  • To determine the anti-stress effect of KCG(加味天麻鉤藤飮) extract on sprague-dawley rats. we conducted a research about the change of weight, activity, reactivity, c-fos protein, cytotoxicity against PC12 cell line and heal shock protein. 1) KCG extract siginificantly inhibited the decrease of body weight induced by stress, compared with the control group. 2) KCG extract had no siginificant effect in the activity and reactivity of rats between the control and the experimental groups. 3) KCG extract siginificantly restrained c-fos protein manifestation, compared with the control group. 4) KCG extract siginificantly restrained heat shock protein, compared with the control group. These results suggested that KCG might be usefully anti-stress effect.

  • Korea has a systemic problem with lack of engine maintenance, especially among the Commercial Fishing Vessel fleet. This results in a inordinate percent of SAR call-outs for vessels with engine failure. These SAR call-outs lead to a free tow to shore by KCG or by one of its volunteer associates. Although these tows are not a terrible economic burden on KCG, it is a burden in terms of time and resources mis-allocated. This paper proposes a Commercial Fishing Vessel Examination (CFVE) program modeled after the program run by USCG. It is expected that adopting the CFVE program, KCG may be able to create a culture of safety among fishermen; thus, replicating the USCG's success rates.

It is vital to inform the public of the role and mission of KCG as the only comprehensive maritime administrative agency in Korea. • The illegal fishery act committed Chinese fishing vessels have not been stopped and Korea Coast Guard(KCG) has been injured or killed by chinese fishing forces, even though the Korean Government has been trying to control the illegal fishery and repeated violent act committed by Chinese fishing vessels in our Exclusive Economic Zone. Moreover, some problems in relation to the control process of KCG to suppress the illegal foreign fishing vessels has been exposed in spite of extensive efforts of Korean Government. Improper law enforcement of KCG in relation to foreign fishing vessels would cause international dispute between related states, although the control process to the illegal fishing vessels at sea is in a way of due law enforcement process forming a State's power. To this end, this paper examines the problems raised during the control process which is including the visit and inspection of illegal Chinese fishing vessels and law enforcement process exercised by KCG and presents practical solutions through analyzing the related materials, professional's opinion and recent cases.

  • The fleet crew of Korea Coast Guard(KCG) have a wide range of roles to perform. It is already recognized that they carry dutie in inferior working conditions. Therefore, a research on leadership that concerns organizational effectiveness seemed necessary for them. This study examines whether transformational leadership style is appropriate in job satisfaction for the fleet crew of KCG. This study also proves the effect of a leadership style on job satisfaction by suggesting a hypothesis from preceding studies. In this study transformational leadership is fixed as independent variables and job satisfaction as dependent variables and six factors as demographic characteristics. It is found that Intellectual stimulation is the most influential factor, but individualized consideration is an uninfluential factor concerning job satisfaction.
