말기 암환자의 체험에 관한 현상학적 연구 (Lived Experience of patients with Terminal Cancer : Parses Human Becoming Methodology)

  • Human health is an integral part of experience in the process of Human Becoming. Through continual interaction with the environment human beings freely choose experience and develop as responsible beings. The process of the health experience of patient with terminal cancer is a unique. he objective of this study is to understand the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer in order to provide basic information for nursing care in the clinical setting and to develop a theoretical background for clinical practice. This study is to de-scribe and define the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer in order to provide a foundation for nursing research and education. Data collection has been done between December 1993 and November 1994. The subjects included five persons -four females and one male : one who was in her sixties, one in his fifties, two in their forties, and one who was in her thirties. The researcher has met with these patients 35 times, but at eight times the patient was in a stuporous condition and not able to participate, so these were not included in the data analysis. Parse's "Human Becoming Methodology", an existential phenomenological research methodology is used for this study. Data has been collected using he dialogical engagement process of "I and You", the participant researcher and the participant subject. Dialogical engagement was discontinued when the data was theoretically saturated. Data was analyzed using the extraction - synthesis and heuristic interpretation. The criteria of Guba and Lincoln(1985). and Sandelo wski(1986) : credibility, auditability, fitness and objectivity were used to test the validity and reliability of the data. The following is a description of the structure of the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer as defined by this study : 1. Structure : 1) Suffering through the reminiscence of past experience 2) The appearance of complex emotions related to life and connectedness 3) The increasing importance of significant people and of the Absolute Being 4) The increasing realization of the importance of health and belief 5) Desire for a return to health and a peaceful life or for acceptance of dying and a comfortable death In summary the structure of the lived experience of these patients can be said to be : suffering comes through reminiscence of past experience, and there are complex emotions related to life and connectedness. Significant people and the Absolute Being become increasingly important along with a realization of the importance of health and faith. And finally there is a desire for either a return to health and a peaceful life or for the acceptance of dying and a comfortable death. 2. Heuristic Interpretation : Using Parse's Human Becoming Methodology, the structure of the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer identified in this research is interpreted as. The lived experience of patients with terminal cancer involves the solving of past conflicts, and the experience of the healing and valuing of sorrow and pain. Through the relation of life and health, and the complex emotions that arise, the lived experience of revealing - concealing is of paradoxical emotions. The increasing importance of significant others and of the Absolute Being shows Connecting and Separating an on- going process of nearness and farness. Revision of thoughts about health and faith is interpreted as transforming and desire for restoration to health and a peaceful life or acceptance of dying and a cowfortable death, as powering. In summary, it is possible to see, in the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer, the relationship of the five concepts of Parse's theory : valuing, revealing -concealing, connecting-separating, transforming, and powering. From Parse's theory, the results of this study show that meaning is related to valuing, rhythmicity to revealing-concealing and connect-ing-separating, and cotranscendence to transforming and powering.

전통주택과 조경공간의 생태학적 해석 - 동계(桐溪) 정온(鄭蘊) 가옥과 전주(全州) 최씨(崔氏) 종택을 중심으로 - (An Ecological Interpretation on Korean Traditional Dwelling Houses and Their Landscape Gardens)

  • 본 연구는 생태학에 견줄 수 있는 전통적 관념으로서 생명사상과 전통사상에 착안하여 마련된 '전통경관의 생태학적 해석' 방법론에 대한 사례연구이다. 연구를 통해서 당시의 관점에 근접함으로써 선조들의 생태학적 사고와 그를 기반으로 한 조영방식을 설명하기에 유용한 방법론이 될 수 있음을 규명하였다. 생태학적 해석 도구로써 추출한 '본성(本性; 자연의 정체성 고수)' '중절(中節; 절제)' '효율(效率; 경제적 효용)' '상생(相生; 관계 맺기)' '자생(自生; 자연의 원리 취득)' '중화(中和; 인공을 최소화하여 조화)' '방통(旁通; 소통과 순환)' '변통(變通; 가변성과 다양성)'이라는 전통사상의 개념어들은 우리 문화와 경관 속에 함유된 생태학적 개념을 대신한다. 사례연구를 위해서 서유구의 "임원경제지(林園經濟志)"(1827)에 서술된 항목들을 '공간구조' '조경요소' '건축 구조요소'로 구분하여 해석의 대상을 추출하였다. 정온 가옥과 최씨 종택을 구성하는 요소들을 해석한 결과로 생태학적 조영기법들을 제시하고, 전통주택과 조경공간에 대한 생태학적 특성을 다음과 같이 종합하였다. 자연조건과 세밀한 관계 설정 방식을 가지는 풍토건축으로서 첫째, 자연의 형상을 따르는 토지이용방식('본성' '상생' '중화'), 둘째, 자연과 일체감을 이루는 물리적 공간요소('중절' '상생' '중화'), 셋째, 한정된 자연에너지와 자원을 재활용하면서 지속적인 순환체계 유지('효율' '자생' '방통'), 넷째, 지역에서 얻을 수 있는 자연재료 이용('중절' '효율' '자생'), 다섯째, 미기후를 고려한 평면과 구조 결정('효율' '자생' '변통')으로 정리된다. 이에 전통주택과 조경공간은 다른 유형의 전통공간보다 자연 안에서 효율적인 자원 소비 공간을 목표하였다는 점에서 생태학적 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

상황 정보를 이용한 개인화 추천 방법 개발 (A personalized recommendation procedure with contextual information)

  • 최근 개인 단말기의 보급과 객체간의 네트워크 연결이 확산됨에 따라 방대한 양의 상황 정보들이 수집되고 있지만 역설적으로 사용자들과 서비스 제공자들은 정보의 홍수 속에서 종종 잘못된 의사결정을 내리고 있다. 이러한 정보 과부하 문제를 해결하기 위해 추천 시스템은 좋은 대안이 될 수 있지만 전통적인 추천 시스템은 다양한 형태의 상황 정보 사용에 한계를 보이고 있다. 또한 획득 가능한 상황 정보가 다양해지고 방대해짐에 따라 이를 활용한 추천 시스템은 복잡성의 문제를 해결해야 하며 지속적으로 변화되는 사용자 선호 및 상황에 부합할 수 있도록 실시간 서비스가 가능하도록 설계되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 상황 영역의 개념을 기반으로 한 상황 인식 추천 서비스 방법론을 제안하여 추천 시스템에서 상황정보를 활용하는 한편 복잡성 및 실시간 서비스 제공의 문제를 해결하려 한다. 먼저 적절한 해석과 구조로 상황 데이터를 사용자 프로필에 반영할 수 있도록 상황 영역 개념에 기반한 프로파일링을 제안함에 따라 기존의 상황 인식 추천 시스템이 가지고 있던 복잡성의 한계를 해결하고자 한다. 다음으로 목표 사용자의 상황 영역에 기반한 이웃 집단 탐색으로 추천 시스템의 희박성과 신규 사용자 문제를 해결하는 한편 현재의 상황 정보에 대한 해석으로 도출되는 상황 지지 점수를 기반으로 한 추천 목록을 생성하여 실시간 서비스가 가능한 방법론을 제안한다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법론은 추천 시스템의 적용 영역을 확장하는 연구가 될 것으로 기대되며 새로운 기술 출현을 고려한 유연한 모델을 제안함에 따라 마케팅 담당자나 서비스 제공자들이 쉽게 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법론을 적용할 수 있으리라 판단된다.

뇌파의 한의학적 진단 지표로의 활용 방안에 대한 연구초안 (The methodology on the application of EEG as a diagonostic measures in Korean Traditional Medicine)

  • Objective : By examining EEG status in Korean Traditional Medicine (KTM) from the viewpoint of 'form-qi theory(形氣論)', We wish to prepare for the fundamentals of applicability of KTM diagnoses to EEG. In addition, through reinterpretation of existing Western Medicine reports from the viewpoint of KTM, We tried to find out interrelationship between them. Method : In this paper, a methodology applicable to KTM diagnoses of EEG is presented from the EEG features in waveform characteristics, personalized diversity, and cognitive activity reflection. Results : Frequency bands are assigned to corresponding one of the eight trigrams in terms of yin/yang balance, which is analogous with EEG spectrum analysis mostly used in EEG quantification. The amplitude ratio of each EEG for each frequency band gives meaningful index numbers which can be used in EEG data interpretation, and every index number is named after the sixty four hexagrams. These approaches are adopted through both '4-band classification system and '6-band classification system', and applied to pre-existing reported EEG data obtained from normal adults. These analyses show that changes and distribution pattern in the index numbers are observed as a whole on both left-right line and front-back line connecting EEG measurement cephalic electrodes. And differences in distribution pattern of three index numbers deduced from '6-band classification system' are discussed according to constitution. Conclusion : The index numbers introduced here, which are the spectral power ratio for each EEG, are based on KTM yin/yang balance. These index numbers vary according to cephalic location, so its application in terms of traditional meridian theory is strongly expected. The index number distribution also shows different patterns according to constitution.

Statistical methods used in articles published by the Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to assess the trend of use of statistical methods including parametric and nonparametric methods and to evaluate the use of complex statistical methodology in recent periodontal studies. Methods: This study analyzed 123 articles published in the Journal of Periodontal & Implant Science (JPIS) between 2010 and 2014. Frequencies and percentages were calculated according to the number of statistical methods used, the type of statistical method applied, and the type of statistical software used. Results: Most of the published articles considered (64.4%) used statistical methods. Since 2011, the percentage of JPIS articles using statistics has increased. On the basis of multiple counting, we found that the percentage of studies in JPIS using parametric methods was 61.1%. Further, complex statistical methods were applied in only 6 of the published studies (5.0%), and nonparametric statistical methods were applied in 77 of the published studies (38.9% of a total of 198 studies considered). Conclusions: We found an increasing trend towards the application of statistical methods and nonparametric methods in recent periodontal studies and thus, concluded that increased use of complex statistical methodology might be preferred by the researchers in the fields of study covered by JPIS.

Archaeological geophysics: 3D imaging of the Muweilah archaeological site, United Arab Emirates

  • The sand-covered Muweilah archaeological site in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a unique Iron Age site, and has been subject to intensive investigations. However, excavations are time consuming and may require twenty years to complete. Thus geophysical surveys were undertaken with the objective of characterising the site more expeditiously. This paper presents preliminary results of these surveys. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) was tested as a primary imaging tool, with an ancillary shallow time domain EM (MetalMapper) system. Dense 3D GPR datasets were migrated to produce horizontal (plan view) depth slices at 10 cm intervals, which is conceptually similar to the archaeologists' excavation methodology. The objective was to map all features associated with anthropogenic activity. This required delineating extensive linear and planar features, which could represent infrastructure. The correlation between these and isolated point reflectors, which could indicate anthropogenic activity, was then assessed. Finally, MetalMapper images were used to discriminate between metallic and non-metallic scatterers. The moderately resistive sand cover allowed GPR depth penetration of up to 5 m with a 500 MHz system. GPR successfully mapped floor levels, walls, and isolated anthropogenic activity, but crumbling walls were difficult to track in some cases. From this study, two possible courtyard areas were recognised. The MetalMapper was less successful because of its limited depth penetration of 50 cm. Despite this, the system was still useful in detecting modem-day ferruginous waste and bronze artefacts. The results (subject to ongoing ground-truthing) indicated that GPR was optimal for sites like Muweilah, which are buried under a few metres of sand. The 3D survey methodology proved essential to achieve line-to-line correlation for tracking walls. In performing the surveys, a significant improvement in data quality ensued when survey areas were flattened and de-vegetated. Although MetalMapper surveys were not as useful, they certainly indicated the value of including other geophysical data to constrain interpretation of complex GPR features.

인삼정보시스템 구축 및 이를 활용한 재배적지 분석(금산지역) (Selection to be Compatible Site for Ginseng Information System in Kumsan Area)

  • 인삼 재배적지 선정은 방대한 양의 공간정보는 인삼정보시스템을 통하여 경제적으로 분석되었으며 효과적으로 지형모형을 탐구할 수 있다. 다양한 자연 현상들과 재배기술에 의해 인삼 생산이 복합적으로 작용하여 이루어지기 때문에 정보를 수집, 입력, 분석하는데 많은 어려움이 있으므로 하나의 지리 정보시스템에서 자료를 관리, 분석하면 많은 장점이 있다. 각종 인삼 정보들을 하나의 시스템에 입력하고 이를 토대로 금산지역 인삼의 생육조건을 고려한 지형, 토양 및 지질의 특성만을 고려하여 재배적지로 선정하였다. 이번 연구에서 구축된 시스템에서 생산된 고품질 삼을 생산하기 위해 기초적인 인삼정보시스템을 활용할 수 있다. 구축된 인삼정보시스템은 인삼재배와 관련된 지질분포, 토양의 성질, 기후 변화의 특성, 사면의 경사 및 향분석 등의 현황조사를 근거로 금산군 지역의 다양한 재배 특성을 고려하여 우량삼을 생산할 수 있는 재배적지를 선정하였다.

An Interpretation of Archetypal Form of Byungyoung Castle in Ulsan City

  • The purpose of this study ins to verify the characteristic location of Byungyoung Castle, physical type, inside spatial organization, and the scheme of Byungyoung Castle. The study utilizes historic literature, ancient maps related to Byungyoung Castle, topographical and cadastral maps which were published under the rule of Japanese Imperialism Castle, topographical and cadastral maps which were published under the rule of Japanese Imperialism and the topographical maps which were made recently by National Geographic Institute with various scales. The methodology of the study is to interpret the contents from the historic literature on the site map. The result of the study is as follows; Byungyoung Castle does duty as a defensive base for the entire country and has a specific character of location that has the dual function of a mountain fortress for national defense and of a village fortress for the town. Byungyoung Castle has four gates on four sides and has a oval shape very close to a circular form. The road construction inside the castle is composed basically of a cross shape. Byungyoung is located in the northwest area of this major road system. The private houses that lie along the north-south road are build up at the core area of the lower level and the town market built up around the south gate becomes the heart of life for the people. Schematically, it has the same pattern as regular village fortress, in that the houses for the guests and the houses for the public office are arranged to the east and the west. It is considered that there is certain functional parallel between Byungyoug Castle and Ulsan castle because there are no facilities for sacrificial rites no institutional budding.

해석수준과 메시지 프레이밍에 따른 자율주행택시의 사용의도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Construal Level and Intention of Autonomous Driving Taxi According to Message Framing)

  • 본 연구는 최근 4차산업 혁명의 산물로 대두되고 있는 자율주행차가 대중교통 수단인 택시로 이용될 때 해석수준과 메시지 프레이밍에 따른 사용 의도의 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 해석수준이란 가까운 미래에 발생한 일과 먼 미래에 발생할 일을 가정하여 어떤 제품이나 서비스를 해석하는 것이 다르다는 것을 말한다. 메시지 프레이밍이란 긍정 혹은 부정의 표현 또는 혜택, 손실의 양극단의 메시지를 구성한 것을 말한다. 즉, 기존연구에서는 이 두 개념에 따라 제품이나 서비스의 가치를 다르게 해석한다고 한다. 본 연구는 자율주행차가 택시로 출시될 때 두 개념을 적용할 경우 사용 의도의 차이를 보이는지 살펴보고자 한다. 결과를 요약하면 우선, 메시지 프레이밍 구성에서 자율주행 택시를 이용할 경우 혜택(Gain)과 왜(Why) 사용해야 하는지를 설명한 메시지 형식과 자율주행 택시를 이용하지 않았을 경우 손실(Loss)와 어떻게(How)를 강조한 메시지를 구성하여 비교해 보았다. 두 메시지 프레이밍은 차이를 보였으며(t= 3.063) 혜택(Gain)과 왜(Why)를 설명한 메시지 형태가 더 높은 사용 의도를 보였다. 또한, 해석수준에 따른 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 혜택(Gain) 및 손실(Loss)에 대한 먼 미래와 가까운 미래에 발생할 것을 가정한 경우 사용 의도에 차이가 있었으며, 구체적으로 혜택(Gain)을 설명한 메시지와 먼 미래에 발생할 것을 가정한 경우가 사용 의도가 높았다. 요약하면 자율주행 택시의 사용 의도를 높이기 위해서는 긍정의 메시지(Gain)와 먼 미래에 일어날 수 있는 것을 가정하여 사람들에게 메시지를 전달해야 한다는 결론이다. 또한, 본 연구를 통하여 향후 신기술의 출현에 대한 사용 의도 연구 시 연구방법을 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

시각 장애인을 위한 정원-투시, 위요, 음양, 형태 및 환경 (The garden for the blind-perspective, enclosure, light/shade, form and environment)

  • The idea I set my thesis upon was to develop a methodology for the visually impaired to perceive an environment through their other senses. Since the Blind perceive spatial relationships by combined association of their other senses, it was essential to create a setting where their senses can be amplified. Thus this garden was designed to accommodate two or more of blind person's senses at once to provide more of '3-D' spatial relationship. The main goals of this thesis are, first, to create a place where the Blind can enjoy and nurture their own specific interests. Second, to reveal the nature in its allowing individual analysis and interpretation of a garden. Third, to move away from the prejudice of gardens for the Blind being made of only touching and smelling. To achieve these goals, the most important task was to establish a sense of space. In order to do so, five principles were used; Perspective, Enclosure, Light/Shade, Form, and Environment. After all, the garden for the Blind does not proclaim its purpose in loud terms nor in obvious manner. It should attempt to provide joy, serenity, and activity; a freedom to choose, recognize and analyze nuances of garden, the rhythm of enclosure and openness to experience variety, also to delight in subtle changes and to just imagine.
