Design and implementation of the interworking function for call processing control between B-ISDN and N-ISDN (B-ISDN과 N-ISDN간의 호처리 제어 연동기능부 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper focuses on the necessities of interworking and dervation of the requirements of interworking system for interworking between 64 Kbps based N-ISDN (narrowband ISDN) and B-ISDN(broadband ISDN). Furthermore, the design and the implementation of IWF (interworking function) are presentd. We analyze two ISDN signalling systems, and propose the architecture of interworking system. And then we make the baisc call procedure model between N-ISDN and B-ISDN, and verify the dynamic behaviors through the reachability tree of petri net. IWF is designed and implemented for transforming the differences between the two signalling systems. The operational confirmity of th eimplemented program was confirmed by the local test method. The performance of IWF was evaluated throguh the simulation language SLAM-II. As the result of evaluation shows, we confirm that the processing delay is maintained within 3 ms under the utilization 0.9.

  • This paper introduces oneM2M global IoT standard middleware platform based smart city service data model support and FIWARENGSI interworking for Orion Broker. Also, service data models implementation using flexContainer resource types and FIWARENGSI interworking using the Interworking Framework (TS-0033) from oneM2M Release 3 are also illustrated. In this system, data model element level access (e.g. for subscription/notification feature) is enabled, which is enhancement compared to contentInstance resource type before, and service agnostic FIWARE NGSI interworking is provided over the Interworking Framework for smart city platform data interworking.

  • Smart healthcare environments which merge medical and IT technology are getting ready for the third generation centering EHR from current second generation. As a basic technology for the introduction and activation of EHR systems it requires heterogeneous network interworking techniques between various wired and wireless medical devices. Interworking technology for heterogeneous network among various medical devices is needed to introduce EHR system. The heterogeneous network interworking technology is needed for construction of a reliable data system to convert each of unstructured data into structured data. Therefore, in this paper, we identify the domestic and international trends of smart medical field and analyze the characteristics of wired and wireless communication technology that is used in a heterogeneous network. and also suggest requirements needed for interworking technology and provide interworking technology based on them. we expect that proposed method which is designed for smart healthcare environments would provide a basic architecture needed for third smart medical technology generation.

  • This paper describes on the interworking services. interworking issues and the design concepts in the Interworking System (IWS) between Pubilc Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Packet Switched Data Network (PSDN), which has been developed at the Electronics and Tedecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). As a gateway between PSTN and PSDN, IWS provides the interconnection between PSTN and PSDN. In addition to the provision of basic interconnection services (i.e. dial-in/dial-out services), IWS provides the Maintenance and Administration (M&A) services for system itself and the supplementary services such as the call barring, direct call and closed user group. The architecture of IWS is based on the multiprocessor system with single system bus. And a multiprocessor real time kernel is used to support the inter-board communication as well as the inter-process commmunications. Especially, the operation and maintenance functions of IWS are treated in detail.

  • Ongoing standardization effort on 3G cellular system in 3GPP (UNTS) is based on GPRS core network and promises a global standard for systems capable of offering ubiquitous access to internet for mobile users. Considered radio access systems(FDD CDMA, TDD CDMA, and EDGE) are optimized for robust mobile use. However, there are alternative relatively high-rate radio interfaces being standardized for WLAN (IEEE802.11 and HIPER-LAN/2) which are capable of delivering significantly higher data rates to static or semi-static terminals with much less overhead. Also WPANs(BLUETOOTH, IEEE802.15), which will be present in virtually every mobile handset in the near future, are offering low cast and considerable access data rate and thus are very attractive for interworking scenarios. The prospect of using these interfaces as alternative RANs inthe modular UMTS architecture is very promising. Additionally, the recent inclusion of M-IP in the UMTS R99 standard opens the way for IP-level interfacing to the core network. This article offers an overview into WLAN-Cellular interworking. A brief overview of GPRS, UMTS cellular architectures and relevant WLAN standards is given. Possible interworking architectures are presented.

  • In this paper, the design and implementation of the long-distance wireless transmission technology of high-definition video using domestic wireless communication technology for the existing wired-based CCTV surveillance system and IP camera system was evaluated for performance. The interworking test between the wireless multi-IP camera transmission terminal device and the wireless communication RF module, and the wireless multi-IP camera-based video transmission system integration interworking test confirm the module interworking suitability during video transmission.

  • In this paper, we suggested new network architecture to provide seamless service between the cellular system and new wireless broadband network such as IEEE 802.16e, called WiBro. The interworking technologies are very important issue because mobile operator should provide service connectivity between various wireless networks based on different access technologies. Moreover a change and modification on legacy network should be minimized for providing interworking with new wireless broad-band network. We implemented proposed interworking architecture between 3G cellular network and 802.16e network to provide seamless service including interworking unit in real test environment. Also, we performed performance evaluation in hybrid network environments.

Immediate Multihoming Solution for UMTS and WLAN Interworking System

  • Multihoming is an attractive feature for mobile nodes (MN) equipped with multiple network interfaces in a converged networking environment. However, the current standard Mobile IP (MIP) lacks support for multihomed MNs. Accordingly, this paper presents an immediate solution to resolve the problems of multihomed MNs in a UMTS and WLAN interworking system. The interworking system is based on a hierarchical architecture according to the UMTS and WLAN coverage characteristics. The MIP is only operated in the WLANs, and not in the UMTS, allowing the MIP to be used for multihomed MNs with minimal modifications. In addition, MIP binding filters are used to realize the advantages of multihoming, enabling different traffic flows to be transmitted simultaneously through different interfaces. The overall design aims to minimize the modification to the MIP and impact on existing UMTS and WLAN systems. We evaluate the performance of proposed scheme using an OPNET simulator.

  • 3GPP(3rd Generation Project Partnership)-WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) interworking refers to the utilization of resources and access to services within the 3GPP system by the WLAN UE(User Equipment) and user respectively. The intent of 3GPP-WLAN Interworking is to extend 3GPP services and functionality to the WALN access environment. We propose an efficient mechanism for the setup of UE-initiated tunnels in 3GPP-WLAN interworking. The proposed mechanism is based on a secret key which is pre-distributed in the process of authentication and key agreement between UE and 3GPP AAA(Authentication, Authorization Accounting) server. Therefore it can avoid modular exponentiation and public key signature which need a large amount of computation in UE. Also the proposed scheme provides mutual authentication and session key establishment between UE and PDGW(Packet Data Gateway).

  • The schedule management in construction project have been performed independently by two method, WBS base management and CBS based management, However, the integrated management model is needed according to efficiency of construction project management and introduction of new EVMS system of KOREA government. For this purpose, interworking database system is designed through efficient modeling of WBS based management data and CBS based management data and relation establishment between entities in this paper. WBS based management DB consists of 4 entities and CBS based management DB consists of 3 entity and one of the 4 WBS DB entities is used to play interworking role between WBS and CBS, Also, attributes of all entities are well defined so that data consistency, integrity and newest are guaranteed. The designed interworking database model was realized using Nex-Pert Pro and the efficiency of data interworking was proved.
