  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose retrofit measures for KDX-II KVLS hull crack, also, enhance safety and quality of ship. Also, this study suggest to how to retrofit about hull crack of the ship and how to improve operability of the ship. Methods: Retrofit measures of KDX-II KVLS hull crack reach a conclusion through global structure analysis and fatigue analysis. Concerned about thermal deformation due to welding around the KVLS, in addition to, verify to safety of KVLS. Results: Based on result of global structure analysis establish retrofit measures for KDX-II KVLS hull crack. Additionally, through fatigue analysis establish final retrofit measures. The results of retrofit measures are allowed both stress level and fatigue life. Conclusion: Retrofit measures for ship hull crack based on global structure analysis and fatigue analysis improves operability and quality of the ship. Especially, KDX-II ship is the best battleship in our country. Considering the importance of KDX-II, this study improves both Korea navy's combat power and ability to carry out the mission.

  • In most positioning and allocation practices, many mathematical models are proposed in various fields. The set covering (SC) problem has many practical applications of modeling not only real world problem but also in military. As our air defense weapon systems are getting older and declining the performance, new plans far acquisition of high-tech air defense weapon system are being conducted. In this paper we established simulation model for optimal allocation of KDX which carries new missile defense weapon system by using partial set covering considering both attacker and defender side. By implementating simulation model, we assess the available scenarios and show the optimal pre-positioning of KDX and interceptor's allocation. Furthermore, we provide a variety of experiments and extensive scale sized situations for Korea Indigenous Missile Defense (KIMD) and support decision-making for efficient positioning of unit.

  • In this paper, We judge War Potential of Defense Sufficiency Task Croup Using Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation(ABMS) and indicate the Republic of Korea Navy's future. We use ABMS model, Map Aware Non-uniform Automata(MANA), to be obtained the results. To overcome future threat of Japan and China in a sea around the Korean Peninsula. War Potential of Defense Sufficiency Task Group are to be at least 4KDX-III and $20{\sim}24$KDX-II. Therefore, Republic of Korea Navy have to increase the war potential scales, $11{\sim}15$ battleship with future including build-up plan of present war Potential and Improve The battleship' performance not less than that of KDX-II.

  • With the huge navy projects such KDX-III, LPX, bigger and more complicated vessel constructions are being underway in navy. In this paper, considering these trends, we performed a risk analysis on the navy vessel for the fatality of soldiers on board and presented the risk level with FN curve. Assuming a fire occurs in one of the soldier bedrooms, we established event tree to visualize the possible development scenarios and calculated the fatality for each scenario. The critical condition to survive inside the bedroom was obtained through CFAST program.
