  • Motivated by the field experimental designs in agriculture, the theory of block designs has been applied to several areas such as statistics, combinatorics, communication networks, distributed systems, cryptography, etc. An explicit formula and its fast computational algorithm for a class of symmetric balanced incomplete block designs are presented. Based on the formula and the careful investigation of the modulus multiplication table, the algorithm is developed. The computational costs of the algorithm is superior to those of the conventional ones.

  • We derive an It${\hat{o}}$ formula for generalized functionals for the fractional Brownian sheet with arbitrary Hurst parameter ${H_1},\;H_2$ ${\epsilon}$ (0,1). As an application, we consider a stochastic integral representation for the local time of the fractional Brownian sheet.

  • This study was carried out forecasting of pollution inflow of the Small Mountainous Catchment, namely; Seolma-cheon experimental catchment. Pollutographs of DO, BOD, T-N, Conductivity, T-p, pH. COD, SS from this catchment were obtained from in-situ data of total ten events using QUAL2E-PULS model. From the analysis results, between up stream(Sabang-bridge) and down stream (Memorial-bridge, outlet) obtained relation formula of water quality component. Determination coefficient of relation formula, Conductivity, COD, BOD, DO, pH, T-N, T-P, and SS showed high relation of $0.87{\sim}0.99$. The increases of DO, BOD, COD, and pH concentration of Memorial-bridge were associated with pollution inflow by road building far 2.25km from Sabang-bridge to down stream. The analysis results of QUAL2E-PULS simulation and up/down stream relation formula, pollution amounts of DO, BOD, COD and pH increased at Memorial-bridge and pollution source site. Therefore, pollution inflow can be forecasted exactly by up/down stream relation formula at pollution source site.

  • Objectives : The objectives of this study is to establish data-base to find out similar herbal formulas with a particular herbal formula by comparing composition ratio of configuring herbs. And this thesis is to analyze differences of prescriptions and find out similar prescriptions by utilizing galenical mass ratio, which is directly related to effectiveness of galenical. Methods : This study was proceeded by using Access 2007 with Window 7(MS) and 2,787 prescriptions of which herbal configuration could be indicated by weight unit were analysed from Donguibogam. We standardize all units of the prescription and input the mass ratio data when entered galenical data. Results : We could confirm a degree of similarity between compared prescriptions and a particular prescription according to the sum of differences of herb weight ratio and similarity ratio. Conclusions : A most similar herbal formula could be searched through comparing multi prescriptions by multi prescriptions of herbal configuration from established herbal formula data-base where herb weight ratio of prescriptions is to be input.

  • Ship structures are subject to severe environmental loads causing appreciable hull girder deflection which in turn affects the piping system attached to the main hull in the form of displacement load. While this load may cause failure in the pipes, loops have been widely adopted as a measure of preventing this failure with the idea that they may lower the stress level in a pipe by absorbing some portion of the displacement load. But as the loops also have some negative effects such as causing extra manufacture cost, deteriorating the function of the pipe and occupying extra space, the number and the dimensions of the loops adopted need to be minimized. This research develops a design formula for pipe loops. The accuracy of the proposed design formula was verified by comparing two results respectively obtained by the proposed formula and MSC/NASTRAN. The paper ends with the sample example showing the efficiency of the proposed formula.

  • Objectives : This study aimed to build up information system for the 25 cases of Korean Medicine (KM) prescriptions which are used mostly often in clinic and aimed to offer information about its effect and safety to public and researcher. Methods : We used KM prescription data-bank which came from 'The Bio-informatics for herbal formula' and 'The evidence based medicine for herbal formula' projects of Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) Results : First, we analyzed prescription data and categorized 7 classes, then we built up prescription database based on it. Second, we designed and developed user functions of prescription information system, then we link it to OASIS. Third, we developed adminstration system to manage the prescription data. Conclusions : From this study we hope that KM prescription information system will be used for fusion research based on KM. Because the implemented system is linked to OASIS, we expect it will be widely used.

  • Indications of Hyeongbangpaedok-san for Soyang-type on "Donguisusebowon" are small. Therefore, indications of Hyeongbangpaedok-san for Soyang-type need to be extended for broader clinical use. There would be some methods to do that, and we could review "Dongeuibogam" that Four-Constitution Medicine formulas are based on. We reviewed Hyeongbangpaedok-san, Insampaedok-san which is the origin of Hyeongbangpaedok-san, and their modified formula(加減方) on "Dongeuibogam". As a result, we supposed 12 indications of non-classical formula(後世方) Hyeongbangpaedok-san, 2 indications of modified formula of non-classical formula Hyeongbangpaedok-san, and 12 indications of Insampaedok-san and its modified formula as possible indications of Hyeongbangpaedok for Soyang-type.

  • Background: Recently, Obesity has become a social problem in all over the world including Korea. Dietary regulation, exercise and behavior modification therapy are used in the treatment of obesity, but until now, there have been many difficulties in treating it. Objectives: To examine in obese pre-menopausal Korean females the short-term efficacy for weight loss of an herbal formula (Slim-diet). Design: A 6-week longituidinal evaluation of a herbal formula (Slim-diet) in 35 pre-menopausal females (baseline age $31.6\;{\pm}\;6.1$) with body mass index > $25kg/m^2$. Body composition was measured using bioimpedence analysis (BIA) and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Anthropometry was done by same observer. Total cholesterol, total lipid, triglyceride, and LDL-cholesterol were measured. Results: Herbal formula (Slim-diet) treatment produced significant loss of weight (P < 0.001), percent of body fat (P < 0.001, both BIA and DXA) and waist circumference (P < 0.001). It also produced significant reduction of total cholesterol and total lipid levels (P < 0.05).

  • This study was conducted to investigate mineral contents of commercial powdered infant formula for obtaining basic data on infant nutrition. 11 Commercial infant formula based on cow's milk were collected and the contents of macro minerals (calcium, phosphorous, sodium, potassium and magnesium) and trace minerals (iron, zinc and copper) were compared with Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRIs). The overall mineral contents in 100 g and in 100 kcal of infant formula satisfied the recommended formula regulation and Codex. In infant formula during 0-5 monthly age, calcium, phosphorous, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and copper could supply 233.1%, 273.5%, 156.7%, 142.0%, 150.8%, 209.3%, 171.1% of recommended daily mineral intakes, respectively. The content of iron in 0-5 monthly age formula supplied2842.6% of recommended daily iron intakes. In infant formula during 6-11 monthly age, calcium, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper satisfied their recommended daily intakes. However, sodium only supplied 76.6% of its recommended daily intake. Intake ratio between Ca/P, Ca/Mg, Ca/Fe, Na/K and Zn/cu in infant formula during 0-5 monthly age were 1.7±0.2, 11.0±2.4,64.9±10.0, 0.3±0.1, and 9.6±1.0, respectively. Intake ratio between Ca/P, Ca/Mg, Ca/Fe, Na/K and Zn/cu in infant formula during 6-11 monthly age were 1.7${\pm}$0.2, 12.9${\pm}$1.5, 80.1${\pm}$13.8, 0.3, and 9.4${\pm}$1.1,respectively. From this study, evaluation of mineral contents of commercial infant formula was established, which could strengthen the basic information on infant nutrition.
