Performance Analysis of MBMS and Wi-Fi Priority Policy in Heterogeneous Networks having a dispersed Single-cell MBMS (분산된 단일 셀 MBMS을 지원하는 이종 네트워크 환경에서 MBMS와 와이파이 사용자 우선 정책에 대한 성능 분석)

  • With the rising popularity of smart-phones, the supply of Internet protocol television is largely increased and it causes the wireless communication network load to be increased. To overcome such an overloading problem, 3GPP is now working on the standardization of MBMS since LTE Release 6 specification. MBMS has good performance in bandwidth efficiency by sharing the same bandwidth with the mulitple MBMS users having the same content. According to the proposed algorithm, in heterogeneous networks having a dispersed Single-cell MBMS where 3GPP network and Wi-Fi network are mixed, if the number of MBMS users, who are belonging to cells supporting a dispersed Single-cell MBMS, is more than a specified threshold, the MBMS priority policy is operated. Otherwise, the Wi-Fi priority policy is executed. As the simulation results show both the increase of total available bandwidth ratio and the decrease of network usage cost, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme allows the network efficiency to be maximized.

  • Digital Broadcast Service is being very popular and the delivery mechanism for digital broadcast content through IP network has progressed constantly, due to the advance of video and audio compression and network technologies. From these trends, in Korea, the commercial IPTV service starts in this year after the law related to IPTV is enacted last year. Since IPTV service, which integrates broadcast and communication services, can give an infrastructure for fusion of communication and interactive multimedia data service, IPTV service is attractive. Recently, by the advent of various wireless connection technologies and the mobile devices of high capability, Mobile IPTV, which has an advantage of not only IPTV but also mobile TV, has gained much interest. In this paper, we review a necessary ingredient for Mobile IPTV in the next generation wired/wireless convergence network environment which consists of heterogeneous wireless access networks. In addition, we propose the scheme for user mobility and service session mobility management using RTSP protocol and introduce the service gateway concept to guarantee the extension of IPTV service platform.

  • 21세기를 맞이하여 서비스, 단말 및 매체의 "개인화," "이동화" 및 "융합화"의 경향이 급속도로 확산되고 있으며, 이러한 조류의 최전선에 통방융합이 자리하고 있다. 기술의 발전에 따라 사용자의 요구가 변화되고, 이러한 변화는 이종 기술 및 서비스의 융합을 시도하게 만들었다. 지금까지 수년에 걸쳐 통신과 방송분야에서 기술 및 서비스의 융합이 시도되어 왔으나 실제 사용자 측면에서의 가시적인 결실은 미미하였던 것이 사실이다. 이러한 현실은 IPTV(Internet Protocol TV)나 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)가 등장함에 따라 생활에 바로 적용이 가능한 현실적인 서비스가 되었다. 이와 같은 현실을 바탕으로 BcN(Broadband Convergence Network)에서의 IPTV 및 DMB 서비스에 대한 기술과 현황 및 전망을 살펴본다.

  • 최근에 PDA 나 디지털 TV 셋탑박스, 디지털 카메라, DVD 플레이어, IA(Internet Appliance)제품 등 일반 소비자 제품에도 임베디드 시스템이 탑재되면서 임베디드 시스템 시장이 급속도로 발전하고 있다. 이런 임베디드 시스템의 핵심은 실시간 운영체제(RTOS)와 시스템의 특성에 맞는 파일시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 임베디스 시스템에 탑재된 실시간 운영체제에서 동작할 수 있는 파일시스템 중에서 가상 파일 시스템과 통합하여 동작하는 ISO-9660 파일 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 구현한ISO-9660 파일 시스템은 ISO-9660과 RRIP(Rock Ridge Interchange Protocol), Joliet 표준을 지원한다.

  • It's been several years since IPTV(Internet Protocol Television), which is typical conversed broadcasting communication service come up to a new growth power. Although our broadcasting communication infrastructure has global competitiveness, it's been late to be commercialized rather than other countries due to lack of timely supporting policies. Also rising of smart circumstances beginning with smart phone makes smart TV grow faster, so expansibility of IPTV become shrink. This study suggests IPTV the way to get over this circumstances and the effort of government or industries.

  • In order to go digital broadcasting in Korea, it is conducted various policies in the country which be expanded network, be increased digital broadcasting hours. And broadcasting stations in the country close down analog broadcasting until 2012. Moreover IPTV is a method of delivering broadcast television and on-demand, rich media content that uses an IP(Internet protocol network) as the medium. And an IP is regarded as a very favorable approach for the future "Medium for Digital TV". However It is not easy to replace the entire digital infrastructure. And there are some problems in the digital infrastructure for Digital TV(i.e. channel zapping delay). Moreover user require service. IPMG is to solve these problems. IPMG is digital converter that allows receive and transmit signal by using many kinds of medium for Digital TV. Moreover IPMG provides users a Network PVR service. In this paper we developing, manufacturing IPMG and analyze its performance.

  • MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream)는 DTV(Digital Television), IPTV(Internet Protocol Television), DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 등 디지털 방송 분야에서 압축된 오디오 및 비디오 데이터를 다중화하는 데에 전 세계적으로 널리 사용되고 있다. MPEG-2 TS 표준이 제정된 것은 1990년대 초반으로서 20여 년이 지난 오늘날의 방송과 통신 환경에 적합하지 않은 부분이 많이 포함되어 있다. 이러한 상황을 고려하여, MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)에서는 2014년에 MPEG-2 TS를 대체하고자 차세대 멀티미디어 전송 표준으로서 MMT(MPEG Media Transport)를 표준화하였다. 특히 네트워크 환경의 발전에 따라, MMT 표준은 IP 친화적이고 여러 가지 다른 종류의 네트워크를 병용한 멀티미디어 전달이 쉽도록 설계되었다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 방송에 의해 수신되는 MPEG-2 TS로부터 실시간으로 MMTP(MMT Protocol) 스트림을 생성하여 UDP/IP로 유무선 인터넷을 통해 멀티미디어 스트리밍 서비스를 제공하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 이를 위해 MPEG-2 TS 실시간 변환 기능을 갖춘 MMT 스트리밍 서버와 이로부터 서비스를 받을 수 있는 MMT 클라이언트를 구현하고 그 동작을 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

  • Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) through broadband cable network is a subscriber-based system which consists of software and set-top box. However, a weakness for the current IPTV system is the lack of security between users and CAS. This paper proposes a user authentication protocol at STB, which limits the service by the user-valued attribute to prevent illegal IPTV users. User attribute values change the order with bit form according to the certain rule, and apply to one-way hash function and Diffie-Hellman's elliptic curve key-exchange algorithm. The proposed protocol is able to improve on user authentication and computation. Also, each user generates an authentication message by smart card and receives various services based on the user-valued attribute.

  • IPTV is referred to the service which provide integrated IPTV services for providing video, 10/100-Mbit/sec Internet, voice, video-on-demand (VOD), and other broadband applications including home security, video conferencing, and telemedicine. All services are integrated into an IP (Internet Protocol) architecture designed specifically for Gigabit Ethernet FTTH systems, HFC or xDLC. It is absolutely necessary that telecon operators provide IP video delivery platforms that enable service providers to transform their business. With their own products, they can better manage their existing services and generate new revenues from broadcast TV, movies on demand and multimedia. Triple-play is a combination of broadcast, telephony and broadband services offered through IPTV networks. With cable operators allowed to offer a triple-play bundle, the nation's telecom operators are beginning to get a little anxious. Cable operators assert that triple-play is a must-have and natural extension of the cable service bundle. The Korean Cable TV Association asserts that the triple-play model is of paramount importance to the cable industry's future growth. But the telecom sector considers itself unfairly disadvantaged, saying they cannot compete until regulatory issues are resolved. The start of web-based television in Korea may still be some time off with a confrontation between the nation's IT regulator and broadcasting sector over the service's legal boundaries shows no signs of being resolved my time soon. korea should be is the fastest-growing provider of IPTV solutions in the industry, with over worldwide customers.

The Study of End-to-end Internet Service Quality Evaluation in Convergence ICT Service Environment (ICT 융합서비스 환경에서의 종단간 인터넷 서비스 품질 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Various services such as IPTV(Internet Protocol TV), Internet Telephony are provided through multiple ISPs(Internet Service Providers) as ICT technologies are evolving. This paper suggests that the end-to-end Internet service quality evaluation method, which is optimized for domestic environment based on international standards. The end-to-end service quality determines the quality of IPTV and Internet Telephony services and is critical factor for subjective quality as well. As a result, time delay, jitter and packet loss rate are three elements for the quality evaluation. It is also shown that these factors can be predicted with traditional statistical method by sharing minimum amount of information between ISPs.
