  • On the overhead distribution lines, we generally use a copper rod as a grounding electrode. It is a economical metallic structure. Recently, many new electrodes have been developed and used in the distribution system of KEPCO. Before using new grounding electrode. we need to measure the performance of each electrode for comparative analysis. This report describes the characteristic test of the grounding electrodes used in KEPCO.

  • 본 논문에서는 2006년도에 개발된 계통해석 패키지 국산품 (KW-PSS Ver.1.0)에 안전도 평가기능을 추가하여 구현하고, 기존의 조류계산 및 고장계산 모듈을 업그레이드 하여 기존 개발품을 더욱 고급화한 내용을 수록하였다. 그리고, 개발된 알고리즘을 사용자가 손쉽게 사용할 수 있도록 통합 DB 및 플랫폼을 갖춘 사용자 인터페이스를 개발하여 최종적으로는 KW-PSS Ver 2.0이 개발된 내용을 소개한다.

Environmental Assessment of Smart Grid Station Project Centered on Pilot Project of Korea Electric Power Corporation Building

  • Increased evidences reveal that the global climate change adversely affect on the environment. Smart grid system is one of the ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the electricity generation sector. Since 2013, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has installed smart grid station in KEPCO office buildings. The goal of this paper is two folds. One is to quantify the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through smart grid stations installed in KEPCO office buildings as a part of pilot project. Among components of smart grid stations, this research focused on the photovoltaic power system (PV) and energy storage system (ESS). The other is to estimate the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when PV is applied on individual houses. Results show that greenhouse gas emissions reduce 5.8~11.3% of the emissions generated through the electricity usage after PV is applied in KEPCO office buildings. The greenhouse gas emissions reduction from ESS is not apparent. When PV of 200~500 W is installed in individual houses, annual greenhouse gas emission reduction in 2016 is expected to be approximately $2.2{\sim}5.4million\;tCO_2-eq$, equivalent to 6~15% of greenhouse gas emissions through the electricity usage in the house hold sector. The saving of annual electricity cost in the individual house through PV of 200 W and 500 W is expected to be 47~179 thous and KRW and 123~451 thousand KRW, respectively. Results analyzed in this study show the environmental effect of the smart grid station. In addition, the results can be further used as guidance in implementing similar projects.

분로리액터 개폐 과전압 해석을 위한 EMTP 모델링 (Electromagnetic Transient Program Modeling for Analysis of Switching Over-Voltage on Shunt Reactor)

  • 무효전력 보상설비인 분로리액터는 전력계통의 부하 패턴에 따라서 하루에도 수 회 정도 차단기에 의해 운전되거나 정지된다. 분로리액터개폐 시 몇 가지 요인에 의해 발생하는 과전압은 차단기의 절연 성능을 저하시키며, 계통을 구성하는 전력기기에 심각한 전압 스트레스를 유발한다. 분로리액터 개폐 과정에서 발생하는 과도현상을 측정하는 것은 계통을 모의하여 차단기 성능을 검증하는 시험소 수준에서는 가능하나, 실제 계통 운전 중에 발생하는 과도현상을 측정하는 것은 여러 가지 제약으로 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 실 계통에서 지상 소전류 차단과정에서 가혹한 과도회복전압(TRV: Transient Recovery Voltage)을 유발하는 재발호(reignition)나 전류재단(current chopping) 현상에 대한 해석을 위해 전자계과도해석프로그램(EMTP: Electro-magnetic Transients Program)을 활용한 모델링 과정과 이를 토대로 분로리액터 개폐 과정에서 차단기의 고장을 유발하는 주된 현상에 대해 해석하고자 한다.

  • Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment(EVSE) is a system or an equipment to supply electric power for charging the traction batteries on the electric vehicle. EVSEs are classified with a conductive charging system and an inductive charging system by the power transfer method. Inductive charging systems are necessary to use high frequency converters to increase the output power and to reduce the size of the charging systems. In this paper, a 20kHz inverter for inductive charging system has been designed and PSCAD/EMTDC have been used to simulate the output characteristics of the 20kHz inverter.

  • Recently, due to increasing the application of power electronic equipment, harmonics generated from the non-liner load are fairly produced. Harmonics can cause a variety of problems such as the overheating of distribution transformer, the breakdown of device and communication interference. Interest about power quality decline of power system is very increased. In this paper, we are measured the harmonic voltage and current o( power system to analyze harmonic characteristics, and it is analyzed Total Harmonic Distortion(THD). Also, we Ere modeled power system using PSCAD/EMTDC. And it is analyzed harmonic voltage and current in steady-state. The study results have been indicated the utility about harmonics analysis and modelling for power system.

AC 계통 무효전력 제어를 위한 HVDC 시스템 설계 (HVDC System Design for AC Network Reactive Power Control)

  • This paper deals with the concept design of HVDC system for controlling AC network reactive power. HVDC system can control active power and reactive power and the control concept of reactive power is similar to SVC(Static Var Compensator). Reactive power is controlled by adjusting firing angle of HVDC system under the condition that AC filters are switched. Reactive power depends on AC voltage condition, considering the steady-state and transient state to maintain the stable operation of AC network in the viewpoint of voltage stability. Therefore, in the design stage of HVDC, the reactive power required in the AC network must be considered. For the calculation of operation angle in HVDC system, the expected reactive power demand and supply status is examined at each AC system bus. The required reactive power affects the determination of the operation angle of HVDC. That is, the range of "control deadband" of operation angle should have the capability supplying the required reactive power. Finally, the reactive power control concepts is applied to 1GW BTB Pyeongtaek-Dangjin HVDC system.

Development of a Live-line Insulator Inspection Tool System for 154 kV Power Transmission Lines

  • The current paper deals with a new live-line insulator inspection tool system that will be used by the Korea Electric Power Corporation for its 154 kV power transmission lines in 2011. Unlike the existing contact type tools, the developed inspection tool automates parts of the insulator inspection process using a sensor and an actuator. The tool sustains its weight independently, not by a lineman. In addition, the inspection tool measures the insulation resistance of an insulator together with its distribution voltage, thus providing more information for analysis and diagnosis. Such characteristics improve the system's operation efficiency, measurement reliability, and usability. We confirmed its effectiveness through live-line field tests with actual power transmission lines.

  • 본 논문은 한전의 "FACTS 계통운용 기술개발연구(II단계:80MVA UPFC 도입, 설치)" 연구과제에서 수행된 연구내용 중 위치결정의 배경 및 기대효과에 대한 사항을 일부 발췌하여 논문으로 작성하였다. 위 연구과제는 한전 전력연구원과 (주)효성 중공업연구소, 전기연구소, 기초연, 미국의 Siemens사가 공동으로 참여하여 80MVA UPFC(Unified Power Flow Controller) 시스템, 변압기, 통신장치 등을 제작, 설치하여 2003년 4월에 완료되는 과제이다. 전력연구원은 80MVA UPFC가 효율적이고. 경제적인 운용이 가능하도록, 한전 본사 관련부서와 협의, 전남지역의 154kV 강진변전소를 설치위치로 최종 결정하였다.

  • There are generator/turbine/boiler control system in the thermal power plant. By the way, the manufacturers are different each other in many cases. Therefore there were many difficulties in interface and maintenance of power plant. So, we have been developing the integration of all control system in a single manufacturer. Mill & burner control is analyzed in this paper.
