We investigated response characteristics of twisted nematic (TN) cell with different nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) and cell gap d on a rubbed polyimide (PI) surface. High transmittance and fast response time of the TN cell on the rubbed PI surface were achieved by using high birefringence (${\Delta}n$) and low cell gap d. The response time of TN cell on the rubbed PI surface was measured 5.1 ms. The transmittance and response time of the TN cell on the rubbed PI surface decreased with decreasing ${\Delta}nd$.

This study explains the han-ok. in Gae-sung, which was antique and traditional city. In view of the fact that these were located in Gae-sung in North Korea hence direct investigate is not possible. Since there was no comprehensive study of Gaeseong han-ok, we have no choice but to rely on fragmentary records and memory of Gaeseong people. In accordance from the Japanese colonial era's surveys and sketches as well as how they were illustrated in the novel. Hark back to the peoples' thought of the han-ok years when they ran the survey in 1920s, the results were as follows: First, there are many houses so various classes in Mi-Mang. Jeon Cheo-man's house was a representative example of a rich family in Gae-sung, Jeon Je-seong(Jeon's 2^nd son)'s house was located in Si-jeon(government licensed-markets) near by the South gate. In particular, Jeon Yi-seong(Jeon's 3rd son)'s house was in rural areas. He managed on immense ginseng field and worker's houses. Hae-ju's house was a small house off the track. Second, the outer house is low and the main house is high and neat. Lastly, it was confirmed that it corresponded to sketches recorded by architects, such as neat housekeeping, long stones used for various purposes, invisible flat gates, the appearance of old and old houses and the composition of each room.

Previous studies have shown that modified Je-Ho-Tang (MJHT) has anti-platelet effects. Je-Ho-Tang (JHT), a Korean court beverage, is a traditional Korean herbal medicine that has been used for the treatment of a disease attended by great thirst, and for prevention of illness in hot summers. We made MJHT from JHT by excluding honey. The present study was performed to determine the acute oral toxicity of crude extract of MJHT in male and female ICR mice. We investigated the in vivo single dose acute toxicity of MJHT hot-water extraction. This test was orally administered once by gavage to 20 mice of each sex received doses of 0 (control group), 1250, 2500 and 5000 mg/kg body weight. Mortalities, clinical findings, autopsy findings and body weight changes were monitored daily for 14 days following the administration. We observed survival rates, general toxicities, changes of body weight, and autopsy. No significant lethality was observed after single oral administration of MJHT at the different dosages. Autopsies on the animals revealed no gross abnormalities. Therefore, the LD50 value of MJHT for ICR mice was estimated more than 5000 mg/kg by the oral route. These results suggest that no toxic dose level of MJHT in mice is considered to be more than 5000 mg/kg. Consequently, it was concluded that MJHT have no effect on acute toxicity and side effect in ICR mice.

In this paper, mesoscale optical surface structures are found to possess both geometric and wave optics features. The study reveals that geometric optic analysis cannot correctly predict the experimental results of light transmission or reflection by mesoscale optical structures, and that, for reliable analyses, a hybrid approach incorporating both geometric and wave optic theories should be employed. By analyzing the transmission patterns generated by the mesoscale periodic pyramid prism plates, we show that the wave optic feature is mainly ascribed to the edge diffraction effect and we estimate the relative contributions of the wave optic diffraction effect and the geometric refraction effect to the total scattering field distribution with respect to the relative dimension of the structures.

Objectives: This study was performed to elucidate the effects of Kwibi-tang extract(KB) on dermal fibroblast. Methods: To demonstrate the effects of KB on dermal fibroblast, we used human dermal fibroblast(F6) and UVB light(30 $mJ/cm^2$) was used to damage to dermal fibroblast. we measured the nitrite production, LDH release in UVB-irradiated dermal fibroblast to elucidate the action-mechanism of KB. Also, we evaluated cell proliferation of dermal fibroblast and the amount of increased PICP, TIMP-1 in dermal fibroblast. Results: 1. KB decreased the cell proliferation of F6 dermal fibroblast in concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/ml$. 2. KB decreased the synthesis of PICP in concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/ml$. 3. KB decreased the synthesis of TIMP-1 in concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/ml$. 4. KB have no effect on the damage in UVB-irradiated F6 dermal fibroblast. Conclusions: From the results, we concluded KB decreases the cell proliferation and collagen synthesis in dermal fibroblast. So we suggest that KB has the anti-hyperplasy of dermal fibroblast.

This study presents the cases of a 67-year-old female with an isolated left sacral fracture and a 69-year-old female with fractures in sacrum 1, 2, and the left pubic bone. Both patients exhibited marked improvement following integrative Korean medicine treatment, encompassing acupuncture, acupotomy, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and cupping therapy. The treatment's efficacy was assessed using the numerical rating scale (NRS) scores, range of motion (ROM) in the lumbar spine, and alterations in gait and walking distance. Case 1 demonstrated an enhanced ROM and achieved independent walking after 29 days of treatment. Case 2 improved in both ROM and NRS score and could walk independently after 49 days of treatment. Significantly, radiological images showed notable changes in both cases following treatments. The study indicates that integrative Korean medicine treatment could provide clinical advantages to individuals suffering from sacral fractures.

Bell's palsy is an acute facial paralysis caused by peripheral facial nerve dysfunction. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of Korean medicine in the treatment of three patients who were hospitalized and diagnosed with Bell's palsy within 2 weeks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. The patients were administered with Korean medicine treatments, steroids, and antiviral drugs. Moreover, the Korean medicine treatments include acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, physical therapy, and herbal medicine. Symptom improvement was evaluated daily using the Yanagihara facial nerve grading system, a facial function evaluation tool. Furthermore, it was suggested that the patients affected by Bell's palsy after COVID-19 infection may have a slower improvement in their treatment progress compared with those without COVID-19 infection in the acute stage.

Objectives : This study was to investigate the correlation of subjective stress caused by traffic accident with patient's prognosis. Methods : We investigated 53 cases of in-patient with traffic accident. The patients answered that questionnaire about subjective pain and stress on hospitalization day and leaving hospital day. And we calculated statistically signification with this data. Results 1. IES-R-K score of female group was significantly higher than male group's. 2. There was statistically significant correlation between IES-R-K score and admission duration. 3. After hospitalization treatment, there was statistically significant reduction of VAS and IES-R-K score. Conclusions : There was significant correlation between subjective stress and prognosis.

Objectives : The purpose of this research was to compare remote and near acupuncture point needling with near acupuncture point needling acupuncture on posterior neck pain treatment. Methods : We divided 36 patients with posterior neck pain patient into two groups and treated Group A with near acupuncture and remote acupuncture point needling and Group B with near acupuncture point needling. The efficacy of treatment was measured by VAS scores and NDI scores of before and after 5 days to start treatment. Results : Both group A and B represented effective improvement in VAS and NDI of neck pain. And group A is more effective than B group statistically. Conclusions : It was suggested that near acupuncture and remote acupuncture point needling might have more effect compared with near acupuncture point needling acupuncture on posterior neck pain treatment.

Objectives : This study was perfomed to know the effect of functional dyspepsia on the prognosis of peripheral facial paralysis. Methods : We divided 42 patients with Peripheral Facial Paralysis who had admitted at Semyung University Chung-ju Oriental Hospital into two groups, The A group which had Functional Dyspepsia, and The B group which didn't have Functional Dyspepsia. Then we applied acupuncture, physical therapy, herb medicine to the patients. The effects of treatment was evaluated by Yanagihara's unweighed grading system. Results : A group's improvement index which is measured by Yanagihara's unwei ghed grading system was lower than B group's improvement index. Conclusions : Through oriental medicine treatment, the patients recovered significantly. The patients who has functional dyspepsia recovered slowly than the patients who has not functional dyspepsia.
