From JIT to the introduction of a CIM supported by human based systems

  • Japanese manufacturers have seen the market swing from a sellers' market to a buyers' market by dint of changes in the economic environment. Therefore, they have found the need to establish a production system in which products can be manufactured at the speed at which they are being sold and which achieve a competitive advantage. FA activity in Japan today has begun to change from local automation to totally integrated automation. This paper introduces a bottom to top based JIT-FA system and describes how to approach and introduce a CIM supported by human based systems. A fully automated CIM system is not only flexible but also rigid. However we can realize a flexible production line system by partially introducing human based systems including a decision support system.

A Study on the Effect of Setup Time Reduction on Production Lot Sizes (생산준비시간 단축과 생산로트사이즈에 대한 연구)

  • Setup Time Reduction is an important aspect of the Just-in-Time(JIT) and Zero Inventory(Zl) Concepts since it supports reductions in manufacturing lead times and inventories. It also enables small lot sizes and kanban systems implementation for material flow - achieving major improvements in production floor management. One concept fundamental to the pursuit of JIT production in Japan and other countries is adoption of a setup time reduction. This paper looks at the necessities of setup time reduction and the relations to machine utilization. By using an EOQ model for evaluate the effect of setup time reduction, we get the results that over 75 % reduction in setup time is obtain the desired results in the lot size reduction.

Generalized Single Manufacturer and Multiple Retailers Supply Chain Model in JIT Purchasing (JIT구매를 고려한 단일 제조업자-다소매업자의 공급사슬에서 통합재고모형)

  • In this paper, we investigate an inventory system where a single manufacturer purchases and processes raw materials in order to deliver finished goods to multiple retailers. Earlier study in this type of supply chain only consider a single raw material in order to produce finished goods, but we consider multi-raw materials in order to produce finished goods. Also, we develop an iterative solution procedure to find the order quantity for the finished goods and raw materials, and the number of shipments between manufacturer and retailers that minimizes the total cost per unit time of the raw materials ordering and holding, manufacture's setup and finished goods holding, the retailer's ordering and inventory holding. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate that jointly considering the total cost results in less total cost than that of considering them separately.

  • The material lift-up and procurement management for high-rise buildings is complex and critical key to the success of projects. It has been hardly managed by the heuristic or rule-of-thumb techniques which are adapted in usual construction building sites. Especially in downtown high-rise residential building project sites, the limit of heuristic management techniques is critical. It has space constraint for materials loading and site transportation especially in finish work phases in which construction period diverse work trades struggle for their own material and manpower transportation. Hence, it is essential to adapt JIT(Just-In-Time) concept in these particular types of building construction project sites. According to the analysis of the case project sites, the communication and flow of relevant information regarding material lift-up and transportation in project sites is the key factor for successful performance. Therefore, this study analyzes the flow and site transportation of the key materials and provides the system, PLUTO(Procurement & Lift-Up for material Transport Optimizing system). This study also applies the system in the case site and verifies the model validation in actual project.

  • 간판시스템의 목적은 최소한의 자원으로 수요에 대처하고, 궁극적으로 생산리드타임을 단축하여 제품생산원가를 줄여 대외적인 경쟁력을 확보하는 데 있다. 간판생산시스템은 수요에 따라 생산하여 최소한의 재고를 보유하고 공급하기 때문에 다품종 소량생산에 매우 적합하다. 그러나 간판시스템을 도입하는 데에는 생산시스템에 많은 조건들이 전제가 되어야 한다. 그리고 간판시스템은 JIT 생산시스템을 이루는 하부구조가 안정적인 상태를 유지할 때 성공적인 도입이 가능하다. 본 논문에서 우리나라 기업, 특히 중소기업에서의 간판시스템 도입 시에 성공적인 도입을 위해 고려해야 할 사항과 절차 등 표준모델을 제공하는데 있다.

  • 생산시스템에 대한 연구는 주로 hybrid 생산 시스템 효율성의 우위를 비교적 단순한 생산환경에서 부각시키는데 초점이 맞추어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 실제 생산 환경에 근접한 모형을 세우고 MRP생산 시스템과 JIT 생산 시스템을 통합하는데 있어서 고려할 요소로서 기존의 MRP에 의한 간반의 자동 생성 이외의 다기능 작업자와 간반의 우선순위의 추가 요소를 고려하였다. 본 실험에서는 유휴한 상태의 다기능 작업자를 이를 필요로 하는 work centers로 배치하는 법칙을 도출하였고 간반의 우선순위를 부여함으로써 보다 재고 수준을 줄여 제품의 흐름생산에 가깝도록 하였다. 위 실험은 카메라 제조업체를 대상으로 모의실험은 Arena를 이용하였다.

Optimum Delivery Frequency for Reducing Construction Logistics Cost under a Carbon Taxation (탄소세 부과시 건설 물류비용 최소화를 위한 운송빈도 최적화)

  • The term 'green' has become an important way of survival for the construction industry in 21th century in accordance with the emergence of the environmental crisis due to the climatic change. Especially the policy of carbon taxation, planed to be introduced from 2012, is expected to be a considerable burden to the construction industry which has abundant carbon emission during the resource transportation due to the complexity of resources and local distribution of the construction sites. In this regard, this study shows an optimizing strategy for delivery frequency, which downsizes the net distribution costs based on the assumption that, despite of its other advantagements, the frequent small lot mode of JIT delivery would take negative effects due to the increase of costs of transportation and carbon emission once the carbon taxation policy carried out. To simulate the efficiency of the management strategies, the System Dynamics modeling has been used. The results show that the frequent small lot transportation strategy is now always efficient method to these changes, and that the frequency of transportation should be re-determinated according to the extent of the imposition of carbon tax. This study provides the conceptual frame for an efficient management of transportation system of the construction industry, showing necessity of change of the resource transportation systems through analysing JIT deliver system in accordance with the global changes in environmental economy.

  • 현재 MRP와 JIT 시스템과 같은 전통적 생산시스템의 대안 중에 가장 활발하게 연구되고 있는 분야가 DBR(Drum-Buffer-Rope)이다. 재고의 양을 줄일 수 있으며, 스케쥴링의 속도를 획기적으로 증가시킬 수 있는 DBR 버퍼의 장점을 이용하여 SCM의 납기확약 Simulator 엔진으로서 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 DBR 스케쥴링을 이용하여 납기확약 시스템을 개발하고 납기확약에 따른 단가모형을 연구하였다.

  • Goldratt박사에 의해 제창된 TOC(Theory of Constraints)는 제약조건을 찾아 개선시켜 없애고 시스템 심과를 높일 수 있는 방안을 찾는 제약이론이다. 생산공정을 포함한 모든 분야에서 제약이란 없을 수가 없다. 따라서 기존의 MRP나 PERT/CPM과 같은 무한 자원 스케줄링으로는 예상하지 못한 문제가 도출될 수 밖에 없는 한계를 제약공정의 자원능력이 유한하다는 가정에서 출발하는 제약이론으로 자원활용의 최적화를 도모할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 TOC와 많은 유사점을 가지고 있는 생산시스템인 JIT와 비교하여 아직 국내에는 활발한 연구가 이루어지고 있지 않은 TOC를 기반으로 최적 생산시스템을 연구하고자 한다.

It supports JIT based Kanban and demand pull system A new system called "PrdnMgr" is designed for the synchronized production and quality assurence using barcode and Kanban. And web based supplier pull system called "Antennashop" is developed for automatic procurement of parts.
