The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement of the korean Decimal Classification System in 21th century through the analysis of history field as the subject of study. As a result of this study, some problems(for example, irrational classification number system, very simplicity of $\lceil$Table of Geographic Areas. Historical Periods. Persons$\rfloor$. improper development of class 900, necessity of some internal tables and $\lceil$Table of Racial, Ethnic, National Groups$\rfloor$, insufficiency of note etc.) were found out. This study can be useful for the future revision of KDC4 because a revolutionary improvement were provided.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems concerning music schedules of KDC. The object is especially arrangement of 670 music in the 4th edition of KDC. In this study, therefore, the development of 670 music division from the 1st edition to the 4th edition of KDC were examined first as the backgrounds. Then the expansion aspects and their problems of 670 music division in the 4th edition of KDC were analyzed. And based on the findings, some suggestions to solve the problems were proposed. These problems of music division of KDC originate in the lack of professional understanding of music, structural problem of KDC itself, and very comprehensive and contradictory revision policy. To make the KDC improved as standard classification scheme of Korea, mutual cooperation of the classifiers and specialists in music is inevitable.

This study is to suggest some ideas for improvements of classification and expansion of the arts in the KDC. In order to this study, analysed changes of terminology, auxiliary tables and notes, and expansion of classification number of the arts from 1st edition to 5th edition of the KDC. The arts of KDC did not changed from 1st to 3rd edition and changed in the 4th edition and 5th edition, and errors and problems of previous edition were not improved, and Classification number and expansion of KDC found out poor rather than different classification schedule because had a lot of Including notes. The result of analysis proposed to improved method to solve the problems.

This study investigated the general problems concerning the subject Computer Science in the KDC(Korean Decimal Classification) 4th edition based on the comparative analysis with DDC, NDC, Disciplinary Classification System of Korean Research Foundation and National Standard Science and Technology Classification and Science and Technology Classification of Korea Science and Engineering Foundation, and suggested some ideas for the improvements of them. The subject of Computer science in the KDC 4th edition will be helpful to be improved to integrate in classes 004-005 now separated into two main classes of 000(004-005) and 500(566) in KDC4, to systematize subdivisions, to add new subjects, to delete and relocate some inappropriate subjects and to add notes.

It selects the subjects as \circled1 Christianity theology, \circled2 Jesus Christ, \circled3 The Bible, \circled4 Devotional literature & life, \circled5 Evangelism, education; pastoral theology, \circled6 Ecclesiastical theology, \circled7 Worship, sacrament, \circled8 Denominations which are the divisions of Christianity in KDC 4th ed. It wants to be devoted fer the development of the schedules for Christianity.

This study was conducted to improve the classification schemes of KDC in the fields of motion picture materials. Classification schemes of the KDC, DDC and LCC for motion picture materials were analyzed and compared. From the results, KDC was found to be the least suitable classification system to handle motion picture materials because it had very poorly detailed subdivisions of items and incomplete subsidiary tables to develop some subject items to represent various aspects of motion picture fields. Some suggestions to cover the deficiencies of KDC for motion picture fields were made in terms of 9 subdivisions and 53 sub-items. Particularly, new subdivisions of ‘types of genre', ’motion picture festival', 'worldwide motion pictures' and ’people related to motion pictures' were added.

This research analyzes the revised philosophy class in the 5th Edition of Korean Decimal Classification. It depends on the 1st Edition of KDC despite of the fact that contents and words were revised and changed, numbers for classification were moved, and indices were removed from the previous Edition of KDC. The object of the 5th Edition of KDC, metaphysics and eistemology are organized in the same sub-class(綱) through modifying, sex psychology, development psychology, physiognomy fortune judgment, applied psychology are expanded that its data are increasing in psychology, ethics, moral philosophy are modified.

Library classification system is based upon academic disciplines, However, it is difficult to classify for Internet resources due to its lack of up-to-datedness and practicality. Especially, headings of Korean Decimal Classification need to reflect practical aspects and it should be also developed for classification of web based resources. The purposes of this study are to analyze the structures of directory classifications in Internet resources and to suggest additional headings of KDC as a practical library classification as well as a classification system for internet resources. Directory classification systems of Naver, Yahoo, Kyobo Internet book store, Amazon were selected and their food and culture subjects were analyzed for this study. The headings of KDC were compared to them and new possible headings were suggested with reference of NDC and DDC in the area of food and culture. This study provided a way of developing KDC for a classification system for Internet resources as well as library materials.

The purpose of this study is to suggest improvements of pharmacy field in the KDC 6th edition. To achieve this purpose, first, this study reviewed academic area and system of pharmacy. Second, we analyzed headings of pharmacy field from first edition to 6th edition. Third, we analyzed change process of classification items in pharmacy field. Forth, we investigated general problems concerning pharmacy field in the KDC 6th edition based on the comparative analysis with DDC, NLMC, and Research Field Code by Korean Research Foundation. As a result, pharmacy field of KDC has never changed since its 4th edition. And then, this study was added new subjects related to sections and subsections of pharmacy and suggested modern terminology. Also newly assigned pharmaceutics industry, cancer treatment and biological pharmaceutics fields under 518.7-.8 which do not use in pharmacy field for efficient classification.
