The common form of pre-emphasis filter is $H(z)\;=\;1\;- az^{-1}$, where a typically lies between 0.9 and 1.0 in voiced signal. Also, this value reflects the degree of filter and equals R(1)/R(0) in Auto-correlation method. This paper proposes a new flattening algorithm to compensate the weaked high frequency components that occur by vocal cord characteristic. We used interval information of LSP to estimate formant frequency. After obtaining the value of slope and inverse slope using linear interpolation among formant frequency, flattening process is followed. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm flattened the weaked high frequency components effectively. That is, we could improve the flattened characteristics by using interval information of LSP as flattening factor at the process that compensates weaked high frequency components.
A digital satellite communication channel has a nonlinearity with memory due to saturation characeristis of the high poer amplifier in the satellite and transmitter/receiver linear filter used in the overall system. In this paper, we propose a complex radial basis function network(CRBFN) based adaptive equalizer for compensation of nonlinearities in digital satellite communication channels. The proposed CRBFN untilizes a complex-valued hybrid learning algorithm of k-means clustering and LMS(least mean sequare) algorithm that is an extension of Moody Darken's algorithm for real-valued data. We evaluate performance of CRBFN in terms of symbol error rates and mean squared errors nder various noise conditions for 4-PSK(phase shift keying) digital modulation schemes and compare with those of comples pth order inverse adaptive Volterra filter. The computer simulation results show that the proposed CRBFN ehibits good equalization, low computational complexity and fast learning capabilities.
In this paper, we propose a new adaptive pre-processing technique for the linearization of a weakly nonlinear system which can be modeled by a Volterra series up to third order. To compensate the nonlinear effects of a given system, an update algorithm for the linear filter coefficients of the proposed adaptive pre-processor is introduced, and to compensate the linear distortion of the given system, the linear inverse filter is also utilized. For the performance test of the proposed adaptive pre-processor, computer simulation results obtained by analyzing an ANRSS loudspeaker model are provided.
In this paper, we proposed pre-filter algorithms which using frequency domain analysis method, for the detections of defects in large-sized Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display(TFT-LCD) panel surfaces. We performed frequency analysis with 1-D, 2-D FFT methods for extract periodic patterns of lattice structures in TFT-LCDs. To remove this patterns, band-stop filters were used for eliminating specific frequency components. In order to acquire only defected images, we used 2-D inverse FFT methods which can be reverts images that remains defects.

Impedance tomography (EIT) is a relatively new imaging modality in which the internal impedivity distribution is reconstructed based on the known sets of injected currents through the electrodes and induced voltages on the surface of the object. We describe a dynamic EIT imaging technique for the case where the resistivity distribution inside the object changes rapidly within the time taken to acquire a full set of independent measurement data, In doing so, the inverse problem is treated as the nonlinear state estimation problem and the unknown state (resistivity) is estimated with the aid of extended Kalman filter in a minimum mean square error sense. In particular, additional electrodes are attached to the known internal structure of the object ...
In this paper, a real-time pitch detector LPC vocoder as implemented on a high speed digital signal processor, NEC 7720, is described. The pitch detector was based mainly on the SIFT algorithm. The SIFT pitch detector consists primarily of a digital low pass filter, inverse filter, computation of autocorrelation, a peak picker, interpolation, V/UV defcision and a final pitch smoother. In our approach, modification, mainly on the V/UV decision and a final pitch smoother, was made to estimate more accurate pitches. An 16-bit fixed-point aithmatic was employed for all necessary computation and the simulated results were compared with the eye detected pitches obtained from real speech data. The pitch detector occupies 98.8% of the instruction ROM, 37% of the data ROM, and 94% of internal RAM and takes 15.2ms to estimate a pitch when an analysis frame is consisted of 128 sampled speech data. It is observed that the tested results were well agreed with the computer simulation results.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the hydraulic retention time (HRT) and organic loading rate (OLR) on microbial characteristics and treatment efficiency in sewage treatment using aerated submerged biological filter (ASBF) reactor. This reactor combines biodegradation of organic substrates by fixed biomass with a physical separation of biomass by filtration in a single reactor. Both simulated wastewater and domestic wastewater were used as feed solutions. The experimental conditions were a temperature of 17 to $27^{\circ}C$, a hydraulic retention time of 1 to 9hr, an organic loading rate of 0.47 to $3.84kg\;BOD/m^3{\cdot}day$ in ASBF reactor. This equipment could obtain a stable effluent quality in spite of high variation of influent loading rate. Total biomass concentration. biofilm thickness and biofilm mass increased an exponential function according to the increasing OLR. The relationships between water content and biofilm density were in inverse proportion. The percentage of backwash water to influent flow was almost 9%. The separation efficiency of biomass was the percentage of 91 to 92 in ASBF reactor. The sludge production rates in feed solutions of simulated wastewater and domestic wastewater were 0.14~0.26 kg VSS/kg BODrem, 0.43~0.48 kg VSS/kg BODrem, respectively.
Active control of acoustic noise is an application area of adaptive digital signal processing with increasingly interest along the last year. This work studies the implementation of the multichannel LMS filter and the application of this algorithm for the reduction of the noise inside a vechicle cabin using a number of 'secondary sources' drived by adaptive filtering of a reference noise source. Firstly, we propose the use of an adaptive method for the time-varient optimal convergence factor. Secondly, we propose the use of adaptive delayed inverse model to estimate the elastic-acoustic transfer function presented in vechicle cabin. The original, primary source is often periodic, with a known fundamental frequency. A suitably filtered reference signal can thus be used to drive the secondary sources. An algorithm is presented for adapting the coefficients of an FIR filter feeding such a secondary source in such a way as to minimize the output of a suitably placed microphone. In this algorithm, the coefficients of adaptive filter driving an array of secondary sources can be adapted to minimize the sum of the squares of the outputs of a number of error microphones. The multichannel LMS algorithm displays that such an algorithm is considered suitable to used for the global suppression of noise in vehicle cabin.
In the flat panel display and semiconductor industries, the visual alignment system is considered as a core technology which determines the productivity of a manufacturing line. It consists of the vision system to extract the centroids of alignment marks and the stage control system to compensate the alignment error. In this paper, we develop a Kalman filter algorithm to estimate the alignment mark postures and propose a coarse-fine alignment control method which utilizes both original fine images and reduced coarse ones in the visual feedback. The error compensation trajectory for the distributed joint servos of the alignment stage is generated in terms of the inverse kinematic solution for the misalignment in task space. In constructing the estimation algorithm, the equation of motion for the alignment marks is given by using the forward kinematics of alignment stage. Secondly, the measurements for the alignment mark centroids are obtained from the reduced images by applying the geometric template matching. As a result, the proposed Kalman filter based coarse-fine alignment control method enables a considerable reduction of alignment time.
The characteristics of soot near the soot inception point for an ethene-air flame was carried out in a WSR (well-stirred reactor). The new sampling tool like the temperature controlled filter system was introduced to minimize the condensation during sampling. The new analysis tools applied include the real time size distribution analysis with the Nano-DMA, particle size by transmission electron microscopy, C/H analysis, g filter analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis using both non-oxidative and oxidative pyrolysis. The WSR can generate young soot particles that can be collected and examined to gain insight into inception. For the current conditions, soot does not form for ${\Phi}$=1.9, inception occurs at or before ${\Phi}$=2.0, and inception combined with soot surface growth and/or coagulation occurs for ${\Phi}$=2.1. The filter samples for ${\Phi}$=1.9 are composed of volatile compounds that evolve at relatively low temperatures when heated in the presence or absence of O$_2$. The samples collected from the WSR at ${\Phi}$=2.0 and ${\Phi}$=2.1 are precursor-like in morphology and size. They have higher C/H ratios and lower organic percentages than precursor particles, but they are clearly not fully carbonized soot. The WSR PAH distribution is similar to that in young soot from inverse flames.
