  • Ka-band payload of COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) launched in June 2010 was developed by ETRI with Korean local companies and also the in-orbit test (IOT) for the Ka-band payload was carried out entirely with domestic technology. The Ka-band payload IOT consisted of the antenna pattern measurements and the payload RF performance test was performed during about 40 days from 10 days after the launch. In this paper, the IOT methods and the results for the Ka-band payload are described in detail. According to the comparisons of each IOT test result with the corresponding ground test result, we can show that the Ka-band payload IOT and verification was successfully achieved and that all Ka-band channels of COMS are to be normal.

  • As the number of IOT devices is growing rapidly, various 'see-thru connection' techniques have been reported for efficient communication with them. In this paper, we propose a deep learning based IOT device recognition system for interaction with these devices. The overall system consists of a TensorFlow based deep learning server and two Android apps for data collection and recognition purposes. As the basic neural network model, we adopted Google's inception-v3, and modified the output stage to classify 20 types of IOT devices. After creating a data set consisting of 1000 images of 20 categories, we trained our deep learning network using a transfer learning technology. As a result of the experiment, we achieve 94.5% top-1 accuracy and 98.1% top-2 accuracy.

  • This paper analyzed the modern trends and the present state of kitchen furniture and electric appliances depending on the advancement in IOT technology, in order to contribute to seeking a method of approaching consumers as an effective way for kitchen furniture and electric appliance companies to develop IOT products. Prior to analysis, the chronological transitions of Korean kitchen furniture and examined the effects of Korea's own emotions and characteristics on modern kitchen. For this study, the changes in Korean kitchen space were explored, based on previous studies, recent trend magazines, articles and professional books and the trends of modern kitchen furniture were observed. Also, the concept of IOT technology was considered and then the tendencies of modern IOT kitchen furniture and electric appliances were analyzed. The case study targeted the recent three-year trends of two types of domestic kitchen furniture and small-sized IOT kitchen electric appliances, which are sold, or have been introduced on foreign online stores and have been unveiled at CES Electric Appliances Exhibition. As a result of the study, it was found that many foreign countries, including the US have been developing various IOT kitchen electric appliances. The enterprise concept is to change kitchen with their IOT products, not changing future kitchen with IOT technology. This implies that approaches to product development may change. Moreover, it was recognized that for kitchen design, characteristics of product users need to be considered, according to Korean ideology.

  • The smart factory has developed with the help of several technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, big data, smart sensors and communication protocols. The Internet of things(IOT) among communication protocols has become the key factor for the seamless integration of various manufacturing equipment. Therefore, it is important that the IOT cooperate with the standards of communication protocols proposed by the SEMI in the semiconductor industry. In this paper, we suggest a novel reference model of the communication protocols for semiconductor equipment by introducing an IOT service layer. With the IOT service layer, we can use the functions and the additional services provided by the IOT standards that give the inter-operability between factory machines and host computers. We implement the standard of the communication protocols for semiconductor equipment with the IOT service layer by using ns3 simulator. It concludes that it is necessary to provide the platform for the IOT service layer to deploy efficiently the proposed reference model of the communication protocols.

  • As the existing face recognition CCTV and home IOT have each individual hardware component, they have a disadvantage that the measured results of their sensors and the CCTV can not be viewed on one screen at a time. In order to overcome the above disadvantages of existing CCTV and home IOT, this paper proposes an integrated platform which constitutes the CCTV and home IOT as one hardware component using Raspberry Pi and shows each result on one screen through Smartphone application. The proposed integrated platform CCTV and home IOT system is a system which can run the application as a Smartphone and check the sensor value measured by Raspberry Pi and the picture taken through the Pi camera. The implemented system measures temperature, humidity, gas, and dust, and implements face recognition technology on a screen shot through a Pi camera, allowing it to be seen at a glance with a Smartphone.

  • This study is to develop a standard model in order to establish IOT production information system and to analyze the effect. Professional IT industry and SMEs that want to build a production information system can be applied to standard models to build the system more effectively. It provides ease of construction and reliability for IOT production information system with removing irrational elements, product quality and reducing production cost. In addition, it can be applied to standardize management of raw materials supply and demand aggregation processes of production and constructed a system more effectively using standard module.
