IoT has been consistently used in various fields such as smart home, wearables, and healthcare. Since IoT devices are small terminals, relatively simple wireless communication protocols such as IEEE 802.15.4 and ISO 18000 series are used. In this paper, we designed the 802.15.4q 2.4 GHz TASK physical layer. Physical protocol data unit of TASK supports bit-level interleaving and shortened BCH encoding. It is spread by unique ternary sequences. There are four spreading factors to choose the data rate according to the communication channel environment. The TASK physical layer was designed using verilog-HDL and verified through the loop-back test of the transceiver. The designed TASK physical layer was implemented in a fpga and tested using MAXIM RFICs. The PER was about 0% at 10 dB SNR. It is expected to be used in small, low power IoT applications.

In the new era of IoT, a deeper and richer understanding of consumer characteristics is required to accelerate the acceptance and popularization of different types of smart home services (e.g., hedonic or utilitarian smart home services). In the current research, self-regulation systems are considered one of the consumer characteristics. Therefore, this research examines the role of consumers' regulatory focus (promotion focus vs. prevention focus) in their responses to smart home services, particularly when they are not familiar with the services. Specifically, this research examines whether consumers' attitudes toward utilitarian/hedonic smart home services differ according to their regulatory focus, particularly when they are not familiar with the services. The results indicate that consumers who are not familiar with smart home services have more favorable attitudes toward hedonic smart home services when they are promotion-focused (vs. prevention-focused). In contrast, there is no significant difference in their attitudes toward utilitarian smart home services between promotion- and prevention-focused consumers. Our findings imply that regulatory focus may be an effective marketing and segmentation tool in promoting new smart home services and facilitating low-familiarity consumers' receptiveness to the services.
Recent advances in medical science have made people live longer, which has affected many aspects of life, such as caregiver burden, increasing cost of healthcare, increasing number of disabled and depressive disorder persons, and so on. Researchers are now focused on elderly living assistance services in smart home environments. In recent years, assisted living technologies have rapidly grown due to a faster growing aging society. Many smart devices are now interconnected within the home network environment and such a home setup supports collaborations between those devices based on the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the major challenges in providing elderly living assistance services is to consider each individual's requirements of different needs. In order to solve this, the virtualization of physical things, as well as the collaboration and composition of services provided by these physical things should be considered. In order to meet these challenges, Web of Objects (WoO) focuses on the implementation aspects of IoT to bring the assorted real world objects with the web applications. We proposed a semantic modelling technique for manual and semi-automated service composition. The aim of this work is to propose a framework to enable RESTful web services composition using semantic ontology for elderly living assistance services creation in WoO based smart home environment.

Adopting Internet of Things (IoT)-based technologies in smart homes helps users analyze home appliances electricity consumption for better overall cost monitoring. The IoT application like smart home system (SHS) could suffer from large missing values gaps due to several factors such as security attacks, sensor faults, or connection errors. In this paper, a novel framework has been proposed to predict large gaps of missing values from the SHS home appliances electricity consumption time-series datasets. The framework follows a series of steps to detect, predict and reconstruct the input time-series datasets of missing values. A hybrid convolutional neural network-long short term memory (CNN-LSTM) neural network used to forecast large missing values gaps. A comparative experiment has been conducted to evaluate the performance of hybrid CNN-LSTM with its single variant CNN and LSTM in forecasting missing values. The experimental results indicate a performance superiority of the CNN-LSTM model over the single CNN and LSTM neural networks.

Thanks to internet, as one of indispensable parts of our lives, many devices that we use in our daily lives like TV, air conditioner, refrigerator, washing machine, can be monitored and controlled remotely by becoming more intelligent via Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Smart Home applications as one of the elements of smart cities, are individually the most demanded application without question. In this study, Smart Energy Management (SEM) system, based on NodeMCU and Android, has been designed for SEM, which is a part of the smart home application. With this system, household energy consumption can be monitored in real time, as well as having the ability to record the data comprising of operation times and energy consumption information for each device. Additionally, it is ensured to meet the energy needs on a maximized level possible, during the hours when the energy costs are lower owing to the SEM system. The Android interface provides the users with the opportunity to monitor and change their electricity consumption habits in order to optimize the energy efficiency, along with the opportunity to draw up of a daily and weekly schedule.

With the rapid development of IoT(Internet of Things) technology, various convenient services such as smart home and smart city have been realized. However, IoT devices in unmanned environments are exposed to various security threats including eavesdropping and data forgery, information leakage due to unauthorized access. To build a secure IoT environment, it is necessary to use proper cryptographic technologies to IoT devices. But, it is impossible to apply the technologies applied in the existing IT environment, due to the limited resources of the IoT devices. In this paper, we survey the classification of IoT devices according to the performance and analyze the security requirements for IoT devices. Also we survey and analyze the use of cryptographic technologies in the current status of IoT open standard platform such as AllJoyn, oneM2M, IoTivity. Based on the research of cryptographic usage, we examine whether each platform satisfies security requirements. Each IoT open platform provides cryptographic technology for supporting security services such as confidentiality, integrity, authentication an authorization. However, resource constrained IoT devices such as blood pressure monitoring sensors are difficult to apply existing cryptographic techniques. Thus, it is necessary to study cryptographic technologies for power-limited and resource constrained IoT devices in unattended environments.
42.5% of domestic gas accident due to human factors, and 38% occurred in residential area. Also gas accident caused by deterioration / malfunction increased more than 2 times for last 1 year. In this study we developed IoT based gas safety platform service for Home-gas safety, which secured 99.32% of data transmit accuracy, monitoring and remote control through LPWA bidirectional communication.

This work presents an Internet of Things (IoT) system for home energy management based on a custom-designed Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) transceiver that targets a generic and multi-standard control system. This control system enables the interoperability of heterogeneous devices: it integrates various sensor nodes based on ZigBee, EnOcean and UWB in the same middleware by utilizing an ad-hoc layer as an interface between the hardware and software. The paper presents as a first the design of the IR-UWB transceiver for a portable sensor node integrated with the middleware layer, and also describes the receiver connected to the control system. The custom-designed low-power transmitter on the sensor node is fabricated with 130 nm CMOS technology. It generates a signal with a 1.1 ns pulse width while consuming $39{\mu}W$ at 1 Mbps. The UWB sensor node with a temperature measurement capability consumes 5.31 mW, which is lower than the power level of state-of-the-art solutions for smart-home applications. The UWB hardware and software layers necessary to interface with the control system are verified in over-the-air measurements in an actual office environment. With the implementation of the presented sensor node and its integration in the energy management system, we demonstrate achievement of the broad flexibility demanded for IoT.
With the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the combination of ICT and medical services has been increasing to improve the quality of medical services. Using the IoTs, we can collect personal health information continuously in a patient's everyday life. We expect that this will improve the quality of medical service through analysis. However, the problem of ensuring the protection of personal information within the personal health information has been hampering the research, development, and application of such services. Other problems include lack of IoT devices and lack of user convenience for collecting health information about a patient's everyday life. Therefore, in this study, we construct a daily health information management service that can collect the health related information at any time and store this data in personal storage. This data is then only provided to the healthcare worker when necessary. We built a test bed for an IoT-based smart home platform and are currently conducting user experiments. Based on the results of this study, we are attempting to provide a high quality medical trial service based on daily health information through linkage with medical device manufacturers, medical clinics, insurance companies, etc. We expect the proposed health information management service will contribute to the revitalization of smart health care services via activating various health related IoT devices and analyzing daily health information.
