  • Since the examination of CTOD problem revealed that the discrepancy among CTOD's was a matte., of definition, the relationships among parameters based on different definitions have been studied Particularly, the relationship between $\sigma$BS R-curve based on BS 7448 and R-curve based on the recently introduced $\sigma$5 parameter was investigated in this research. For the comparison, compact tension specimens of used 1Cr-0.5Mo steel, heat treated 1Cr-0.5Mo steel to mimic the new one, A12024-T6, and A12024-T351 were prepared and tested. Consequently, the relationship between $\sigma$5 and $\sigma$BS R-curves for tested materials were established by shifting the rotational center which could determined by rotation factor and ligament size.

  • This paper investigates the time-dependent crack growth in X20CrMoV 12 1 steel weld joints. Crack growth test are carried out $545^{\circ}C$ on side-grooved 1/2T CT specimens under static loads. A simulated material is produced for the intercritical HAZ, where fracture normally occurs. Constitutive properties are obtained for the simulated HAZ material as well as for the base metal and weld metal. Finite element analyses of crack growth are performed on the models with and without a HAZ layer, using the experimental crack length-time history. The inclusion of HAZ layer increase the load line velocities significantly. The crack growth rates are correlated reasonably well with $C^*$. The smallest crack size for the validity of $C^*$ is found much smaller than the ASTM crack initiation size for 1T CT specimen of creep ductile materials.

Calculation of Wave-making Resistance using Neumann-Kelvin Theory (Neumann-Kelvin 이론을 사용한 조파저항 계산)

  • In order to obtain the wave-making resistance of a ship, so-called the Neumann-Kelvin problem is solved numerically. For computing the Havelock source, which is the Green's function of the problem, we adopted the methods given by Newman(1987) for the term representing the local disturbance, and Baar and Price(1988) for the wave disturbance, respectively. In the numerical code we developed, the source strength is assumed as bilinear on each panel and continuous throughout the hull surface. The wave-making resistance is calculated using the algorithm of de Sendagorta and erases(1988), which makes use of the wave amplitude far downstream. The Wigley hull was chosen for the sample calculation, and our results showed a good agreement with other existing experimental and numerical results.

Plastic Displacement Estimates in Creep Crack Growth Testing (크리프 균열 성장 실험을 위한 소성 변위 결정법)

  • The ASTM test standard recommends the use of the compact tension specimen for creep crack growth rates measurement. In the creep crack growth rate test, the displacement rate due to creep is obtained by subtracting the contribution of elastic and plastic components from the total load line displacement rate based on displacement partitioning method fur determining $C^*-integral$, which involves Ramberg-Osgood (R-O) fitting procedures. This paper investigates the effect of the R-O fitting procedures on plastic displacement rate estimates in creep crack growth testing, via detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses of the standard compact tension specimen. Four different R-O fitting procedures are considered; (i) fitting the entire true stress-strain data up to the ultimate tensile strength, (ii) fitting the true stress-strain data from 0.1% strain to 0.8 of the true ultimate strain, (iii) fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain, and (iv) fitting the engineering stress-strain data. It is found that the last two procedures provide reasonably accurate plastic displacement rates and thus should be recommended in creep crack growth testing. Moreover, several advantages of fitting the engineering stress-strain data over fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain are discussed.

  • In this study, we investigated the kinematical properties of the L1521F-IRS in Taurus region using HCN (J=1-0) molecular line. The high resolution mapping has carried out by $5{\times}5$ point observations covering $3.7'{\times}3.7'$ area using a 12-m telescope of Arizona Radio Observatory in Tucsan, USA. L1521F which harbors the faint infrared L1521F-IRS, displayed a strong central concentration of integrated intensity in HCN without serious molecular depletion. It showed a symmetric kinematical structure with the opposite infall motion in either side of the central cores. It is a direct evidence of bipolar outflows in the core of L1521F.

  • When the multicollinearity presents in the standard linear regression model, ridge regression might be used to mitigate the effects of collinearity. As the prediction-oriented criterion, the integrated mean sqare error criterion $J_w(k)$ was introduced by Lim, Choi & Park(1980). By noting the equivalent relationship between the $C_k$ criterion and $J_w(k)$ with a special choice of weight function $W(x)$, we propose a more reasonable selection rule of k w.r.t. the $C_k$ criterion than that given in Myers(1986). Next, to find the $\beta(k)$ which behaves reasonably well w.r.t. competing criteria, we adopt the minimax principle in the sense of maximizing the worst relative efficiency of k among competing criteria.

On the Vorticity and Pressure Boundary Conditions for Viscous Incompressible Flows (비압축성 점성유동의 와도와 압력 경계조건)

  • As an alternative for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, we present a vorticity-based integro-differential formulation for vorticity, velocity and pressure variables. One of the most difficult problems encountered in the vorticity-based methods is the introduction of the proper value-value of vorticity or vorticity flux at the solid surface. A practical computational technique toward solving this problem is presented in connection with the coupling between the vorticity and the pressure boundary conditions. Numerical schemes based on an iterative procedure are employed to solve the governing equations with the boundary conditions for the three variables. A finite volume method is implemented to integrate the vorticity transport equation with the dynamic vorticity boundary condition . The velocity field is obtained by using the Biot-Savart integral derived from the mathematical vector identity. Green's scalar identity is used to solve the total pressure in an integral approach similar to the surface panel methods which have been well-established for potential flow analysis. The calculated results with the present mettled for two test problems are compared with data from the literature in order for its validation. The first test problem is one for the two-dimensional square cavity flow driven by shear on the top lid. Two cases are considered here: (i) one driven both by the specified non-uniform shear on the top lid and by the specified body forces acting through the cavity region, for which we find the exact solution, and (ii) one of the classical type (i.e., driven only by uniform shear). Secondly, the present mettled is applied to deal with the early development of the flow around an impulsively started circular cylinder.

  • 고전 천수방정식을 적용한 2차원 도시홍수 모델링에서는 지형의 정확한 반영을 위해 고해상도 격자가 요구되며 이는 많은 계산시간과 노력을 필요로 한다. 최근에는 다공성 천수방정식을 적용한 도시홍수해석으로 많은 계산 노력이 요구되는 도시홍수모델링의 한계를 극복한 연구가 많이 이루어지지고 있다. 이러한 연구는 도시 홍수에서 흐름이 공간적으로 변화할 때 불균일 공극이 존재하므로 격자의 크기를 다르게 하여 이러한 불균일성을 해결하고자 하는 등방성 천수모형의 적용에서 시작되었다. 하지만, 등방성 공극을 고려한 도시홍수 해석모형은 대표요소체적(REV)보다 더 큰 격자의 적용을 해야 하는 제한성을 가진다. 반면, 비등방성 공극은 대표요소체적의 적용이 필요하지 않아 불균일 공극의 크기에 관계없이 이론상으로는 동일한 해상도의 격자가 사용가능하긴 하지만, 실제 도시홍수 해석에서 중요하면서도 도전적인 연구이다. 본 연구에서는 도시홍수의 효율적 계산을 위해 비등방성 공극을 고려한 적분형 다공성 천수방정식을 기반으로 하는 2차원 도시홍수 해석모형을 개발하였다. 모형의 개발을 위해, 적용 격자내에서 도시지역의 건물이 차지하는 길이 및 면적을 산정하고 그 값을 2차원 천수방정식에 적용 가능하도록 체적공극(𝜙j)와 면적공극(𝜓k)을 2차원 고전 천수방정식에 추가하였다. 개발모형은 고전 천수방정식, 등방성 공극 고려(미분형 다공성) 천수방정식 및 비등방성 공극 고려(적분형 다공성) 천수방정식의 적용이 가능하여, 각 모형에 적합한 2차원 격자 생성, 각 모형의 매개변수를 보정 그리고 정확성, 효율성, 적용성이 비교 가능하다. 각 모형의 정확성과 효율성 비교를 위해 3가지의 오차 비교 (구조적 오차, 격자크기 오차, 공극 모형 오차), 계산시간 비교, 공간 변동성 검증을 위한 수심 종단형상 비교하였다.

  • This paper presents synchronization of LTV (Linear Time-Varying) MAS (Multi-Agent Systems) with heterogeneous time-varying disturbances under a fixed, connected, and undirected communication network. All the agents can collect only relative state information from their neighborhoods. To achieve synchronization of the MAS, an integral control scheme is proposed based on relative state information between agents.

  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design an integral sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain systems with unmatched uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have unmatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. Using LMIs an existence condition of a sliding surface is derived. And a switching feedback control law is given. Finally, numerical examples are given to show that the proposed method can be better than the existing results for some cases.
