The Effects of Emotional Intelligence on the Customer Orientation and Customer Relationship Management Performance of Hotel Employees (호텔기업 종업원의 감성지능이 고객지향성과 CRM성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear.   • This study is a study that collects and analyzes data through An autoethnographyon as one of method of qualitative research, through which researcher have experienced firsthand in the process of developmenting and counseling there a new concept professional mental health mobile service platform as a mental health social welfare expert. The results of this study are as follows.First, there are people in Korea who are directly exposed to mental health issues and need to receive professional medical services, but there are also quite a few members of the public who have a desire for general mental health services, although the level of therapeutic intervention is not required. Second, considering the characteristics of modern society and especially in the pandemic situation of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, more and more people are preferring various mental health service platforms using mobile devices. Third, all generations complain of mental health issues such as family problems, stress, interpersonal relationships, and occupations, and other mental health problems such as self-harm and suicide accidents are frequently mentioned in connection with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorder, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Fourth, youngth s were exposed to various mental health-related issues, and above all, they were complaining of serious mental health problems such as self-harm and suicide accidents. Fifth, in delivering professional mental health services, mental health experts with the ability also to provide professional services online through mobile devices are needed as well offline. Finally, based on the results of this study, policy and practical suggestions related to the provision of mental health services in the future, and directions for follow-up studies were suggested.

Development of Scale for College Students' Social Network (대학생 연줄망 측정을 위한 척도 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a scale for the social network of college students in Korea. The social network scale for college students in this paper was developed through 1) literature review and item development 2) focus-group meeting 3) depth-interview with college students 4) pilot-studies and 5) study. The scale of 23 items has been constructed with three features : The first is 'relational feature' with 2 items; the second 'structural feature' with 7 items; and the third 'functional feature' with 14 items. The functional feature in this social network scale has consisted of emotional, economic, spiritual, and socio-relational aspects and has been revealed to the validity and the reliability of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ 0.716. This study would contribute for college students to solve the many problems in their own lives through the social networks.

Learning Needs of Registered Nurse for Insertive Education (실무교육에 대한 간호원의 학습요구)

  • The advanced knowledge is increasing day by day due to the progress of medicine and tectonics, the increase of nursing research nowadays. In parallel with these, nursing profession has a need of the nursing care with improvement of new Knowledge, tectonics and nursing procedure through the insertive education. Therefore, this study was attempted to investigate that to grasp learning need of nurses about inservice educational play a pivotal role in the progress of inservice education. This study was made from 242 clinical nurse at 4 hospitals in Seoul and through question- are consisting of 1) ideological part 2) basic sciences 3) nursing part 4) administrative part 5) the others from 10 July '75 to 7 Oct. '75. The data were treated by percentage, Licker method, arid chi- square examination. Significant difference p is 0.05. The results of this studies are as follows : A. learning needs of nurses 1) Generally the learning needs of nurses is very high. 2) Of the learning need of inservice education for nurses, the highest learning need is as follow (Table 2 ) 1 st : Charting 2 nd : The ability of grasping patient's needs and problems. 3 rd ; The contents and the methods of the advanced nursing skill. 4 th ; The importance of team work 5 th ; The general knowledge of the various disease 6 th : The decision of a propriety nursing diagnosis under the general condition. 7 th ; The introduction of the new nursing theory. 8 th : The Nurses role and the responsibility in emergency and disaster. 9 th : The improvement of nursing skill for the perfect interpersonal relationship. l0th ; Cultural education: B . Verification of hypothesis 1. Hypothesis I , learning needs of nurses and educational level of nurse will be correlated, is rejected (Table 3 ) 2. Hypothesis II, learning need of nurses and duties of post will be correlated, is rejected (Table 4) 3. Representation of Drinking in Cultural Contents: Analysis of Television Drama Texts (지상파 TV 콘텐츠에 나타난 음주 : 황금시간대 고시청률 드라마 분석과 수용자 인식조사)

  • This study aimed to 1) analyze television drama text to examines how Korean television dramas represent alcohol drinking; 2) interview the actual drama audience to examine how they perceive drinking and whether or not their perception is influenced by the drama text. The author analyzed 60 drama episodes from 12 prime time shows that reached over 20% rating from 2008 to 2010. The result shows that drinking in dramas are portrayed as a solution to various kinds of personal and business problems, medium of romance, a tool for interpersonal communication that facilitates understanding and positive relationship. Female drinkers are prominent but their drinking is taking place under the patronage of male characters, which lead to the maintenance of patriarchal social relations. Interview findings show that the audience have strong motivation to imitate the glamourous lifestyles of leading characters in dramas. The findings strongly suggest observational learning was taking place, especially in the area where the viewers have no direct experience.

  • Maker education rooted on Maker Movement refers to constructivist learning approach in which students as makers participate in producing visible outcomes through self-directed inquiry and creative hands-on activities in a real life context to solve their personal or social problems. The Maker education, therefore, stresses cultivation of 'maker mindset' in the process-oriented learning environments, pursuing evaluation aspects different from those in the existing educational system. In this context, this study aimed to explore an evaluation framework for the Maker education which reflects the Maker mindset: First, a literature review was conducted to search for the evaluation framework of the maker education which consists of the category of 5 ONs (Minds-on, Hands-on, Hearts-on, Social-on, Acts-on) representing intellectual, physical, emotional, interpersonal and practical aspects, respectively; Second, a Delphi survey for content validity was carried out to confirm the adequacy of the 5 ONs category along with sub-elements for each category. Finally, this study presented the evaluation framework for the Maker education, which is expected to be used as feedback rather than a measuring tool for the process and environments of the Maker education.

An Analysis Study on Family and Socio-environmental Factors of Adolescents' School Dropout (청소년 학업중단의 가족 및 사회환경적 요인 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine what is the path that family and socio-environmental factors of adolescents lead to school dropout called educational crisis behavior. To investigate these research problems, the path was analyzed on the basis of the related data and variations after interview with 120 crisis adolescents in 'J Youth Counseling Center' in Jeon-ju City. By the results of this analysis, the family ties as a familial factor and the deviation friends as a socio-environmental factor had an effect on adolescents' school dropout behavior. These results indicate the need to reform the interpersonal relationship in family and school friends for preventing and solving the adolescents' crisis behavior such as school dropout behavior.

Everyday Information Practices of 'Isolated' Adolescents: A Case Study of New Korean Immigrant Adolescents in the U.S. (소외 청소년의 일상적 정보행태: 재미 한인 청소년을 사례로 하여)

  • The purpose of the study is to explore how isolated immigrant adolescents seek and use necessary information when they are unable to use significant information sources-their peer groups-in the period of transition before new peer groups are established. Sixteen recently arrived Korean immigrant adolescents were recruited and a mixed method including surveys and in-depth interviews was used through three research phases. This study gained a preliminary understanding of isolated immigrant adolescents' information world: how they interpret their current situations and daily hassles, seek (or do not seek), and utilize information to cope with their daily life problems, and evaluate their use of information, including library systems and interpersonal sources. Five main emergent themes were analyzed from the findings and pertinent theories/models to interpret these unique features were suggested and discussed. The contribution and limitation of the study and future study are suggested and discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop specialized mentor program to improve adaptation for new nurses of intensive care unit and to identify the effect of the program on early resignation rate. Methods: The study adopted nonequivalent control group, non synchronized design. Based on the identification of problems and the needs of new nurses, a 6 month specialized mentor program was developed. The program was consisted of three parts; developing knowledge, improving interpersonal relationship and increasing coping competency for emergency situation. Data were collected between July 2006 and 2008 from 37 nurses and the early resignation rate was compared before and after the implementation of the mentoring program. Results: Early resignation rate of the nurses who received the mentor program was significantly lower than that of the nurses who didn't. The resignation rate within 1 year dropped from 44.5% to 8.3%(p=.034). Conclusions: The specialized six month mentoring program was effective in reducing early resignation rate.

A Study on Content Organization and Assigning Score of Evaluation Elements of Clinical Practice of Dept. of Dental Technology - Centering on the undergraduates - (치기공과 임상실습 평가항목의 내용구성과 배점에 관한 연구 - 재학생 중심으로 -)

  • This study has been analyzed to write an ideal training evaluation table after analyzing validity of content organization and assigning score of evaluating elements of clinical practice of Dept. of dental technology. 220 junior students who are studying dental technology in D university in Daegu were questioned to analyze the relationship of content organization and score of clinical practice evaluation table. The corrected material has been inspected by SAS V8 for Windows. The results are as following. 1. The validity of content organization of clinical practice evaluation table has a result which can be reliable over than 70% but the validity of score shows low reliance. c 2. The validity of content organization of detail elements of clinical practice evaluation shows that overuse of material and attentiveness(3.78) and responsibility (3.60) are high response but in score organization, the validity shows that safety measure(2.36) when controling machines, arrangement(2.98) after use and ability (2.98) of solving problems are very low. 3. In the elements without interpersonal relation, it shows that those are related to each other. its grading is p < 0.01 so it appears to be meaningful. 4. In result of analyzing the effect to 'studying amount' mark in clinical practice evaluation mark, it appears the element of attitude for job to affect it. And in result of analyzing the effect to 'training attitude' mark, it appears the element of 'controling machines' to affect it. For these results, to be a better evaluation tool, it should be modified by continuous research with arranging evaluation elements to be marked differently in between elements.
