  • Distribution, duplication and manipulation of the digital contents are very easy due to the characteristics of the digital contents. Thus, damages of invasion of property right rapidly increase due to infringement of copyright for the digital contents. To prevent illegal use and to settle conflict about ownership of the digital contents, continuous efforts with enormous expense are devoted. In this paper, we design and implement real-time audio watermarking system to protect ownership and copyright for the digital contents. The proposed system also clarifies where the responsibility about the illegal distribution lies. The system has convenient user interface so that general administrator without an expert knowledge of the protection of copyright can use easily. In addition, unlike the traditional watermarking system, our system has merit to offer information about the illegal distribution for clear post-management.

  • The distribution of three typical warm-temperate evergreen trees, Quercus acuta Thunb., Neolitsea sericea (Blume) Koidz., and Machilus thunbergii Siebold & Zucc., were surveyed on the Korean Peninsula based on field and specimen investigations and the distribution maps of the three species were prepared. The distribution patterns of the species correspond to the south coast floristic region in Korea, which includes the distributional areas of Jeju-do, Isl. Ulleung, the southern coastal areas, and the areas up to the islands around Incheon in the Yellow Sea. The northernmost limit of the distribution of Quercus acuta is Isl. Nap of Incheon in the west, and a new distribution was found at Isl. Ulleung in the East Sea; additionally, the limit of Neolitsea sericea is the Deojoek archipelago of Incheon. The northernmost limit of Machilus thunbergii is Isl. Daecheong of Incheon, which is the highest latitude among those of the three species. This distribution survey of evergreen broad-leaved trees in Korea can be used as basic data for the delimitation of floristic regions and as a bio-indicator of climatic change.

  • Artificial life is used in various fields of applied science by evaluating natural life-related systems, their processes, and evolution. Research has been actively conducted to evolve physical body design and behavioral control strategies for the dynamic activities of these artificial life forms. However, since co-evolution of shapes and neural networks is difficult, artificial life with optimized movements has only one movement in one form and most do not consider the environmental conditions around it. In this paper, artificial life that co-evolve bodies and neural networks using predator-prey models have environmental adaptive movements. The predator-prey hierarchy is then extended to the top-level predator, medium predator, prey three stages to determine the stability of the simulation according to initial population density and correlate between body evolution and population dynamics.

  • In this paper, the performance of joint equalizer and phase-locked loop in underwater communications is analyzed. In the channel where the Doppler frequency exists, it is difficult to recover the transmitted data only by the equalizer. To compensate for the Doppler frequency, the phase-locked loop is used. For removing the time-varying multipath and the Doppler frequency simultaneously, the equalizer and the phase-locked loop operate jointly. Also, if the initial Doppler frequency error obtained by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is compensated, the convergence speed of the joint equalizer and phase-locked loop can be improved. To verify the performance, lake and sea experiments were conducted. As a result, it was showed that the joint equalizer and phase-locked loop converges sufficiently in the preamble (known data) period regardless of whether the Doppler frequency is compensated or not. And, the bit error in random data period is not occurred. However, we can increase the convergence speed of the equalizer more than twice through the compensation of Doppler frequency.

  • In this paper, a frame synchronization structure for the Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulation method in underwater acoustic communication was proposed. The proposed frame synchronization structure is largely divided into two. First, the approximate position and frequency offset of the frame are obtained by non-coherent correlation and sliding Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method. Second, after compensating for the frequency error to the received signal, the exact position of the frame is obtained by coherent correlation method. Maritime experiments were conducted to confirm the performance of the 2-STEP frame synchronization structure. It was showed that the limitations of the non-coherent correlation and sliding FFT method can be verified when the power of the received signal was greatly reduced due to the channel characteristics. As a result, stable frame synchronization could be obtained by compensating for the frequency error and then using the coherent correlation method.

  • Sanbangsan and Yongmuri Beach as geosites are very wide areas, and tourists have accessed them via various courses; hence the need to double the number of geosite signs and disperse them at each point. The signs should read "Sanbangsan lava dome," "Yongmuri tuff ring," and "Relationship between the Sanbangsan lava dome and Yongmuri tuff ring." The contents of the sign should be systemic, simple, and clear because tourists have to read it in a short time. The viewpoint of the research area can be largely divided into Sanbangsan View, Yongmuri Beach View, Sanbangsan, and Yongmuri Beach View. Three of each viewpoint (total of 9 viewpoints) can be placed. In the geosite of Sanbangsan and Yongmuri Beach are 5 sub-theme views including the boundary sheet of Sanbangsan and Yongmuri tuff ring, xenolith basalt, marine pothole, tafoni, and crossed sedimentary layer. These sub-theme views are important in understating not only the geosite but the overall geopark as well, so they should be developed and utilized aggressively.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the spatio-temporal patterns of changes in seasonal extreme temperature events in the Republic of Korea based on daily maximum and minimum temperature data sets observed at 61 weather stations for the recent 40 year period (1973~2012). According to analysis of regional average data, in spring increases of warm days are most distinct, while in summer reductions of cool nights and increases of warm nights are most noticeable. The similar patterns to those in summer are observed in fall, while in winter reductions of cool days and nights are notable. Regardless of the magnitude of urbanization, changes in nighttime extreme temperature events prevail in transitional periods between seasons, while those in daytime extreme temperature events do so only in particular months. In contrast, cool days in spring and summer, warm days in summer and warm nights in winter do not show any statistically-significant changes at most of stations. The sensitivity of seasonal extreme temperature events to increases of seasonal average extreme temperature is greatest in the case of warm days ($+6.3days/^{\circ}C$) and cool nights ($-6.2days/^{\circ}C$) in spring, warm nights ($+10.4days/^{\circ}C$) and days ($+9.5days/^{\circ}C$) in summer, warm days ($+7.7days/^{\circ}C$) in fall, and cool nights ($-4.7/^{\circ}C$) in winter, respectively. These results indicate that changes in seasonal extreme temperature events and their sensitivity to changes in seasonal climate means under a warmer climate are occurring with seasonally and diurnally asymmetric magnitudes in Korea due to complex climate feedbacks.

  • This study was conducted to investigate 106 grassland farms in six provinces including Chungcheongbuk-do, Gangwon-do, Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeju-do, and Jeollanam-do to present their problems and causes by surveying the actual state of grassland farms during three years(2014~2016). The grassland survey was divided into three categories; used as the perennial grasses and annual forage crops (Complied with Grassland Act), not used as the perennial grasses and annual forage crops (Not complied with Grassland Act) and failed to meet the farmer and some items are missing or inaccurate (Insufficient contents). Among the surveyed grassland farm, 68 farms (64.2 %) were complied with Grassland Act but 30 farms (28.3 %) were not complied with Grassland Act. Especially, the 8 farms (26.7 %) not complied with Grassland Act used the grassland as other purposes such as tree growing, golf club and swine farm etc.. Therefore, strict on-site investigation by local governments is required to prevent the grassland from being used by illegal purposes. And there's a strong likelihood that 5 farms (62.5 %) avoided the survey violate the positive law. Grassland grades used by the local administrative agencies were not influenced by the factors affecting the yield (existence and non-existence of overseeding and fertilization by grassland grade, soil pH and organic matter content). This results suggest that there is a fundamental problem on the current grassland grade system based on the yield and the irregular time of investigation and lack of on-site investigation are another causes for inaccurate grassland grade. Therefore, the new method evaluating grassland grades which is not based on yield and the thorough on-site investigation by local administrative agencies are necessary when the grassland grade is evaluated.
