  • A 13-years and 8-months old Jindo dog showed vomiting and pale red vulvular discharge. At necropsy, the uterus was swollen and endometrium was diffusely thickened by numerous protruding cysts which measured approximately from 0.5 to 1 cm in diameter. On sectioning the cysts exuded pale red watery fluid. histologically the endometrium was thickened and characterized by mild to moderate edema congestion and hemorrhagic foci. The cystic endometrial glands were lined by a single layer of flattened cuboidal or vacuolated columnar epithelium. Occasional dilated glands had traversed through the submucosa into the myometrial region. Afew mixed inflammatory cells infiltrated in the lamina propria. Bacteriologically Escherichia coli was isolated from the uterine contents. Gross and microscopic finding were consistent with cystic endometrial hyperplasia.

  • In an effort to obtain basic data of carbohydrate metabolism during spermiogenesis of the sexually-matured Jindo dog, the glycogen distribution in the testis was investigated by light and transmission electron microscopy. Periodic acid thiocarbohydrazide silver proteinate physical development(PA-TCH-SP-PD) staining method provided better results in the detection of glycogen granules from Sertoli cells and germ cells than the periodic acid schiff(PAS) staining method did. Pre-treatment of the tissue sections with ${\alpha}$-amylase elicited a significant decrease in PA-TCH-SP-PD stained granules, which suggested that the stained granules were of glycogen origin. High concentration of the glycogen granules were observed in the Sertoli cells, especially in its column, sheet-like processes, club-like processes, and tubular processes. The glycogen granules were unevenly distributed in some Sertoli cell columns. These results strongly indicated that the Sertoli cells of Jindo dogs showed vigorous activity of carbohydrate metabolism.

  • The pelvic distraction-stress radiographs of 50 clinically normal Korean Jindo which confirmed to have non-dysplastic hip joints on the ventrodorsal extension view, were investigated to evaluate the passive coxofemoral joint laxity as quantified by the distraction index. The synovial fluid cavitation of the unilateral coxofemoral joint was detected in 8 dogs, and distraction index was not measured in theses cavitated joints. The distraction index measured minimally 0.20, and maximally 0.74. The medial distraction index for the dog examined was 0.42, and 75th percentile distraction index was below 0.50.

  • A 9-month-old castrated male Korean Jindo was presented for evaluation of a progressive left forelimb lameness of 4 weeks' duration. On physical examination, the dog showed moderate weight bearing lameness on the left forelimb. Firm and mild swelling was palpated, and range of motion was decreased in the left elbow. Signs of pain were elicited by gentle flection and hyperextension of the left elbow. On radiographs, fragmentation of the medial coronoid process with moderate secondary degenerative joint disease was found. The bone fragments could be seen more clearly on stress radiograph of the left elbow joint which was taken while flexing the elbow and inwardly rotating the antebrachium. A medial elbow arthrotomy was performed, and the loose fragments were removed from the coronoid region. Left forelimb lameness improved markedly after surgery.

  • This study presented the results of ophthalmic examinations performed on 545 Korean Jindo dogs. The most prevalent ocular variation within normal limits was hyoid vessel remnant (12.7%) and prominence of lens suture was also noticed (1.7%). The most common ocular diseases were retinal scars (6.8%), focal cataract (4.6%) and persistent pupillary membrane (4.2%). Inherited ocular diseases found in this study were persistent pupillary membrane (4.2%), persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (0.6%), retinal dysplasia (0.6%), entropion (0.4%) and progressive retinal atrophy (0.4%). The prevalence of ocular diseases was higher in Male than in Female and proportionately higher in the older dogs. The most prevalence was shown in white coat color dogs. The fundus color changes according to the age was not related in coat colors and shown same pattern.

  • The case that HVDC system is connected to the strong AC network has little the considering problems. However, because there are many problems(example for voltage stability, inertia and low frequency resonance) in case of connecting the weak AC system, a detailed attentions are needed. This paper deals with HVDC control algorithms, which are operated within 1 second on viewpoint of time domain, that is, transient stability. • A 2-year-old outdoor, spayed, female Korean Jindo dog was referred for thoracic and abdominal masses. Diagnostic imaging revealed generalized lymphadenopathy and a significant amount of pleural effusion. The cytological evaluation of the pleural effusion and fine-needle aspiration of the mediastinal lymph nodes confirmed the presence of fungal hyphae. The histopathological examination of the mediastinal lymph nodes stained with Grocott's methenamine silver revealed fungal mycelia, and Aspergillus terreus was identified based on fungal DNA sequencing. Thus, the dog was diagnosed with disseminated canine aspergillosis caused by A. terreus. This case report describes a rare case of disseminated canine aspergillosis caused by A. terreus in a Korean Jindo dog.
