Objectives: This study is aimed to describe the effects of using a traditional Korean herbal medicine, Jaeumkunbi-tang, on acute dizziness and gait disturbance that arose during treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. Methods: We closely observed one female patient who had been hospitalized complaining of trigeminal neuralgia and acute onset of dizziness. The patient was treated using Korean medical treatments, such as Oyaksungi-san, Jaeumkunbi-tang, acupuncture, and moxibustion. We evaluated the patient's condition using the visual analog scale (VAS) at the Department of Hepato-Hemopoietic System, Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital in June 2019 for 12 days. Results: The patient's dizziness was decreased after treating with Jaeumkunbi-tang for five days as measured by the VAS score. Conclusions: Jaeumkunbi-tang appears to be effective for controlling dizziness.

Objective: To describe the effects of traditional Korean medicine on dizziness and gait disturbance arising after removal of a vestibular schwannoma. Methods: The patient was treated using Korean medical treatments, such as herbal medicines (Jaeumkunbi-tang-gagambang and Yookmijihwang-Insamyangyoung-tang-gagambang), acupuncture, and moxibustion. We measured the state and progress of this case with the Korean Vestibular Disorder Activities of Daily Living Scale (K-VADL), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and a visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: After treatment, the K-VADL score decreased from 167 to 74 and the VAS score decreased from 10 to 5.7, while the BBS score increased from 3 to 42. Conclusion: Jaeumkunbi-tang-gagambang (滋陰健脾湯) and Yookmijihwang-Insamyangyoung-tang-gagambang(六味地黃湯 合 人蔘養榮湯 加減方) appear to be effective for controlling dizziness and gait disturbances occurring after removal of vestibular schwannomas.

Objective: This study reports the effectiveness of the Korean medicine treatment of patients with intracerebral and intraventricular hemorrhages suffering unilateral neglect symptoms. Case presentation: The patient was treated using Korean medicine, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and a limb activation exercise. We measured Unilateral Neglect Symptom progress with a numeric rating scale, Albert's test, Line bisection test, Clock drawing test, and Catherine Bergego Scale. After eight days of combined Korean medicine and rehabilitation exercise, the Unilateral Neglect Symptom intensity reduced from NRS 8 to 6. In addition, Albert's test score decreased from 2.5% to 0%. The Line bisection test score decreased from 19 mm to 12 mm, and the Clock drawing test score improved from 8 to 10. Last, the Catherine Bergego Scale decreased from 12 to 9. No adverse events were observed during treatment. Conclusion: This study suggested that a complex treatment including Jaeumkunbi-tang, acupuncture, moxibustion, and limb activation exercise can be effective for an intracerebral hemorrhage with intraventricular hemorrhage patient suffering from Unilateral Neglect Symptoms. Consequently, more research is needed in the future.

The cerebellum processes input from other areas of the brain, spinal cord and sensory receptors to provide precise timing for coordinated, smooth movements of the skeletal muscular system. A stroke affecting the cerebellum may cause vertigo, nausea, balance and coordination problems. The papers on central vertigo caused by cerebellar infarction were reported by Kim, Ku, Ko, Choi, and Han. Their cases were classed as Heo hoon, Dam hoon, and Sangchopungyeul yeul dam, and they treated with Jaeumkunbi-tang, Taeksa-tang, Cheonghunwhadam-tang gami, Cheonginwhadam-tang, Hachulbosim-tang. In this paper, three patients who suffered from vertigo were diagnosed as cerebellar infarction. They felt too giddy to walk without any help. After Oriental medical treatment based on Dongeuibogam, their sequelae of cerebellar infarction - vertigo, nausea, ataxia - had improved dramatically. So we report these cases, and suggest Oriental medical treatment based on Dongeuibogam have effect on cerebellar infarction. But more clinical case reports should be further examined.

Objective: This study reports on the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment in a patient with intracerebral hemorrhages with symptoms of hemiplegia, personality change, and aphasia. Case presentation: The patient was treated using Korean medicine, including Jayumkeonbi-tang with deer antler as herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, and a limb activation exercise. To evaluate the effect on clinical symptoms, a manual muscle test, the Modified Functional Ambulation Classification, and the Korean version of the Modified Barthel Index were used. After 84 days of treatment, the MMT grade of the right upper and lower limbs improved from Gr. 2+/2- to Gr. 4/3~4 on average, and personality change and aphasia were gone. Conclusion: A complex treatment that includes Jaeumkunbi-tang, acupuncture, moxibustion, and limb activation exercises can be effective following an intracerebral hemorrhage resulting in hemiplegia and personality change. However, more research is needed.
