  • To reduce time to market for converged services, the service provider needs to combine external services and internal processes together, and IT architecture for converged services has to support it. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) enables the development of a converged service by combining external services and internal processes effectively. However, it is difficult for the existing SOA methods to support the evolution of a converged service, even though the service which consists of the converged service changes over time. In this paper, we argue that a method for profile-based dynamic service binding is required to support evolution of converged services. In order to identify requirements for the proposed method, a business scenario with a smart athletic equipment is given. We then present the concept and architecture of the method for profile-based dynamic service binding to meet the identified requirements. We also demonstrate a prototype implementation for evaluating the proposed method.

  • The MobileNetV3 is specially designed for mobile devices with limited memory and computing power. To reduce the network parameters and improve the network inference speed, a new lightweight network is proposed based on MobileNetV3. Firstly, to reduce the computation of residual blocks, a partial residual structure is designed by dividing the input feature maps into two parts. The designed partial residual structure is used to replace the residual block in MobileNetV3. Secondly, a dual-path feature extraction structure is designed to further reduce the computation of MobileNetV3. Different convolution kernel sizes are used in the two paths to extract feature maps with different sizes. Besides, a transition layer is also designed for fusing features to reduce the influence of the new structure on accuracy. The CIFAR-100 dataset and Image Net dataset are used to test the performance of the proposed partial residual structure. The ResNet based on the proposed partial residual structure has smaller parameters and FLOPs than the original ResNet. The performance of improved MobileNetV3 is tested on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100 and ImageNet image classification task dataset. Comparing MobileNetV3, GhostNet and MobileNetV2, the improved MobileNetV3 has smaller parameters and FLOPs. Besides, the improved MobileNetV3 is also tested on CPU and Raspberry Pi. It is faster than other networks

  • This paper proposes robust source localization methods for estimating the azimuth angle, elevation angle, velocity, and range using a low-complexity planar antenna array in impulsive non-Gaussian noise environments. The proposed robust source localization methods for wireless communication applications are based on nonlinear M-estimation provided from Huber and Hampel. Simulation results show the robustness performance of the proposed robust methods in impulsive non-Gaussian noise.

  • This paper proposes an additional forward error correction (FEC) layer to compensate for the defectiveness inherent in the conventional FEC layer in the Long Term Evolution specifications. The proposed additional layer is called a graceful degradation (GD)-FEC layer and maintains desirable service quality even under burst data loss conditions of a few seconds. This paper also proposes a non-delayed decoding (NDD)-GD-FEC layer that is inherent in the decoding process. Computer simulations and device-based tests show a better loss recovery performance with a negligible increase in CPU utilization and occupied memory size.

  • Context-awareness techniques in ubiquitous computing environment provide various services to users who need to get information via the analysis of collected information from sensors in a spatial area. Context-awareness has been increased in ubiquitous computing and is applied to many different applications such as disaster management system, intelligent robot system, transportation management system, shopping management system, and digital home service. Many researches have recently focused on services that provide the appropriate information, which are collected from Internet by different kinds of sensors, to users according to context of their surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose an abstraction model to manage the large-scale contextual information and their metadata which are collected from different kinds of in-situ sensors in a spatial area and are presented them on the web. This model is composed of the modules expressing functional elements of sensors using sensorML(Sensor Model Language) based on XML language and the modules managing contextual information, which is transmitted from the sensors.

  • We propose a millimeter wave (MMW)-based mobile hotspot network (MHN) system for application in high-speed railways that is capable of supporting a peak backhaul link throughput of 1 Gbps per train at 400 km/h. The MHN system can be implemented in subways and high-speed trains to support passengers with smart devices and provide access to the Internet. The proposed system can overcome the inherent high path loss in MMW through system designs and high antenna gains. We present a simulation of the system performance that shows that a fixed beamforming strategy can provide high signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio similar to those of an adaptive beamforming strategy, with the exception of 15% of the train path in which the network can use link adaptation with low-order modulation formats or trigger a handover to maintain the connection. We also demonstrate the feasibility of the MHN system using a test bed deployed in Seoul subway line 8. The backhaul link throughput varies instantaneously between 200 Mbps and 500 Mbps depending on the SNR variations while the train is running. During the field trial, the smartphones used could make connections through offloading.

  • In this paper, we analyze the location accuracy of real-time locating systems (RTLSs) in multipath environments in which the RTLSs comply with the ISO/IEC 24730-2 international standard. To analyze the location error of RTLS in multipath environments, we consider a direct path and indirect path, in which time and phase are delayed, and also white Gaussian noise is added. The location error depends strongly on both the noise level and phase difference under a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime, but only on the noise level under a high SNR regime. The phase difference effect can be minimized by matching it to the time delay difference at a ratio of 180 degrees per 1 chip time delay (Tc). At a relatively high SNR of 10 dB, a location error of less than 3 m is expected at any phase and time delay value of an indirect signal. At a low SNR regime, the location error range increases to 8.1 m at a 0.5 Tc, and to 7.3 m at a 1.5 Tc. However, if the correlation energy is accumulated for an 8-bit period, the location error can be reduced to 3.9 m and 2.5 m, respectively.

  • Data outsourcing in the cloud (DOC) is a promising solution for data management at the present time, but it could result in the disclosure of outsourced data to unauthorized users. Therefore, protecting the confidentiality of such data has become a very challenging issue. The conventional way to achieve data confidentiality is to encrypt the data via asymmetric or symmetric encryptions before outsourcing. However, this is computationally inefficient because encryption/decryption operations are time-consuming. In recent years, a few DOC schemes based on secret sharing have emerged due to their low computational complexity. However, Dautrich and Ravishankar pointed out that most of them are insecure against certain kinds of collusion attacks. In this paper, we proposed a novel DOC scheme based on Shamir's secret sharing to overcome the security issues of these schemes. Our scheme can allow an authorized data user to recover all data files in a specified subset at once rather than one file at a time as required by other schemes that are based on secret sharing. Our thorough analyses showed that our proposed scheme is secure and that its performance is satisfactory.
