  • Consider a job shop that is modelled as an open queueing network of the Jackson(l957) type. All work stations in the shop have the same number of parallel servers. Two problems are studied : the loading of stations and the assignment of servers, which are represented by loading and assingment vectors, respectively. Ma jorization and arrangement orderings are established to order, respectively, the loading and the assignment vectors. It is shown that reducing the loading vector under ma jorizat ion or increasing the assignment vector under arrangement ordering will reduce the congestion in the shop in terms of reducing the total number of jobs(in the sense of likelihood ratio ordering), the maximum queue length(in the sense of stochastic ordering), and the queue-length vector( in the sense of stochastic majorization). The results can be used to supprot production planning in certain job shops, and to aid the desing of storage capacity. • This study was conducted to develop pigment of flowers as a food material and the red rose(Rosa hybrida L.) was used for this study. To check the possibility of using the rose pigment as a food additive we have extracted the pigment from rose and examined all the factors (pH, temperature, free sugars, organic acids, metal ions) for stability. The results obtained are as follows: In examining the stability of the pigment, the residue of the pigment noticeably decreased with the increase of the pH and the temperature, and among free sugars (fructose, glucose, sucrose) the addition of fructose made the residue the lowest. With the addition of organic acids the samples exhibited the hyperchromic effect throughout the period of the storage. The pigment residue decreased when the amount of the metal ions increased and especially the Cu$^{2+}$ ion was most destructive.

  • The sequence of bond overlap population of metal hydrogen binding is in Al-H > Fe-H > Zr-H > V-H. This results shows the binding energy of Al-H is the biggest in this metals (Al, Fe, Zr, and V) and hydrogen interaction. The Vanadium-hydrogen binding shows the weakest binding energy compared to other metals and it causes easy hydrogen desorption from the corresponding metals. The net charge of Al-H show the biggest value of 0.2248 and the severe localizations of electrons around aluminum and imply strongest covalent binding nature in these metals. This study is applicable to the purification of hydrogen in other bulk gas.

  • Soybean protein consists of two major components $\beta$-conglycinin and glycinin which together consti-tute 70% of the total seed storage protein at maturity. $\beta$-Conglycinin is trimeric glycoprotein and for-med by the assembly of various combinations of three subunits $\alpha$,$\alpha$' and $\beta$ which have molecular weig-hts of 69,000, 72,000 and 42,000, respectively. Recently $\beta$-conglycinin was identified as powerful LDL lip-oprotein receptor activation hypercholesterolemia and major allergenic proteins. To investigate these reasons we constructed an expression system of cDNA encoding $\alpha$-subunit of $\beta$-conglycinin in Escherichia coli and purified the expressed protein. The pro-$\beta$-conglycinin synthesized in Escherichia coli BL 21 (DE3)comprised approximately 15% of the total bacterial proteins and the expressed protein are formed sol-uble and trimer such as native protein in Escherichia coli cells. The highly expressed protein was purified to homogeneity by salt precipitation with 20~40 % ammonium sulfate ion-exchange chromatography with Q-sepharose and hydrophobic column chromatography with Butyltoyopearl.

  • This paper describes some of the key issues associated with the patterning of metal electrodes of sub-micron (especially at the critical dimension (CD) of 0.15 $\mu\textrm{m}$) dynamic random access memory (DRAM) devices. Due to reactive ion etching (RIE) lag, the Pt etch rate decreased drastically below the CD of 0.20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and thus the storage node electrode with the CD of 0.15 $\mu\textrm{m}$ could not be fabricated using the Pt electrodes. Accordingly, we have proposed novel techniques to surmount the above difficulties. The Ru electrode for the stack-type structure is introduced and alternative schemes based on the introduction of the concave-type structure using Pt or Ru as an electrode material are outlined.

  • This paper investigates to identify an optimal for analysis of battery behavior in system-level applications such as Battery Energy Storage Systems in Smart Grid infrastructures and Electrical vehicles. At system level applications, it is mandatory to check model for meaningful equivalency and practical ability for extension from unit cell to Battery stack. The investigation of current battery models in relation to their suitability for study and analysis of system level applications of battery helpful for identification of optimal model and it also provides an intuition and direction to develop the most suitable model, if such models are not available already.

  • The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) developed a unique procedure for estimating direct runoff from storm rainfall. But, It is very difficult to estimate accurately flood hydrograph by SCS method, because the initial ion of Ia(0.2Sa) itself has lots of systematic errors and there is no investigation on Ia in the Korean watershed. The maximum storage capacity of Umax is calibrated in the DAWAST model and is related to the present ability of rainfall to be infiltrated into the unsaturated soil. Effective rainfall for design and real-time flood hydrograph can be estimate more reasonably by introducing new Ia relationship made from the rainfall-runoff data observed in the Korean watersheds.

  • This study was aimed at developing and evaluating a diffusive sampling method using a barium hydroxide solution as an absorbent for measuring carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) in ambient air. The collected $CO_2$ concentration was calculated by the change of conductivity resulted in the reaction of $CO_3{^{2-}}$ and $Ba^{2+}$ in aqueous solution. The sampling rate for the diffusive sampler was determined 0.218 mL/min, as obtained from the slope of the linear correlation between the $CO_2$ mass collected by the diffusive sampler and the time-weighted $CO_2$ concentration with the active sampling method. The unexposed blank sampler sealed in aluminium foil-polyethylene laminated packets has remained stable during at least one-month storage period. A good correlation was observed between the diffusive sampler and active sampler with a coefficient of determination of 0.956. This diffusive sampler would be suitable for the indoor $CO_2$ concentration monitoring.

  • Rectangular drawn case with extreme aspect ratio is widely used for electrical parts such as a lithium-ion battery container, semi-conductor case and so on. Additionally, from the recent trend towards miniaturization of the multi-functional mobile device, demands for rectangular case with the narrow width are increased. In this study, numerical and experimental approaches for the multi-stage deep drawing process have been carried out. Based on the research results of the width of 5.95mm model, finite element analysis for storage case of rectangular cup type was verified to the width of 4.95mm. Also, a series of manufacturing experiments for rectangular case is conducted and the deformed configuration of the rectangular drawn case are investigated by comparing with the results of the numerical analysis. And the modification of the initial blank is performed to minimize the trimmed material amount. By the application of the modified blank, the sound shape of the deformed parts is improved.

  • Functional ceramics are widely utilized in a variety of application fields such as structural materials, sensors, energy devices, purification filter and etc due to their high strength, stability and chemical activity. With the breakthrough development of nanotechnology, many researchers have studied new types of nanomaterials including nanoparticle, nanorod, nanowire and nanoplate to realize high-performance ceramics. Especially several groups have focused on the 3D nanostructured ceramics because of their large surface area, efficient load transfer, ultra-fast ion diffusion and superior electrical (or thermal) conductivity. In this review, we introduce the reported fabrication strategies of the 3D nanostructured and functional ceramics, also summarized the 3D nanostructured ceramic based high-performance applications containing photocatalysts, structural materials, energy harvesting and storage devices.
