  • Because of a recent trend of the open and globalized world economy, international trade is getting bigger and there is a trade competition among many countries, resulting in competition between harbor industries. Therefore, as hub-port development of China, Japan and Taiwan is more actively progressing than any other times, Korea should prepare a powerful management system to take the initiative over them. Above all, a new recognition of the governmental officers in charge of political management about hub-port industry and early development of the northeast hub-port are needed. To maximize its distinctiveness from competitive ports, port sale should be actively managed. As well, as port functions are diverse, accompanied site development should be prepared. In conclusion, in order to improve functions of a port and develop the port as a general complex of physical distribution, the government should encourage the accompanied site development and support preparation of a customs-free area and a general system of physical distribution.

한.미 FTA 농업부문에 관한 연구 (Agricultural issues under FTA between Korea-United States)

  • FTA is acting as a central axis to accomplish the worldwide trade liberalization as FTA has been globally spreading with competition. As the global economic depression and the trend of new protectionism are getting grave, and the trade liberalization of GATT and WTO is getting delayed, FTA is spread as an alternative. FTA is often called as RTA: Regional Trade Agreement(regional free trade agreement) which takes place mainly around the neighbor nations or regular districts, and these days, it is tending towards agreements between long distant nations, so, it's not limited to the regular districts. Among the FTA agreement items, in addition to the customs abolition, the opening and investment liberalization of service market like finance, communication etc., intellectual property rights are included in the government's target range. Korea also is actively proceeding FTA conclusion. Korean government has concluded the agreements with Singapore, european nations beginning from Chile concluded in 2003, and is proceeding more the negotiations with Japan, Canada, Mexico, India etc. Now in 2009, FTA of Korea-United States is actually waiting for just the passage of assembly ratification. But, if FTA becomes effective, because our domestic market should be entirely opened, it is expected that the blow against our domestic agricultural field which is weak, compared with that of the United States, a nation of worldwide agricultural products, is not an ordinary one. According to it, we need a whole plan to cope with, so, the purpose of this study is to suggest the strategy by comparing and analysing the Korean agricultural competitive power, and to find the other development stratagem.

조선 개항장의 감리서(監理署)와 기록 - 부산항을 중심으로 - (The Superintendent Office (Gamriseo) at the Open Ports in Joseon Dynasty of Korea and Related Records: Focused on the Busan Port)

  • 이 연구는 개항장에 한시적으로 설치되었던 감리서의 설치과정 및 관련 기록을 부산항을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 먼저 감리서가 요구되는 시대상황을 파악하기 위해 부산항이 개방되어 가는 과정을 살펴보고, 감리서 기록이 생산되는 맥락정보를 파악하기 위해서 감리서의 직제와 설치와 폐지에 대해 살펴보았다. 다음으로는 감리서가 업무를 수행하면서 생산하거나 접수한 기록을 감리의 기능에 따라 교섭기록, 재판기록, 경무기록, 통상기록, 목민기록, 일록의 여섯 유형으로 나누어 각 기록의 내용을 살펴보았다. 부산항의 개방과 관련한 조약과 감리서의 설치와 폐지에 관한 칙령들은 "고종실록"이나 "승정원일기" 등 연대기 자료와 "한말근대법령자료집"에 게재되어 있다. 감리서에서 생산하거나 접수한 원본 문서는 대부분 규장각에 소장되어 있는데, 목록이나 해제만 제공되고 있으며, 일부는 "각사등록"과 "구한국외교관계부속문서"에 게재되어 있다. 이러한 감리서 관련 기록들 가운데 "고종실록"만 국역되어 있으므로 연구의 활성화를 위해서는 국역과 원문 서비스 제공이 시급하다.

조선후기 여자 혼례복에 관한 연구 (A Study on Wadding Dresses for Women in the Latter Period of Chosun)

  • Wedding ceremony is a most basic and significant rite of religion. Clothing fur the ceremony is also assumed religious in essence. Thus this study focuses on ideas and religious qualities implied in wedding dresses for women in the latter period of Chosen. Among those wedding dresses for women in the public class, in this study, Yeom-Eui(염의), Won-Sam(원삼) in green and Hwal-Ot(활옷) are discussed. Yeom-Eui seemed preferred by only some of the nobel class who still considered manners and customs as very important. The rest people often wore a brilliant Hwal-Ot rather than Yeom-Eui under influences of a loosened social position system and sumptuous moods. Since a wedding is the reflection of social condition and at the same time a religious rite, the above mentioned difference in wedding dresses between the class of scholars obsessed with Confucianism and the rest public seems attributable to differences in values and religious views between the two groups. Of course, Hwal-Ot was also transmitted from the Chinese nation of Tang, so it complied with a contemporary flunkeyism about Chinese culture. Won-Sam and Hwal-Ot were designed with patterns representing the very significance of wedding and those wishing worldly blessings more children and more sons, longevity and wealth and prosperity. The fact that wishes of more children and more sons were more often implied by patterns of wedding dress in the latter Chosen indicates the legitimate oldest son-oriented patriarchical family system at that time influenced to such contemporary dresses. Meanwhile, those patterns used for Won-Sam and Hawl-Ot were influenced mainly by Confucianism, but sometimes based on Buddhism and Taoism. It suggests that the Chosun dynasty emphasized Confucian manners and customs to restore previous values which had been about to be collapsed since wars with the Chinese Ching and Japan, but nevertheless in the public class, Buddhism and Taoism were more deeply prevailed. This was supported by patterns and colors shown in wedding clothing.

  • 대한민국 등대의 역사는 일제가 국외 침략을 목적으로 한반도에 설치한 것에서 시작되었다고 알려져 있다. 이러한 주장에 따르면 1903년 인천에 처음으로 등대가 설치된 이래 일제 강점기를 거치면서 근대적인 항로표지시스템이 구성되었다는 것이다. 그러나 이 점에 대해서는 좀 더 신중하게 고려할 필요가 있다. 국제 항구의 도시로서 그리고 초량왜관의 도시로서 부산은 15세기 초 이래로 한일 외교관계의 중심지였다. 그렇기 때문에 이미 오래전부터 부산에는 해상 국제교류를 위한 항만시설이 발달되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 지금까지 해양에 관련된 역사자료가 부족하고 기초연구가 미비하여 올바른 역사를 정립하는 것이 어려운 실정이었다. 최근 들어서 부산해관 고문서의 번역이 마무리 되었고, 초량왜관 관련 고지도들을 집성한 자료가 편찬되면서 보다 객관적인 부산의 역사를 정립할 수 있게 되었다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 논문은 고지도와 문서들을 통하여 오래된 국제 항구도시 부산의 초량항에 초점을 두고 부산 항로표지의 기원에 관하여 고찰하고자 한다.

일본인의 종교심의 구조 - 학생들의 의식조사에서 알 수 있는 것 - (The structure of the Japanese religious mind: Some observations taken from research surveys on the religious attitudes of college students)

  • Various social surveys conducted by mass media and government agencies in recent years in Japan suggest that the percentage of those who believe in religion are between twenty and thirty percent. However, more than seventy percent of Japanese visit Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples during the New year period. Although there are varying interpretations on whether Japanese people are religious or not, detailed research shows the existence of certain religious tendencies among Japanese. I base my estimates on research surveys of college students covering a period of almost ten years. It is helpful for understanding the religiosity of the Japanese to differentiate between "clear-cut religion" and "peripheral religious phenomena." The exact boundary between these two categories, however, is difficult to clearly demarcate. "Clear-cut religion" refers here phenomena which are directly related to established religious organizations such as shrine Shinto, Buddhist sects, or Christianity. "Peripheral religious phenomena" covers such phenomena as fortune telling, mystical phenomena, religious customs and similar matters. It is often said that the younger generations are less concerned with religion. Our seven surveys questioning several thousand college students, conducted between 1995 and 2001, show that only between six and seven percent of the students state that they believe in religion. Additionally, the extent of negative attitudes toward religion quite remarkable. On the other hand, students who take part in conventional ritual such as a New year's visit to a shrine or temple and visiting the graves of ancestors amount to about fifty percentage. In spite of the prevailing negative attitude toward religious groups, these students have apparently kept a certain level of interest in religious customs. Moreover, they show a relatively strong interest in fortune telling, mystical phenomena, or supernatural phenomena. The exact degree of a positive attitude toward peripheral religious phenomena differs according to the level of being informed on these matters. As a whole, they largely rely on information gained from their families and local communities. Therefore, we can conclude that there is a degree of transmission of religious culture among younger generations.

An Empirical Study on the Effects of Export Promotion on Korea-China-Japan Using Logistics Performance Index (LPI)

  • Purpose - "Trade Facilitation" aims the easier flow of trade across borders, driven not only by effective customs administration, the efficiency of appropriate authorities, but also by telecommunications, the quality of infrastructures and competent logistics. Facilitating trade will help lower trade development costs as well as improve economic development and enhance economic benefits for emerging economies at a time when imports and exports are sent in and out across borders several times in the form of intermediate and final products. Not only that, globalization is being accelerated, which in turn increases competitiveness and this makes logistics one of the key factors when it comes to international trade. Highly efficient logistics services promote product movement, ensure product safety and delivery speed, and reduce trade costs between countries. The purpose of this study is, by using the LPI indices based on gravity model estimates, to analyze the impact of each LPI component on trade with the 20 biggest exporting countries of Northeast Asian countries-Korea, Japan, and China-which account for 19.05% of global exports. Design/methodology - Also, this study statistically analyzes the impact of trade on Northeast Asian countries' top 20 exporting countries, using the LPI indices relevant to Trade Facilitation based on the gravity model estimates. Findings - As a result, it was turned out that the distance, GDP, and the LPI components have relevant impact on the trade exports of all three countries but demonstrated little relation to the demographic perspective. Originality/value - The study also found we can increase the trade volume by improving three countries' trade partners' LPI indices since Korea, Japan, and China share most of their 20 biggest trade partners.

东亚古代文化中的阴阳理论之嬗变 (The development of the theory of yin and yang in the ancient East Asian culture)

  • When people discuss the continental cultural elements in the ancient East Asian culture, people always attach great importance to the two major cultures of Confucianism and Taoism, but offer little explanation to the significant influence of the theory of yin and yang, the important philosophical base of the two major cultures. The theory of yin and yang, existing as the theoretical source at a profounder level, possesses philosophical connotations that are always embedded into the mainstream of thought, religions and customs, displaying its unique glamour in its unique way. Its influence is more than that, however. It has exerted far-reaching influence on and is of significant importance to the development of the ancient culture of East Asia. This article aims at exploring this field of study. After the erudite scholar of The Five Classics made a voyage to the east in the early sixth century, The Book of Changes, the most important Chinese ancient classic expounding the theory of yin and yang, started to circulate among the Japanese court, via Baiji in the Korea Peninsula. As a result, the theory of yin and yang found its way to Japan. Examining the spreading channels, we learn that the theory's dissemination was largely related to the activities of Buddhist monks. Shoutoku Prince, regent of Japan at the time, was himself an enthusiastic supporter of Buddhism and was excelled in the study of The Book of Changes and the theory of yin and yang. In the Twelve Ranks System and Seventeen-article Constitution promulgated by Shoutoku Prince, the influence of the theory of yin and yang and of the theory of the five elements can be visibly discerned. This obviously proves the sublime status of the Chinese theory of yin and yang in Japan, thanks to the victory of the political clique that adored Buddhism. In the shaping course of ancient Japanese culture, the theory of yin and yang served as an important philosophical source of its development. Mythology based on Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, two earliest Japanese books that exist today, record mythological stories about the emergence of the Japanese nation. The notion about the birth of heaven and earth and the forming of Japanese Shinto, expressed in the mythological stories, not only tell us the source and historical progress of the Japanese nation but also the nation's world outlook in the transition from barbarian period to civilized period, as well as the basis for its philosophical thinking. All these were marked with profound influence of the Chinese theory of yin and yang. The theory of yin and yang, as one of the ancient Chinese academic thoughts, was accepted asa political belief when it first spread to Japan. The emergence and establishment of both the Mikado system and the centralized regime in ancient Japan drew largely on the theory of yin and yang and adopted it as an important philosophical basis to deify and aggrandize the "imperial power" so as to protect the authority of the imperial ruling and consolidate the established regime. Following the continuous strengthening and expansion of the centralized state power, the theory of yin and yang was further employed, and gradually "hidden" in Japanese culture with the passage of time, finally becoming the edge tool of ancient Japanese Mikados in exercising political power and controlling the country.

호산(壺山) 박문호(朴文鎬)의 윤리사상과 시국관 (Hosan Park Moon Ho's Idea of Morality and Viewpoint of Social Situation)

  • 호산(壺山) 박문호(朴文鎬)는 서구열강의 각축전과 일제의 침략 그리고 척사위정운동과 항일의병운동 등 참으로 다사다난한 시기를 살았다. 따라서 그의 학문과 사상은 이러한 조국의 어려운 환경과 관계되지 않을 수 없었다. 특히 그의 사상 가운데, 서구의 기독교가 전통적인 사상과 미풍양속을 파괴하는 것으로 본 점, 일제에 아부하는 역적을 토벌하고 명성황후(明成皇后) 시해에 대하여 복수할 것을 주장한 것, 그리고 서구의 제국주의적 침략은 단호히 막아야 하지만 대내적으로 개물성무(開物成務)와 화민성속(化民成俗)을 이루어야 한다는 개화론(開化論)을 주장한 것은 이러한 시대적인 역사적 환경과 직접적으로 관계된다. 호산 박문호의 시국관은 전통적인 윤리사상과 교육사상을 고수하는 입장을 충분히 보여주고 있다. 그러나 한편으로는 변화하는 새로운 시대적 요구를 외면한 것으로 보일 수도 있다. 그러나 새로운 시대적 요구라는 것도 시대적이며 사회적인 모든 여건의 제약을 받을 수밖에 없을 것이며, 전통 윤리사상을 고수한다고 하여 반드시 시대적 요구에 배치된다고 볼 수도 없다. 호산 박문호가 살다 간 시대는 왜양(倭洋)의 침략 앞에 정치적인 불안정은 극도에 달하였으며, 새로운 시대적 요구에 대한 국민적 또는 국가적 합의는 거의 이루어질 수 없는 상태에 있었다. 따라서 당시의 당면과제는, 우선 일본과 구미 각국 즉, 왜양(倭洋)의 침략을 물리치는 일보다 더 화급한 일은 없었던 것이며, 그리함으로써 정치적 안정과 사회적 안정을 도모하고 도탄에 빠진 민생을 구제하여 유가적 정치이상을 실현하는 것이었다.

필담(筆談)을 통한 조일(朝日) 의원(醫員) 간 소통의 방식 - 1763년 계미사행(癸未使行)의 필담을 중심으로 - (A study on the communication between the medical staff of Chosun and Japan to conversation by writing)

  • 본 논문은 1763년 계미사행(癸未使行) 중 의원필담집(醫員筆談集)인 키타야마 쇼우[北山彰]의 "계단앵명(?壇?鳴)"과 야마다 세이친[山田正珍]의 "상한필어(桑韓筆語)"와 이 빈케이[(井敏卿]의 "송암필어(松菴筆語)"를 연구 대상으로 삼아 18세기에 의원을 포함한 조일(朝日) 지식인들의 소통 방식 및 대립과 갈등, 교류와 협력의 상황을 확인하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 그들은 미지(未知)와의 조우를 통해 나누고, 시문(詩文)을 창화(唱和)했으며, 해부학 등 당시 서양의학에 눈뜬 일본의 상황을 가늠해보기도 했다. 또한 각 나라의 풍습을 접하고 비교하는 기회를 가졌으며, 아울러 한글에 대한 일본인의 증폭된 관심을 확인할 수 있다. 대립과 갈등은 주로 두 나라의 역사 인식과 학술적 차원의 관점 차이에서 비롯되었는데, 특히 당시 일본의 고학(古學)적 학풍이 여기에 상당한 영향을 끼쳤다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 금고문(今古文) 논쟁이나 두 나라의 음악 비교, 일본 신공황후(神功皇后)의 삼한(三韓) 정벌설 및 오규 소라이[荻生?徠]와 다자이 준[太宰純]의 학문에 대한 논쟁 등으로 상호 날선 공방이 오고갔다. 다만 간과하지 말아야 할 것은 이 중에는 한문에 의한 필담이란 제한 때문에 빚어진 상호 오해도 존재한다는 점이다. 교류와 협력은 전문 지식과 기술을 지닌 의원들을 중심으로 인삼 제법(製法)이나 질병의 치료 방법을 확인하는 절차로 구체화되었다. 또한 일본에서의 서적 구입 방법 문의 및 실제 치료 등을 통해 양국 우호의 분위기를 연장시켜 나갔다고 볼 수 있다. 결국 이들 사이에는 간혹 오해와 불신도 있었지만, 양국의 인사들은 한문이란 동아시아 공통문자를 통해 소통했고, 심도 있는 정보와 의견을 교환했다.
