  • Polyethylene(PE) films were photocrosslinked by continuous UV irradiation. Benzophenone addition as low as 1wt% into the PE film increased the gel fraction up to 96%. The photocrosslinking was attributed to the recombination of PE radicals generated upon UV irradiation, which was enhanced by the hydrogen abstraction of the added benzophenone. Also the crossliked PE showed higher thermal stability and decreased crystallinity with increasing UV energy as shown by TGA, XRD and DSC analysis. It was also possible to fix 5.4% octadecane into PE by the photocrosslinking. The crosslinked PE film containing octadecane showed lower tensile strength and modulus coupled with higher extension compared to that without octadecane, which can be used as a new plasticizing method for the crosslinked PE film.

  • We examined ammonia diffusion on the surface of amorphous ice film through the measurement of decreasing residual quantity of $NH_3$ molecules compared to $H_2O$. The populations of $NH_3$ molecules on the surface of amorphous ice were monitored by using the techniques of temperature programmed reactive ion scattering (TPRIS) method. The ratio of intensity between ammonia and water was examined as a function of time at controlled temperature. When ammonia molecules were externally added onto an ice film at a temperature of 80 K, ammonia coverage with regard to ice was 0.12-0.16 ML. The intensity of ammonia molecules on the surface of ice decreased as time increased and the extent of decreased intensity of ammonia increased as controlled temperature increased. Moreover, energy barrier was estimated to be $51kJmol^{-1}$ on amorphous ice film. The results of the experiment indicate that ammonia molecules have a property of vertical diffusion into amorphous ice and the energy barrier of ammonia diffusion into bulk of ice is higher than that of hydrogen bonding.

  • A protein based vision biomembrane was fabricated by adsorbing bacteriorhodopsin into electrochemically polymerized polypyrrole film substrate mainly through strong electrostatic interaction. The immobilized bacteriorhodopsin on the polypyrrole film was demonstrated by SEM and SRET. The light signal transducing function from the bacteriorhodopsin which was adsorbed into Polypyrrole film was evaluated by electroretinogram(ERG). A wave form analysis of the electroretinogram indicated that the adsorbed bacteriorhodopsin retained its activity and light signal was obtained from the protein for at least one month.

  • There are a number of practical uses for devices which are capable of piping large amounts of light: illumination of areas where there would be maintenance, safety, or security problems with electronic light sources; piping sunlight into indoor areas for illumination; and the conversion of high luminous efficacy, good color quality, high intensity discharge lamps into more acceptable linear of area sources of light. Prism light guides are hollow structures which pipe light by means of total internal reflectin(TIR). These devices are unique in their ability to combine the efficiency of TIR with the relatively low cost of hollow structure. An important application stems from their ability to transform a point source of light such as an incandescent or discharge lamp into a linear or area source of light or illumination. We report the development of an economical, flexible prismatic film for fabricating the light guide wall. This guide geometries and films are currently under development.

  • The effect of oil supply pressure on the performance of vapor cavitated short squeeze film dampers is examined. Vapor cavitation is characterized by film rupture occurring as a result of evaporating oils. The pressure of vapor cavity in the film is almost zero in absolute pressure and nearly constant. Pan's model about the shape of vapor cavity is utilized for studying the effect of vapor cavitation on the damping capability of a short squeeze film damper. As the level of oil supply pressure is increasing, vapor cavitation is suppressed so that the direct damping coefficient increases and the cross coupled damping coefficient decreases. Futhermore, the analysis of the unbalance responses of a rigid rotor supported on cavitated squeeze film dampers shows that a significant reduction in rotor amplitude and force transmissibility is possible by controlling the oil supply pressure into short squeeze film dampers.

  • The relationship between film and culture is established through a shared focus on people's lives. Culture changes at different times, which makes a dynamic and complex relationship between film and culture. Understanding this relationship helps to provide better support for current filmmaking. The purpose of this study is to provide insights into the macro issue of film and culture by exploring the relationship between film theme and culture concept. To this end, we used a case study to explore the connection between themes and culture concepts in Disney's Mulan (1998, 2020) through literature and analyses of culture concepts (Chinese "imagery" and Postmodernism). The study concludes that, "Culture assemblage" and "Vision is king" have become cultural trends that influence the creation of film theme and style to a certain extent; how to balance the relationship between the core idea of film theme and the external forms is an important issue in current filmmaking. The article contributes to promote thinking about culture in film creation, and its research perspective on different cultures and histories is innovative.

  • In the Korean film industry, 'diversity film' was used interchangeably with 'low-budget film' and 'independent/art film'. As the concept of film is transformed into a multi-platform era that expands online and offline, the discussion of media diversity has become important in the film industry as well. At the same time, the movement to expand the inclusion and diversity of minorities in the film industry is also evident. Recently, the global film industry is developing by accepting inclusive film policies based on research and policies from a gender-perspective on female narratives and creatives. This study suggests policy directions to redefine the concept of diversity in the Korean film industry and to expand inclusiveness and diversity for minorities based on previous studies and discussions on the diversity of various dimensions surrounding the film industry.

  • Quench and recovery process of high-temperature-superconductor(HTS) film deposited on the sapphire substrate is studied numerically. The quench is developed by fault current and the superconductivity is recovered by convection of heat into coolant. After the fault current, the HTS film experiences the quench state, current sharing state, and finally recovers the superconductivity. Numerical results of this study are compared to the previous experimental results, and shows that this numerical work can explain the mechanism of quench/recovery characteristics of HTS film.

  • As an important visual element, color in animated films can not only depicts the reality, but also conveys emotion and meanings, which play an important role in shaping the space of animated films. As one of the most outstanding animated films, Coco uses bold and unique color language to shape the film space. It uses the national color to blend the Mexican culture into the story space making it full of Mexican regional and cultural connotation, uses color contrast to shape the physical space, highlighting the three-dimensional and deep sense of the physical space. And also uses color association to create the psychological space, leading audience into the spiritual world of the film. Based on the analysis of the Coco, we an see that when shape the film space of animation, the film maker should give full play to the characteristics and function of color, and apply different color language to shape different space according to the role of the film space, so as to expand and deepen the connotation and expressiveness of film space.

  • The effects of deposition temperature of Pt top electrodes on the electrical properties of Pb(Zr,Ti))$O_3$, (PZT) thin film were investigated. When the Pt top electrodes were deposited at substrate temperatures of $200^{\circ}C$ or above, the ferroelectric properties of the PZT thin film under the Pt electrode were severely degraded. Whereas those of the PZT film where the Pt electrodes were not deposited were not degraded. Water vapors which remained in the vacuum chamber were dissociated into hydrogen atoms by the catalysis of Pt top electrode, and those hydrogen atoms diffused into the PZT film and produced oxygen vacancies at high substrate temperature, resulting in the degradation of the ferroelectric properties of the PZT film located under the Pt electrode. Since the water vapors could not be dissociated into hydrogen atoms without the catalysis of Pt. the degradation of the PZT film did not take place where the Pt electrode were not deposited. The degraded feroelectric properties could be recovered by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) treatment. On the other hand. leakage current characteristics were improved with increasing the deposition temperature of Pt top electrodes.
