  • Novel trans-ditrifluoroacetato, malonato-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex, K104 was synthesized as a chemotherpeutic. The cytotoxicity of K104 against various human cancer cell lines were evaluated by MTS assay in vitro. The IC50 values of K104 ranged 15.83-25.83 $\mu\textrm{M}$, compared to CBCDA ranged 23.24-69.6 $\mu\textrm{M}$. Among several cancer cell lines, K104 showed more potent than CBCDA in colon cancer cell lines. (omitted)

  • The most commonly proposed mechanism for QT interval prolongation(LQT) by pharmaceuticals is inhibition of the rapid delayed rectifier potassium channel (I$\_$Kr/). The LQT potency of pharmaceuticals can be effectively evaluated by examining the effect on hERG channels expressed in CHO cells, known to be equal to I$\_$Kr/. But, It was known that hERG channels according to increase the bath temperature have several changes, including a marked increase in the amplitude of the outward and tail currents, and acceleration of the rates of activation, recovery from inactivation, and deactivation.   • Sensitive and safe method for visualization of DNA in agarose gels using visible dye is described. To improve the sensitivity, we studied a counterion-dye staining method using methyl orange as a counterion-dye which contributes to reduce excessive background staining by indoine blue. Dye concentrations, PH of staining solution, mixing molar ratio of two dyes, and staining times were optimized for the counterion-dye staining. By the staining with a mixed solution of 0.005% indoine blue and 0.00165% methyl orange in 10% ethanol 0.2M sodium acetate, 8 ng of the 3 kb DNA in an agarose gel was detected within 1hr. (omitted)

  • This paper studies the method to extend the sensing range of a fiducial maker using a tilt camera. In the system that uses a fiducial marker to estimate their position on a map, the sensing range of the marker is an important issue. Although there are markers around, a robot with a fixed camera often misses nearby markers in the case that the viewing angle of the camera does not cover the sensing range of the marker. If the robot adjusts the viewing angle of a camera by adjusting the position information of the markers, this problem will be solved. The contribution of this paper is as follows. 1) Structural considerations for the tilting module of cameras attached to robots. 2) Tilting module control method considering the position of a marker and a robot. 3) Finally, verification of the differences in the sensing range of markers between the proposed system and the previous system.

Functional Properties of Pine Needle Extract and Its Antioxidant Effect on Soybean Oil (솔잎 추출물의 기능적 특성과 대두유 산화억제 효과에 관한 연구)

  • To investigate the functional properties and the antioxidant effect of pine needle(Pinus densiflora), the pine needle extract was obtained with methanol and its functionality was measured by spectrophotometric method, and the antioxidant experiment on soybean oil was carried out by the active oxygen method. The extraction yield of pine needle with 99% methanol was about 19%, the total flavonoid content of the pine needle-methanol extract was 11.32 mg/g on dry basis and the superoxide dismutase-like activity was 94.3%. The nitrite scavenging ability of the extract was pH dependent with the values of 77.44% at pH 1.2, 48.45% at pH 3.0 and 11.04% at pH 6.0, respectively. The peroxide value was 92.6 meq/kg at 5% dosage, 138.4 meq/kg at 2% dosage of the extract on 8 oxidation days. The period of the peroxide value to be 100 mg/kg was 4.9, 6.3 and 8.5 days at control, 2% and 5% dosage of extract, respectively. And the relative antioxidant effectiveness of the extract was 27.9% and 72.3% increase at 2% and 5% dosage, respectively, compared to control. The thiobarbituric acid value showed few differences within 4 oxidation days, but with the dosage of the extract it fairly decreased with considerable antioxidant effect to control above 4 days.

  • In order to analyze the water quality variation of surface water around the Sudokwon landfill site, seasonal variations of water temperature, pH, DO. HOD, COD, SS, NH3-N, NO2-N, and NO3-N were examined at 10 sites from January to December, 1996. It was found that the estimates of COD, DO. SS, and $NH_3-N$ were Increased compared with the results of environmental Impact assessment carried out In 1988. Higher estimates of COD, DO, and SS were due to Industrial and agricultural wastewater, and the Increase of NH3-N at Jangdo reservoir strate was due to the leachate from the landfill. In particular, the estimate of 55 was found to be increased by the soil wash from the landfill during the heavy rainy days.

  • Functional properties of Solanium nigrum-ethanol extract were investigated, nitrite scavenging ability(NSA) and antioxidant activities based on thiobarbituric acid(TBA) value were measured. The contents of potassium in fruit and root, calcium in leaf were the highest mineral components in each parts of Solanium nigrum. Total aromatics contents(TAC) was order of fruit>root>leaf, total flavonoid contents(TFC) in leaf was 6 and 10 times, total phenolic compounds contents(TPC) in leaf was 15 and 30 times of those in fruit and root, respectively, and TFC was high with TPC increase. NSA of leaf-ethanol extract was 61.9% on pH 1.2, 53.5% on pH 3.0, 54.8% on pH 4.0 and 14.3% on pH 6.0, where as NSA of root and fruit-ethanol were considerably low to 3.5~7.9% over pH 1.2~6.0. TBA value of soybean oil with the dosage of leaf-extract showed few differences from control within 3 days, but it fairly decreased with considerable antioxidant effect to 47.6% of the control in 8 days.

  • Most algorithms utilized the horizontal epipolar lines for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision. However, the requirement is very difficult to be satisfied in real situations. In this paper, we propose a binocular-stereo matching algorithm, based on line matching method, which does not require the horizontal epipolar lines of the extreme pixels of a given line segment and two circles whose radius is equal to the maximum disparity. And we use the features including the direction of line segments, edge strength and cross-correlation for line matching. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can be a useful tool for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision.

  • A thermal-hydraulic analysis is conducted on the loss-of-coolant-accident (LOCA) during shutdown operation of YGN Units 3/4. Based on the review of plant-specific characteristics of YGN Units 3/4 in design and operation, a set of analysis cases is determined, and predicted by the RELAP5/MOD3.2 code during LOCA in the hot-standby mode. The evaluated thermal-hydraulic phenomena are blowdown, break flow, inventory distribution, natural circulation, and core thermal response. The difference in thermal-hydraulic behavior of LOCA at shutolown condition from that of LOCA at full power is identified as depressurization rate, the delay in peak natural circulation timing and the loop seal clearing (LSC) timing. In addition, the effect of high pressure safety injection (HPSI) on plant response is also evaluated. The break spectrum analysis shows that the critical break size can be between 1% to 2% of cold leg area, and that the available operator action time for the Sl actuation and the margin in the peak clad temperature (PCT) could be reduced when considering uncertainties of the present RELAP5 calculation.
