  • Purpose: To investigate the effects of anterior guidance (AG) change on the working (WCP) and non-working condylar paths (NWCP), and lower incisor path (LIP) using a splint with flat (FAG) or steep AG (SAG). Materials and Methods: The samples consisted of six young adult women (mean age=$23.5{\pm}3.3$ years). Inclusion criteria were skeletal Class I and normodivergent pattern, normal overbite/overjet, minimal slide from retruded cuspal position to intercuspal position, no temporomandibular disorder signs and symptoms, mutually protected occlusion, and minimal tooth wear. After the values of natural AG (NAG) were obtained as a reference for each patient, two types of splints ($15^{\circ}$ flatter and steeper than NAG) were made. After insertion of the splints with FAG or SAG, the WCP, NWCP, and LIP were recorded five times for each patient using an ultrasonic AQR (SAM, Munich, Germany) and statistical analysis was subsequently performed. Result: NAG exhibited postero-superior movement in the WCP and did not show a noticeable immediate side shift (ISS) or difference between the eccentric (EP) and returning paths (RP) in the NWCP. FAG was associated with an irregular and excessive WCP, an increase in ISS, and a difference between EP and RP in the NWCP. SAG showed minimal WCP movement and a decrease in the extent of difference between EP and RP in the NWCP. LIP showed significant differences in EP and in RP (P<0.001, all; FAG

  • Purpose: This paper studied the effect of eyes on the comparison between the distance optical centers problem of dispensing reading glasses made by optician and finished reading glasses in the current market. Methods: The method of this study has been measured by eleven different categories from +1.00D to +4.00D. This study also separated into three groups by their optical frame size and measured optical center point (O.C) and optical center height (O.H) with 200 peoples of man and females over 40 years old without ocular disease living in Gwang-san gu, Gwang-Ju city. Results: As a result, optical center point ranged from 57 mm to 80 mm and it turned to be most common range is from 61 mm to 65 mm (64.6%). Moreover, the optical center height ranged from 1 mm to 8mm and most common ranged (23%) were 4 mm. In other words, finished reading glasses have irregular optical ranges. After observing 200 people who are over 40 years old men and women, result shows that more than 75.5% (151 people) currently use finished reading glasses. Survey of 151 people, most common error between the finished reading glasses's O.C and the wearers P.D were 4 mm (45%). Furthermore, the most common error between the finished reading glassses's O.H and the wearers O.H ranged from 3 mm to 4 mm. Astonishingly, the entire 151 people who wear finished reading glasses appeal that they feel tiredness on their eyes when they wear finished reading glasses. 53 people (35%) claimed that they feel tiredness on their eyes after 10 to 20 minutes wearing finished reading glasses. Base on the research, We conducted more experiment to find the value of prism of optical centers err because it will tell us whether the finished reading glasses are good enough to wear or not. We multiplied diopter by the difference between finished reading glasses's O.C. and wearer's P.D. Consequently, We found out that the finished reading glasses counter to the German RAL-RG 915 policy. And We also found that it is relative to the diopter of lenses. In conclusion, based on the researched that wearing finished reading glasses have a dangerous factor for our vision. Therefore optician must need to recommend correctly made dispensing reading glasses based on the optical center point.

  • Statement of problem: In order to increase preload with reducing the friction coefficient, abutment screws coated with pure gold and Teflon as dry lubricant coatings have been introduced. But the reported data indicate that if screw repeated tightening and loosening cycle, an efficiency of increasing preload was decreased by screw surface wearing off. Purpose: This study was to evaluate the influence of tungsten carbide/carbon coating, which has superior hardness and frictional wear resistance, on the preload of abutment screws and the stability of coating surface after repeated closures. Material and method: The rotational values of abutment screws and the compressive forces between abutment and fixture were measured in implant systems with three different joint connections, one external butt joint and two internal cones. Moreover the stability and the alteration of coating surface were examined by comparison of the compressive force and the removable torque values during 10 consecutive trials, observation with scanning electron microscope and analyzed the elemental composition with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy Results and conclusion: 1. Application of coating resulted in significant increase of compressive force in all implant systems(P<.05). The increasing rate of compressive force by coating in external butt joint was gloater than those in internal cones (P<.05). 2. Coated screw showed the significant additional rotation compared to non-coated screw in all implant systems (P<.05). There were no significant differences in the increasing rate of rotation among implant systems (P>.05). 3. Removable torque values were greater with non-coated screw than that with coated screw (P<.05). 4. Coated screw showed insignificant variations in the compressive forces during 10 consecutive trials(P>.05) 5. After repeated trials, the surface layer of coated screw was maintained relatively well. However surface wearing and irregular titanium fragments were found in non-coated screw.

  • Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate health and life style of pediatric outpatients who visited the oriental hospital. Methods The study was composed of 363 students from elementary school, middle school and high school who visited the pediatrics department in $\bigcirc\;\bigcirc$ university oriental medicine hospital between 2005 and 2006. Results 1. The group wasconsisted with 56% of male and 44% of female student and for the age distribution, 7.4% were elementary school students, 55.6% were middle school students, and 36.9% were high school students. 2. Usually the eldest child tends to visit hosipital more than the younger ones. 3. More than a half of those students' parent had University education or beyond that. 4. There were more students who had below the level of the height-weight curve than in the higher level. 5. The average study hours of the students were 3.67 hours. An average sleep hours was 6.18 hours. An average exercise hour was 1.16 hours and an average time for watching TV was 1.71 hours. 6. Many students had hard time to concentrate on the studying for a long time. 7. For the question about the reason why they got the poor grade, they answered because of the lower concentration, and they didn't put much effort on the studying. The most they concern about was their grade. 8. Most of the students who visited the clinic said they did not feel refreshed when they woke up in the morning, and, many of them said that they don't feel okay. 9. More than an half of the students wear glasses. 10. More than an half of the students answered that they often catch a cold when the weather changes a lot. 11. A lot of them had some digestive problems. 12. As they getting older, they said they often feel back pain and shoulder pain. 13. Many students felt irritated and got mad easily. Many of them felt bored about their study and stressed out because of their tests and the university entrance exams. 14. • This study investigated the actual status of constipation. In total, 978 female students in Korea participated. We identified the relationship among constipation and life style, clothing patterns, housing patterns, dietary habits, and dietary intake in a constipation symptom group and a normal group. The actual constipation rate based on the Rome II criteria was 27.0% (n = 264). Body weight (p < 0.05) and body mass index (p < 0.05) in the constipation group were significantly higher than those in the normal group. The incidence of functional bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome in the constipation group were significantly higher than those in the normal group. The discomfort of wearing underwear was significantly higher in the constipation group than that in the normal group. The constipation group revealed a significantly higher rate of irregular dietary habits than those in the normal group. The dietary diversity score of the normal group was 4.22 (p < 0.05), which was significantly higher than that of constipation group (4.12). No significant difference in life style factors was observed. It is necessary for university female students to correct their dietary habits, maintain food intake of three times per day, and select diverse foods. Furthermore, it is necessary for university female students to wear comfortable clothing to lessen symptoms and improve constipation rates.
