  • In this study, the formed tool is used to machine of bearing raceway and a shape compensation scheme is proposed to compensate for shape of it in turning process. It is introduced the conventional design method of the formed tool; a simple depth compensation method and a drawing compensation method. And it is performed to investigate in detail properties of the formed tool about a tool angle and problems of a turning process of bearing raceway using the formed tool. The applicability of the proposed scheme is examined by comparing the experimental results obtained by a new designed formed tool with those obtained by a conventional tool.

  • The key technologies necessary to develop and utilize a double-action link-type hydraulic die set for the enclosed die forging are presented in this paper. Various die sets for the enclosed die forging are investigated and the technologies necessary to develop and to utilize a double-action link-type hydraulic die set are introduced in detail with emphasis on the mechanism of the die set and its kinematical behaviors, the force transmission mechanism, the criterion on the enclosed die forging and its application, the forming load prediction and the stress distribution of the link. A double-action link-type hydraulic die set is developed and it is applied to the enclosed die forging of a bevel gear.

  • The effect of coating time in arc ion plating on surface properties of the TiN-coated high speed steel(SKH51) is presented in this paper. Surface roughness, micro-hardness, coated thickness, atomic distribution of TiN and adhesion strength are measured for various coating times. It has been shown that the coating time has a deep influence on the micro-hardness, the coated thickness, the atomic distribution of Ti and the adhesion strength of the SKH51 steels but that it has little influence on the surface roughness.

  • A double roll rotary forming equipment is presented in this paper. The equipment is developed for joining the socket with the ball of a concave piston assembly with its geometrical tolerance requirements satisfied. The equipment is composed of a lathe, a double roll system and a roll pressing unit driven by the hydraulic system. The workpiece rotates by spindle chuck of the lathe while the double roll system approaches perpendicularly to the central line of the workpiece. The equipment is successfully applied to precision joining of the ball and the socket fur the concave piston assembly of a high pressure hydraulic pump.

  • In this paper, a new approach to finite element analysis for tube swaging is presented. An analysis model is developed with emphasis on the pusher that imposes back pressure in order to keep the workpiece from slipping along the die-workpiece interface especially when tapered dies are used. A rigid-plastic finite element method is employed. The approach is to simulate the tube swaging process and the results are compared quantitatively with predictions, showing close agreement with each other.

  • Woolen fabrics were manufactured in Korea since the early prehistoric period and were manufactured and used from the period of the three Kingoms and Koryo through the Chosonera. These materials were developed in to woolen fabrics through a tradition of thou-sand years. In Korea the Orient Culture of no-madic tribes and Mesopotamia Culture of stock-farming come together and developed these original woolen fabrics cultures. During the Chosen period woolen goods were frequently manufactured and used. Those re-mains consist of various hats and shoes made up of felt. And the remains which of a kind of woolen fabrics were made from the wool materials. There were various stock farms and supplies a woolen craftsman needed the wool materials.   • Since it is frequently reported, nowadays, that a variety of accidents happen in association with a street light, it is urgently demanded to take necessary measures to cope with such situation. In this aspect, it is important to study the grounding characteristics of a street light because most of the accidents are related to grounding. In this paper, therefore, the grounding characteristics of a street light have been investigated based on layers by using CDEGS. As a result of simulation, the soil resistivity turns out to be extremely important determining the characteristics of a grounding system.

  • We present the numerical characteristics of a new true stress-strain curve acquisition method over a large range of strains by the tensile test and a finite element method through comparing the results obtained by various finite element mesh systems. The method is introduced in detail. The effects of the finite element mesh systems on the results are investigated to show its numerical characteristics of the new method. It is shown that the method is quite robust, implying that it can be used as a special function of the tensile test machines.

  • In this paper, we apply a forging simulator to automatic simulation of a connecting-rod forging process and compare its results with others found in the literature. The process information comes from the distributed examples of DEFORM3D. The process is fully automatically simulated using the tetrahedral element capability of AFDEX3D, developed by the authors. Our results are compared with the results found from the related literature, already simulated using DEFORM3D by other researchers. The comparison shows that our results are relatively excellent especially in terms of mesh quality on which the solution accuracy depends mainly.

  • In this paper, we simulate a rotor pole cold forging process by a forging simulator with both tetrahedral and hexahedral element capabilities and compare the predictions obtained by the two approaches with the experiments. Hexahedral element capability runs manually while tetrahedral element capability runs automatically with help of an intelligent remeshing technique. It is shown that the tetrahedral element capability can give quite accurate solution if assisted by the intelligent remeshing technique even though the tetrahedral element itself is not theoretically and numerically clear.
