이 연구에서는 24마리의 Japanese White 토끼를 대상으로 양쪽 비골을 인위적으로 골절시킨 후 초음파치료가 골절의 치유에 효과가 있는지를 알아보았다. 초음파 치료 후 대조군의 비골과 실험군의 비골에서의 골소주 비율은 차이가 없었으며 초음파 주파수를 0.875 MHz로 하였을 때와 3 MHz로 하였을 때의 골소주 비율도 차이가 없었다. 따라서 초음파 치료는 토끼의 비골 골절의 치유 효과가 없었다. 그러나 다양한 주파수와 초음파 전달양식을 변화시켰을 때 골절치유 효과가 있는지에 대해서는 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.

Gene and cell transfer technique will serve as a powerful tool for the genetic improvement of the poultry and to yield useful products. For avian transgenesis, Japanese quail may serve as an excellent animal model because of its small body size and fast growth rate. Recent progress was described on the manipulation of quail embryos such as the introduction of foreign genes and cells, and the subsequent culturing of the manipulated embryos yielding hatchlings. Intraspecific donor-derived offspring have been available in quail, however, further investigation will be required to obtain interspecific offspring with the aim of rescuing endangered species. Trans genesis will also be useful for improving the profitability and quality of poultry stocks and for developing stocks with novel uses. Considerable progress should soon be made toward the production of transgenic poultry. The key feature of the procedure described here is that embryos are initially taken out from the shell for ease of manipulation and then placed back in culture in addition to various operations midway during culture.

In this study, we propose the calibration algorithm for the solar channel (550 ${\sim}$ 900 nm) of MTSAT 1R which is the Japanese geostationary satellite launched on 26 Feb. 2005 and located at $140^{\circ}E$. We developed a method utilizing MODIS-derived BRDFs for the solar channel calibration over the bright desert area. Targets are selected based on the desert's brightness, spatial uniformity, temporal stability and spectral stability. The 6S model has been incorporated to account for directional effects of the surface using MODIS-derived BRDF parameters within the spectral interval in interest. Results based on the analysis for the period from November 2007 to June 2008 suggest that MTSAT-1R solar channel measurements have a low bias within 5%.

The Wooden Stupa of Hwangnyongsa Temple, existed from Shilla to Koryo Dynasty, is recognized as a typical model of the Korean wooden stupa. The related records on this stupa are found in some historical documents including The Chronicles of the Three States ${\ulcorner}$三國史記${\lrcorner}$. This study, through the interpretation of these documents, attempts to discuss and analyse design and structural methods of the stupa, viz., i) the relationship with both Chinese and Japanese wooden stupa, ii) the height, iii) each floor's linking methods, iv) the 'Noban' (Basement of the upper part), v) structure of the 'Simju' (Central pillar) and vi) the stairs and the handrails. The results of this study would be hopefully used for the further researches as well as the restoration of this precious architectural asset.

The successful knowledge and information based companies facilitate to restructure the industry and strengthen the national competitiveness in the future. The advent of information age provides us new challenge because the information breakthrough can play a pivotal role in terms of knowledge transfer in the human resource management. This research focuses on best practices of human management and contrasting the human resource strategy of Japanese and American firms respectively, Based on this, we suggest the strategic alternatives of the described HR problems as well as the way of effective human resource management for Korean venture firms. We have reviewed the previous international and domestic literatures in details to understand HR liabilities of newness of venture firms in terms of the population ecology. The objective of this research is to solve the HR problems that Korean firms faced with.

This research empirically examined changes in the images of Korea over three points in time among Japanese, Chinese, and U.S. visitors to South Korea. Between March 14 and May 31, 2005, about two to three months after the 2005 Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Show ended, 153 tourists from America, 129 from China, and 156 from the Japan completed the survey instrument. The results from a General Linear Model (GLM) with repeated measures showed that tourists from all three countries had more positive images after the Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Show than before it. It was concluded that the 2005 Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Show appeared to have a significant positive effect in enhancing the image of South Korea. The study suggests that an internationally significant trade Show can change the image of a tourism destination in a short time period.

Korea rapidly arranged urbanization and overpopulation with high growth of economy and all kinds of decrepit facilities are scattered all over the downtown. If there is a strong wind in fire, fire is rapidly increased by various fire spread factors. And Korea cannot build prediction model of urban fire combustion phenomena because there is no studies that physically explains the suitable flame phenomena for its real state. In this study, based on the Japanese Urban fire simulation to target the traditional market area and suitability of fire risk assessment were reviewed.

The root of Polygala tenuifolia Willd (PT) is known to have neuroprotective effects and as an antidementic herb in Chinese and Japanese traditional medicine. We examined potential neuroprotective effects of PT using the 4-vessel occlusion model in rats. In this study, the efficacy of PT for the prevention of neuronal damage and for the reduction of memory impairment was investigated. The results indicate that PT confers significant neuroprotection especially for ischemic hippocampal neurons.

This paper contributes to the ongoing controversy over price and volatility spillovers across countries by providing new evidence with the futures data of the S&P 500 and Nikkei 225 index futures contacts from January 3, 1990 to April 16, 1996. Based on the two-stage symmetric and asymmetric GARCH models we document that both the U.S. and the Japanese daytime returns significantly influence the subsequent overnight returns of the other market. We find no signs of volatility spillovers between two international markets with the symmetric model. However, with the asymmetric models, we find that the magnitude of foreign negative shocks are different from the positive ones. The findings generally suggest that the two markets are more sensitive to the bad news originating in the other market. This nature of transmission between two markets would have important implications to the arbitragers who are trying to exploit the short-term dynamics of price and volatility movements across two security markets.

Drying characteristics of fresh Korean-type rehmannia (jiwhang) noodle was investigated to determine drying kinetic parameters under the experimental conditions of 5 temperatures (30, 40, 60, 80, and $90^{\circ}C$). Drying curve of the noodle showed a biphasic pattern of decrease in drying rate with initial rapid drying followed by slow dehydration as the progress in drying. In all drying conditions, only falling drying rate period was observed and the drying rate of the noodle was greatly influenced by the drying temperature. The effective diffusion coefficients ($D_{eff}$) were determined by the diffusion model and their temperature dependency was determined using an Arrhenius equation. The activation energy ($E_a$) values for the drying of the noodle were 19.94 and 21.09 kJ/mol at the initial and the latter stage of dehydration, which were comparable to those of pasta or Japanese udong dehydration.
