The switching system in a maglev train is an indispensable element for distributing train routes, and it should be designed to ensure safe operation. Unlike conventional wheels on rails, the switching track in EMS-type maglev is supported by a group of 3 to 4 steel girders. When the vehicle changes its route, the segmented track allows the girders to change from a straight position to a curved one with a small radius of curvature. Hence, the structural characteristics of the segmented switching system may affect the levitation stability of the maglev vehicle. This study experimentally evaluates the dynamic interaction between maglev vehicles and a segmented switching system. The results may be helpful for improving the switching system. The measured levitation and lateral air gaps were evaluated at a vehicle speed of 25 km/h, and the ride quality of the Maglev vehicle was determined to be "comfortable" according to the UIC 513 standard.
Background : We are in the edge of some human made disasters such as hazardous materials and air pollution, for example, the world news reported that the city of Bhopal, India had serious victims related with a leaking out of the chemical materials, Methyl Isocyanate and many people in India were killed by. These situations many people who live in this world are world are worrying about are not others, but just ours and people consider about that kind of the disasters are the possible situation to happen to all the people. Therefore, we performed this basic study to recognize the risk of Methyl Isocyanate leak accident and to prepare local disaster plan with EMS system. Method : Trace 8.0, a simulation software made by the U.S. company Safer System was used as a tool to estimate the diffusion distance, area and its victims at the concentrations of 0.02ppm, 0.2ppm 5ppm respectively for an assumed B-city of 2 hundred thousands population count in which was presumed 500kg Methyl Isocyanate gas to leak out. Results : 1. During 1 hour, maximum diffusion distances of 0.02ppm 0.2ppm and 5ppm were 5.41km, 1.61km and 0.29km respectively on the plume impact. 2. Maximum population counts influenced by Methyl Isocyanate gas at the concentrations of 0.02ppm 0.2ppm and 5ppm were 40838, 4346 and 222 on the plume impact, while those were 138238, 17261 and 1588 on the vulnerability impact, respectively. 3. Therefore, 17261 persons must put on respiratory device and 138283 persons must be evacuated to safety place within 1 hour. Conclusions : Only small amount leak of Methyl Isocyanate may cause tremendous chemical disaster in urban area, so its disaster plan must be prepared with an accident simulation program and Material Safety Data Sheets(MSDS). Especially, nearby emergency center of an industrial complex must have a strong position about preparation of chemical disaster plan and perform a disaster dill of hazardous material accident annually.

This study empirically investigated the influence of entrepreneurship and technological commercialization capabilities of domestic small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises on financial performance by mediating technological performance. To achieve this, a survey was administered to their hands-on workers in charge of R&D. The survey results were analyzed through the structural equation model as follows. Entrepreneurship had an effect on technological and financial performance. Technology commercialization capability had an effect on technological performance. However, technological commercialization capabilities were evaluated to be inferior to financial performance, which can be interpreted as financial performance being judged as different between individuals or organizations in terms of technological commercialization capabilities. Technological performance had an effect on financial performance. Technological performance played a mediating role in the effects of entrepreneurship and technology commercialization capability on financial performance. Consequently, it is very important for entrepreneurship and technology commercialization capability to develop new products and improve corporate performance with insufficient financial status or operating system completion.

This study is empirically intended to put forward the modeling and process improvement measures for the SCM capability in small venture firms. The findings are summarized as follows. There were strategic alliance, technological development and centralization in the modeling of strategic planning for supply chain, not the least of which is strategic alliance, followed by centralization and technological development. There were routing scheduling, network integration and third party logistics outsourcing in decision making, not the least of which was network integration. There were customer service management, productivity management and quality management in management control, not the least of which was quality management. And there were order management choice, pricing demand, shipment delivery and customer management in transaction support system, not the least of which was order management choice. As for the above-mentioned findings, to maximize the SCM capability and operate the optimized process in small venture firms, the existing strategic alliances can optimize the quality management and stabilize the transaction support system through the network sharing and integration from the perspective of relevant organizational members' capability and process improvement. And the strategic linkage between firms can maximize the integrated capability of information system beyond the simple exchange relation between electronic data, achieving a differentiated competitive advantage. Consequently, the systematization and centralization for the maximization of SCM capability, including the infrastructure construction based on the system compatibility and reliability for information integration, should be preceded before the modeling of the integrated capability for optimum supply chain and the best process management in the smart era.
This study analyzed the emergency activity daily reports and emergency instruction sheets of the research subjects and proceeded with the shockable cardiac arrest cases transported to 119 emergency units for two years before the hospital from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2011. The most frequently predicted instruction by the dispatchers at the 119 Emergency Situation Control Center was 74 cases of fainting (33.3%). Among varied types of predicted instructions, 112 cases (50.5%) like fainting, chest pain, general prostration and others were not able to be predicted while predictable instructions involved with cardiac arrest such as consciousness disorders, difficult breathing, cardiac attacks and convulsion were 110 cases (49.5%). In such cases, success rates of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) trials by eyewitnesses at predictable instructions involved with cardiac arrests were significantly higher. As mentioned, situation agents must categorize types of cardiac arrests accurately by posing questions over assessments regarding patients' consciousness and respiration in detail. The patients categorized by such methods must guide eyewitnesses to be able to do CPR. Moreover, not only emergency medical technicians who receive predictable instructions involved with cardiac arrests given by dispatchers (49.5%) but also filed emergency medical technicians who are not able to reach a precise conclusion to non-cardiac arrests on unpredictable instructions on cardiac arrests (50.5%) must prepare for situations related to cardiac arrests before being dispatched to the field.

ATS(Automatic Train Stop) system makes train stop when it runs over the speed limit and ensure the safe operation of train. Seoul Metro line 2 in Korea, which started its passenger service in 1982, has adopted ATS system for its signaling system. The ATS system has only a train stop function at the time of emergency, and Seoul Metro is planning to replaced them with ATC(Automatic Train Control)/ATO(Automatic Train Operation) system which can provide the dedicated speed control for headway reduction and automatic operation of train. Until all the ATS system is replaced with the new ATC system, both systems are to operate simultaneously at the same metro line. In this situation, ATS system sometimes reveals improper operation: train stops suddenly without any obstacles in front of it. These emergency stops cause interruption of passenger service, and abnormal abrasion of wheels and rail. This paper makes it clear that these interruptions are caused by EMI phenomena between ATS on-board device and ATC wayside device : Signal current flowing in AF track circuit of ATC is turn out to be a EMI source that prevent normal operation of the ATS on-board device. Although the two systems have different frequency-ranges (ATS system has frequency range between $78{\sim}130$[kHz] and ATC system has frequency range between $9.5{\sim}16.5$[kHz]), it turned out that EMI phenomena appears between the both systems. This is investigated by measuring the output signal from ATS on-board device passing over ATC wayside device. The FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) analysis of the signal reveals that AF track circuit signal is transmitted to the ATS on-board device and induce noise causing improper operation. The countermeasures to the EMI phenomena are examined in three ways; blocking EMI transmission, enforcement of EMS (Electromagnetic Susceptibility) of ATS on-board device, and blocking the EMI source. It is suggested that the practical solution be blocking EMI source temporarily, that is breaking AF track circuit signal when the trains with ATS on-board device pass over it. To this purpose, TODS(Train Occupation Detection System) is developed, and has made a success in preventing the EMI problem of Seoul Metro line 2.

This study examined the success factors of six sigma innovation in small- and medium-sized venture companies. The findings are summarized as follows. The importance of 20 items in a total of 4 factors showed that corporate vision was number one in the manager's support, followed by program composition, passionate support, high performance guarantee, and quality activity continuity. This suggests that all members can operate the program by the structured system with a sense of united goal under the company-offered vision as a community when the goal, idea or vision of six sigma activities are shared to members of the entire organization. In addition, high success can be achieved when supported by company-wide enthusiasm and high compensation for sharers' innovative efforts of six sigma at the same time. Small- and medium-sized venture companies should develop brisk six sigma activities of advanced precision parts in such an environment that the technology competition is becoming increasingly fierce. The six sigma movement should be developed as a niche strategy for small organizations with united vision sharing by company-wide operational commitment and high self-esteem for the organizational characteristics of small- and medium-sized venture companies run by key minority organizations and members.

A 59-year-old man with no specific medical or family history complained of chest pain and became unconscious. A member of his family, who was a witness, called 119 and gave him dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, followed by defibrillation using an automated external defibrillator placed in his apartment. Afterward, he was given two sessions of defibrillation by the 119 emergency squad, then transferred to an emergency medical center with the return of spontaneous circulation. The patient was discharged with cerebral performance category (CPC) 1 15 days later. While dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation is at its beginning stage in South Korea, this case seems to demonstrate its effectiveness. Moreover, this case suggests it can be particularly useful for helping untrained witnesses use an automated external defibrillator, which may have important implications in regions in which there are delayed responses of the 119 emergency squad to the site. It is also important to develop a plan for improving witness access to and quantitative supply of the South Korean public access defibrillation (PAD) program.

This study examined the effects of the R&D project managers' leadership on the product development performance. A survey was carried out empirically on a group of 175 experts associated with project management R&D operations in the field of manufacturing, construction engineering, shipbuilding, plant, and IT. The survey results showed that the effects of the R&D project managers' leadership on the product development performance were not significant, and the mediating effects of the project sponsor roles were significant. This means that the leadership of leaders, which requires efficient control and management based on complicated intergroup relationships and roles, is important in a project involving experts from the professional field. This suggests that the efficient leadership of leaders can improve the performance through the cooperation of members in the organization and aggregation of their core competencies in a limited time. Overall, the key results of this study mean that project leaders should play an active mediating role to maximize their leadership and enhance the role of project sponsors. In addition, the mediating role of project sponsors has an effect on the leadership of project managers, affecting the project performance quality.
Strain improvement and bioprocess development were undertaken to enhance hyaluronic acid(HA) production by Streptococcus zooepidemicus cells. Using a high-yielding mutant strain, statistical medium optimization was carried out in shake flask cultures, resulting in 52% increase in HA production (5.38 g/l) at the optimal medium composition relative to the parallel control cultures. For sufficient supply of dissolved oxygen (DO), which turned out to be crucial for enhanced production of HA, agitation system and speed were intensively investigated in 5 L bioreactor cultures. Increase in oxygen mass transfer coefficient (kLa) through increment of agitation speed (rpm) and 35% expansion of diameter of the newly-designed impellers showed significantly positive effects on HA production. By installing an expanded Rushton-turbine impeller for efficient break-down of sparged air, and an extended marine impeller above the Rushton-turbine impeller for efficient mixing of the air-born viscous fermentation broth, maximum amount of HA (9.79 g/l) was obtained at 450 rpm, 1.8 times higher level than that of the corresponding flask culture. Subsequently, the possibility of bioprocess scale-up to a 50 L bioreactor was investigated. Despite almost identical maximum HA production (9.11 vs 9.25 g/l), the average HA volumetric productivity (rp) of the 50 L culture turned out only 74% compared to the corresponding 5 L culture during the exponential phase, possibly caused by shear damages imposed on the producing cells at the high stirring in the 50 L culture. The scale-up process could be successfully achieved if a scale-up criterion of constant oxygen mass transfer coefficient (kLa) is applied to the 50 L pilot-scale bioreactor system.
