a fine timing synchronization based on reference signals. The proposed method first estimates a channel impulse response (CIR), and acquires the timing offset based on the change point of statistics of the estimated CIR. It is confirmed that the proposed estimator can significantly improve the fine timing synchronization performance compared to conventional schemes over diverse channel environments.

  • In this paper, we propose a day and night fog detection algorithm that is not affected by lighting conditions. First, we present the definitions and the extraction methods of fog features in daytime and nighttime environments, respectively. We then propose the fog detection algorithm using a neural network from the fog features. A set of experiments has been conducted with images taken at various environments, and the average recall of the proposed algorithm is 97.5%.

Real-Time Vehicle License Plate Detection Based on Background Subtraction and Cascade of Boosted Classifiers

  • License plate (LP) detection is the most imperative part of an automatic LP recognition (LPR) system. Typical LPR contains two steps, namely LP detection (LPD) and character recognition. In this paper, we propose an efficient Vehicle-to-LP detection framework which combines with an adaptive GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model) and a cascade of boosted classifiers to make a faster vehicle LP detector. To develop a background model by using a GMM is possible in the circumstance of a fixed camera and extracts the motions using background subtraction. Firstly, an adaptive GMM is used to find the region of interest (ROI) on which motion detectors are running to detect the vehicle area as blobs ROIs. Secondly, a cascade of boosted classifiers is executed on the blobs ROIs to detect a LP. The experimental results on our test video with the resolution of $720{\times}576$ show that the LPD rate of the proposed system is 99.14% and the average computational time is approximately 42ms.

  • The signal model and weighted-average based estimation techniques are proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrival (AOA) parameters of multiple clusters for a low data rate ultrawide band (LR-UWB) based wireless positioning system. It is observed that the weighted-average based AOA estimation technique gives an optimal AOA estimate under few clusters condition, and the average based AOA estimation technique gives a correct AOA estimate under many clusters condition through computer simulation. Also, we can observe that the variance estimation error decreases as SNR increases, and the proposed techniques are superior to the conventional technique from the viewpoint of performance.

  • This paper proposes a technology for performance enhancement of cyclic delay diversity OFDM system using frequency diversity. The frequency diversity in an OFDM system can be done as repetitive transmission of the same symbol on uncorrelated subcarrier, this makes modulation level larger according to the number of repetitive transmission for the comparison with the traditional transmission system. This technique, like cyclic delay diversity, has a benefit which it does not need any special subsidiary hardware irrespective of the increase of the number of transmitter. For the performance comparison, we simulate the proposed algorithm in multiple input single out channel environment, it shows a better performance enhancement in low dense modulation level in comparison with the traditional cyclic delay diversity OFDM system.

  • In this paper, design of quasi-cyclic(QC) low-density parity-check codes is proposed to have full diversity for space-time bit-interleaved coded modulation(ST-BICM) systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions that the proposed scheme has full diversity are proved as the condition that submatrices corresponding to the system part of codewords are invertible. And new construction method of binary invertible matrices for QC LDPC codes in ST-BICM systems are also proposed and modification for parity-check matrices are also explained.

A Study on Voice Analysis by Withdrawal Symptoms Identification of Smartphone Addiction : 20 Male College Students (스마트폰 중독의 금단 현상에 따른 음성 분석 연구 : 20대 남성 대학생을 대상으로)

  • In this paper, voice analysis is performed to propose a quantitative indication of withdrawal symptoms of smartphone addiction, applied to 20 males in their 20s. For this, their smartphones were confiscated during a certain period, and we collected samples of voice signals from them before and after that period. The pitch variation and intensity magnitude of the voice samples were used in the experiment to investigate their anxiety resulted from withdrawal symptoms. The experimental results showed an increase in pitch variation from 90% of samples, and a decrease in intensity magnitude from 95% of them. Finally, we carried out a study to find a statistical significance from the extracted experimental results through statistical analysis.

  • This paper analyzes ship area network(SAN) with integrated gateway. For the analysis, this paper analyzes reference network architecture, end-to-end connection model, traffic model, and requirement of SAN. Also, the type of network element and minimum performance of integrated gateway is derived by ship area network simulator. The performance evaluation results show that a integrated gateway operating as network switch with performance over than 30,000 packets/sec can provides end-to-end connection with satisfaction of requirement of each end-to-end connection.
