  • This study was conducted to determine the protein requirement level in adult Jindo dog (Korea Jindo Dog) through nitrogen balance experiments. 12 female dogs aged 36~38 weeks old (for early stage) or aged 45~49 weeks old (for late stage) were fed one of 3 diets containing 17, 19 and 21% of crude protein. Body weight of dogs were measured during the 12 days of feeding trial, and feces and urine were collected last 3 days of the trial period. In early stage of Jindo dog, average daily gain of dogs fed experimental diets containing 17, 19 and 21% of crude protein were -38.33, -16.25 and -12.71g/d, respectively. There was a significant differences between 17 and 21% of crude protein treatments (p<0.05) and calculated retained nitrogen were -0.29, -0.04 and -0.03g/kg$BW^{.75}$/d, respectively. In late stage of Jindo dog, average daily gain of dogs fed experimental diets containing 17, 19 and 21% of crude protein were -34.05, -28.71 and -28.28g/d, and calculated retained nitrogen were -0.33, -0.06 and 0.09g/kg$BW^{.75}$/d, respectively, and were significantly higher (p<0.05) in dogs fed 21% of crude protein diet than those of other dogs. In early stage and late stage of adult Jindo dog, a calculated linear regression equation for nitrogen intake (x) and nitrogen retention (y) were y = 0.7484x-1.18 ($R^2$ = 0.9923) and y = 0.88231x-1.0894 ($R^2$ = 0.9982) and the requirement of crude protein were estimated as 9.85g/kg$BW^{.75}$/d and 7.72g/kg$BW^{.75}$/d from above equation.

  • To investigate the cycle and relative frequences and the fine structure of seminiferous epithelia in mature Jindo dogs, histologic study was performed. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Type A spermatogonia appeared approximately 1.6 times as many at stage II as compared to stage I while type In spermatogonia appeared small amount in stage III, IV and V. type B spermatogonia were found during the stage VI to VIII, though not detectable during stage I to V. The type B spermatogonia divided at stage VII to produce the preleptotene primary spermatocytes at stage VIII. The number of primary spermatocytes of the leptotene phase markedly increased during stage I to II, and the primary spermatocytes of the pachytene phase were shown the least in number at stage IV. The secondary spermatocytes could be seen only at stage IV. 2. The relative frequencies of each stage from stages I to VIII of the cycle of seminiferous epithelia were 31.6, 11.9, 10.0, 3.2, 8.2, 10.1, 11.7 and 13.2% respectively. 3. On electron microscopic observations, acrosomal vesicle of spermatids appeared larger though the bulk of germ cells were the morphologically same as those of the other animal species. Thread line structures light microscopically observed in the cytoplasm of Sertoli cell were the longitudinal orientation of mitochondria.

  • It has been known that garlic, one of the essential ingredient in korean food, has a hypotensive effect. and it is reported that they lower the level of triglycerides, cholesterol and glucose in blood. Especially, the sulfur containing amine acid and the derivatives of the garlic has the counteracting effect to heavy metals. Nowadays, the garlic is known for its efficiency for the various kinds of cancer, neoplasms, hypertension, arteriosclerosis and apoplexy. But, it is reported that the intake of the excessive amount of garlic causes hemolytic anemia recently. The hemolytic anemia is more severe especially in HK phenotype dogs which has a Na-K-ATPase activity. Therefore, this study was performed to examine the effect on the blood of the HK phenotype Jindo dogs when administered the excessive amount of garlic. HK phenotype group showed the significant decrease on RBC, WBC, PCV, Hb, MCV, MCHC, GSH, Met-Hb but LK phenotype group didn't show the significant decrease.

  • This study was conducted to investigate changes in blood properties of high potassium (HK) phenotype Jindo dogs (15kg$\pm$2kg) after daily oral administration with water celery extracts (10 ml/kg) for 7 days. Blood samples were collected for three days in a row before administration of water celery extracts. After water celery extracts administration, blood samples were collected at 3h, 6h, 9h and then on daily basis until day 10 post administration (PA). At day 15, final sample was collected. Blood samples were analyzed on the basis of red blood cell (RBC), white blood cell (WBC), packed cell volume (PCV), hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, mean corpuscular volume(MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC), gluthathione concentration(GSH) and met-hemoglobin(Met-Hb) concentration. The significant changes (p<0.01, p<0.05) of RBCs were shown at 3 h to day 5, and days 7 and 9 after administration. PCV values were decreased form 3 h to day 10 after administration. Mean Hb concentration showed significant increase as 3 h to day 3, and day 6 to day 9 after administration. The significant changes (p<0.05) of WBCs were shown at 9 h and day 1 after administration. The increased numbers of MCV were detected at days 6 to 9 after administration (p<0.05, p<0.01). The significant changes of MCHC were shown at 9h and day 1 after administration. The significant increases (p<0.01, p<0.05) of GSH concentration were detected at days 1, 6 and 7 after administration. In Met-Hb concentration, the significant increases (p<0.05) occurred at only 9h and day 7 after administration, The significant increases (p<0.01, p<0.05) of reticulocyte were detected at days 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Data from blood samples collected at day 15 after administration showed that all of blood analysis results returned to normal level, compared to controls.

  • Our country security industry 1960's service expense of the beginning U.S. army unit it accomplishes the growth which is quick with start, currently about 2,500 triumph the security enterprises which it goes over are being active. But the majority in these enterprise about lower cotton can a forever characteristic with pressure and the manpower civil official ability insufficient back of faithlessness management and capital power. To sleep with afterwords it presents the security dogs deployment plan for an efficient security together from the research which it sees hereupon and it does. First, it cultivates the domestic mountain progress dog which is a breed which is suitable with the security dogs and the shovel flesh dog back with the security dogs. Specially the Jindo of the breed which is excellent training which is suitable in task of the security dogs it leads and if it uses appropriately, it industrializes our specific the Jindo and protection there is a possibility of getting the effect which falls to also the gist which it rears rightly. It cultivate the second, security dogs and it magnifies training. The security dogs consequently is it will be able to accomplish the task above 2 branches to training method. Namely, after finishing obedience training, it is to be in security activity it will execute guard or detection back special training which is suitable in task and it will be able to commit. Third, it uses the security dogs which is trained rightly in task. The security dogs the adult escorts, facility expense, the explosive and narcotic drug detection, it will be able to use with the other blind man guidance dogs back. The narcotic drug detection dogs which currently is used specially technique intelligence anger, when considering the tendency of the narcotic drug smuggling offense field which becomes diversification that the role very it is important is a possibility of saying at day. It cultivate a fourth, escort relation specialty manpower and it improves the breed of the security dogs. The hazard which cultivate the security dogs use necessary personnel the breed of security dogs, the security dogs training center it opens the security crane relation subject of the college which stands and (university) it improves it establishes and training which is suitable in task it is to do to execute letting in the training map company. Specially, the hazard which improves the breed of security dogs in the progress mind quality which stands against the portion where the breed improvement is demanded as the portion where the internal organs research and investment are necessary sees. The security dogs compares in labor cost and the expense holds few, if it uses the our specific domestic dogs it will be able to use efficiently in the task which is various it solves the multi branch plans for wisly with the security dogs industrial development security of course contemporary history sliced raw fish sees demands compared to being immediacy and the life which is happy business the place where it does it sees it will be able to contribute a lot as.

  • Hemoglobin, albumin and transferrin phenetypes observed in a population of 255 dogs of various breeds by agar gel electrophoresis for hemoglobin and albumin, and by starch gel electrophoresis, for transferrin. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The hemoglobin phenotypes were classified as HbAA, HbAB and HbBB and the frequencies of appearence were 91.77, 6.27 and 1.96%, respectively. Gene frequency studies of $Hb^A$ and $Hb^B$ showed the $Hb^A$ gene to have a frequency of 94.9% and $Hb^B$ gene to have a frequency of 5.1. The frequency of hemoglobin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog (ylelow) was HbAA 76.19%, HbAB 17.46% and HbBB 6.35% and HbBB was recognized only in the Korean Jindo dogs. 2. The albumin phenotypes were calssified as AlbAA, AlbAB and AlbBB and the frequencies of appearence were 28.71, 43.57 and 27.72% respectively. Gene frequency stduies of $Alb^A$ and $Alb^B$ showed the $Alb^A$ gene to hate a frequency of 50.50% and $Alb^B$ gene to have a frequency of 49.50. The frequency of albumin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog was 26.32% for AlbAA, 34.21% for AlbAB and 39.47% for AlbBB. The frequency of albumin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog was slightly different from others and gene frequency of $Alb^B$ was 56.58. 3. Transferrin studies resulted in findings of 10 different phenotypes and frequencies of transferrin phenotype were 30.08% for $TfA_1A_1$, 8.02 for $TfA_2A_2$, 2.11 for TfBB, 4.64 for $TfC_1C_1$, 1.69 for $TfA_1B$, 41.35 for $TfA_1C_1$, 5.49 for $TfA_2C_1$, 0.84 for $TfA_2C_2$ and 3.79 for $TfBC_1$. Gene frequency studies of $Tf^A$, $Tf^B$ and $Tf^C$ showed the gene to have a frequency of 63.08% for $Tf^A$, 4.85 for $Tf^B$ and 32.07 for $Tf^C$ 4. Transferrin studies revealed two different band patterns on starch gels with a strong and weaker stained one. The $TfC_2C_2$ and $TfA_2A_2$ which were found in the Korean Jindo dog only showed a weaker stained band and the gene frequency of $TfA_1A_1$ was highly recognized in this dog.

  • In an effort to obtain basic data of carbohydrate metabolism during spermiogenesis of the sexually-matured Jindo dog, the glycogen distribution in the testis was investigated by light and transmission electron microscopy. Periodic acid thiocarbohydrazide silver proteinate physical development(PA-TCH-SP-PD) staining method provided better results in the detection of glycogen granules from Sertoli cells and germ cells than the periodic acid schiff(PAS) staining method did. Pre-treatment of the tissue sections with ${\alpha}$-amylase elicited a significant decrease in PA-TCH-SP-PD stained granules, which suggested that the stained granules were of glycogen origin. High concentration of the glycogen granules were observed in the Sertoli cells, especially in its column, sheet-like processes, club-like processes, and tubular processes. The glycogen granules were unevenly distributed in some Sertoli cell columns. These results strongly indicated that the Sertoli cells of Jindo dogs showed vigorous activity of carbohydrate metabolism.

  • The pelvic distraction-stress radiographs of 50 clinically normal Korean Jindo which confirmed to have non-dysplastic hip joints on the ventrodorsal extension view, were investigated to evaluate the passive coxofemoral joint laxity as quantified by the distraction index. The synovial fluid cavitation of the unilateral coxofemoral joint was detected in 8 dogs, and distraction index was not measured in theses cavitated joints. The distraction index measured minimally 0.20, and maximally 0.74. The medial distraction index for the dog examined was 0.42, and 75th percentile distraction index was below 0.50.
