  • We report on a Soeumin patient with spontaneous sweating after a lung segmentectomy resulting from aspergillosis. During her inpatient stay, the patient received Soeumin Gwakhyangjunggi-san, Hwanggigyeji-tang, and Seungyangikgi-tang for herbal medication. She also received acupuncture, moxibustion, pharmacopuncture, and cupping therapy. A numeric rating scale (NRS) was used to assess the improvement of symptoms. Sweating was reduced, as reflected by an NRS change from 7 to 0, when the herbal medication changed from Soeumin Gwakhyangjunggi-san to Hwanggigyeji-tang. General weakness and chest discomfort were also relieved after using Hwanggigyeji-tang and Seungyangikgi-tang. These results suggest that Hwanggigyeji-tang and Seungyangikgi-tang are clinically effective for Soeumin patients who are appropriately diagnosed with yang collapse syndrome in the postoperative setting.

  • This study reviewed whether radiology-related pictograms listed on the website of hospitals deliver clearly, accurately and quickly the necessary information. TOPSIS was carried out to select the most fitting pictograms for the department of radiology, department of radiation oncology, and department of nuclear medicine. The finally selected pictogram for the department of radiology shows an image of the chest (lungs), while that for the department of radiation oncology shows the process of treatment using equipment. Using these pictograms as standards seem to be appropriate to a certain level. However, the pictogram for department of nuclear medicine has a symbol for a nucleus and is thus inappropriate to meet the standards for a hospital pictogram. This study is meaningful in that it has established evaluation methods and procedures relaetd to radiation pictograms.

  • This study aims to investigate the improvement in basic CPR quality on the basis of the hip joint angle of the rescuer among students in the Department of Emergency Medical Technology who completed a basic CPR curriculum. In this study, we carried out a comparative analysis using SimPad SkillReporter and Resusci Anne® QCPR® to measure the quality of CPR (depth of chest compressions, full relaxation, compression speed, and more) on the basis of the rescuer's hip joint angle in accordance with the 2015 AHA Guidelines and conducted chest compressions and CPR 5 times in a 30:2 ratio. It was found that maintenance of the rescuer's hip joint angle at 90 degrees while compressing and relaxing the chest made a statistically significant difference in both the experimental and control groups. Moreover, this indicated that the closer the hip joint angle was to 90 degrees, the better was the quality of basic CPR. However, there was no significant difference in the hip joint angle, degree of CPR, depth of chest compressions, chest compression speed, chest compression and relaxation percentages (%), accuracy of chest compressions, hands-off time during CPR, and percentage of chest compression time (p > 0.05). Maintaining the hip joint angle at 90 degrees for basic CPR was not significantly different from not maintaining this angle. Nonetheless, good results have been obtained at moderate depth and 100% recoil. Therefore, good outcome and high-quality CPR are expected.

Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires and 343 apartments dwellers were used for this study. The major results are as follows. The bathroom types were mostly unit bathrooms and were not suited with using bathrooms of apartments dwellers. The unit type of bathroom was not comfortable for them and most of them were not satisfied with their bathrooms. They usually used family bathroom instead of private bathroom. They wanted a separate space for different facilities such as a bathtub and toilet, a dressing room, and a fixed clothes chest. Generally apartments dwellers did not prefer unit bathrooms, prefering instead the bathroom plan with separate rooms for the bathroom and toilet, with space for dressing. This study suggests that further studies be conducted on apartments dwellers in other big, small and medium-sized cities. Also, it is necessary to offer bathroom plans which take the size of houses and bathrooms, and the number of bathrooms into account and to survey housing consumers' satisfaction of those bathroom plans.

  • Heart sounds of patient's chest could be heard using an analog stethoscope. However, auscultation of a heart sound can be diagnosed differently by each doctor hearing it. Therefore the condition of each patient is determined by the subjective comments based on the hearing ability of a physician who has years of experience. In this paper, through analysis of heart sound and heart rate of the patient's condition, we will define minutely how to diagnose the condition of patient using a wireless digital stethoscope diagnostic system. And it is possible to perform an objective medical diagnosis by applying LCR (Level Crossing Rate) and to show the relationship of a disease using this system.

  • The purpose of this study provides measurements of radiation dose from MDCT of head, chest, abdomen and pelvic examinations. A series of dose quantities that are measured of patient weight to compare the dose received during MDCT examinations. Data collected included: weight together with CT dose descriptors, volume CT dose index (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP). The effective dose was also estimated and served as collective dose estimation data. Data from 1,774 adult patients attending for a CT examination of the head (n=520) or chest (n=531) or abdomen (n=724) was obtained from spiral CT units using a same CT protocol. Mean values of CTDIvol was a range of 48.6 mGy for head and 6.9, 10.5 mGy for chest, abdomen examinations, respectively. And mean values of DLP was range of 1,604 $mGy{\cdot}cm$ for head, 250 $mGy{\cdot}cm$ for chest, 575 $mGy{\cdot}cm$ for abdomen examinations, respectively. Mean effective dose values for head, chest, abdominal CT were 3.6, 4.2, and 8.6 mSv, respectively. The degree of CTDIvol and DLP was a positive correlation with weight. And there was a positive correlation for weight versus CTDIvol ($r^2$=0.62), DLP ($r^2$=0.694) in chest. And head was also positive correlation with weight versus CTDIvol ($r^2$=0.691), DLP ($r^2$=0.741). We conclude that CTDIvol and DLP is an important determinant of weight within the CT examinations. The results for this study suggest that CT protocol should be tailored according to patient weight.
