효율적인 네트워크 관리를 위한 응용 트래픽 분석의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 헤더 기반 분석 방법론은 기존 분석 방법론의 한계점들분석 오버헤드, 페이로드 암호화 등)을 극복하기 위해 응용 트래픽의 헤더 정보를 시그니쳐로 추출{IP address, port number, transport layer protocol TCP/UDP)}하여 트래픽을 분석한다. 헤더 기반 트래픽 분석 방법론은 헤더 정보를 사용하기 때문에 많은 양의 시그니쳐가 추출된다. 따라서 최적의 시그니쳐를 유지할 수 있는 관리 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 시그니쳐로 분석된 트래픽의 특성과 시그니쳐의 분석이력을 이용하여 최적의 시그니쳐를 관리하는 방법론을 제안한다. 또한, 실험과 검증을 통하여 헤더 시그니쳐 관리 방법의 타당성을 증명한다.

1990년대 초반에 IETF(Internet Engineering TaskForce)는 IPv4의 주소 고갈 문제에 대한 임시해결책인 CIDR(Classless Inter-Domain Routing), NAT, 사설 IP 주소 등의 도입과 함께 기존 IPv4 주소 체계에서의 많은 단점들을 수정 및 보완할 수 있는 새로운 주소체계 도입에 관한 논의를 시작하였다. 그 결과 새로운 주소 체계와 관련된 다양한 표준안들이 제안되었는데, 이들 중 가장 발전 가능성이 높은 방안으로 SIPP(Simple Internet Protocol Plus)가 채택되어 지금의 IPv6로 발전하였다. 기존의 IPv4에서 실시간 데이터의 처리 능력과 QoS 관련 성능, 보안, 라우팅의 효율성 등의 많은 분야와 관련하여 부족했던 부분들이 수정 및 보완됨과 동시에 새로운 개념들이 도입되었다. 하지만 IPv6 환경에서도 보안을 위협할 만한 다양한 요소들이 존재하며, 이에 따라 안정적인 데이터 통신 환경의 필요성이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 일방향으로 데이터를 전송하면 불확실하고 잠재적인 위협 요소로부터 시스템을 보호할 가능성이 높아진다는 점에 착안하여, IPv6 환경에서의 일방향 통신 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 먼저 기반 환경인 IPv6 및 ICMPv6에 대해 조사 및 분석하고 그에 따른 해결방안인 일방향 통신 알고리즘을 제시한다.

Traditional Internet pricing schemes are coming under continual pressure to adapt to, and encourage, a changing mix of Internet applications and consumer usage patterns. Much research effort over the last decade has been focused on developing more efficient and attractive charging schemes. However, none of the proposed models has been widely deployed. This raises questions regarding the inhibiting factors and missing pieces that make pricing the Internet such a challenge. In this paper, we discuss the problems with current Internet pricing schemes, review the history of Internet pricing research over the last ten years, and summarize the key features and motivations of the most significant models. We develop a novel visual approach to comparing and evaluating such schemes using a three-dimensional (3D) metric encompassing technical efficiency, economic efficiency, and social impact. We address and discuss the important factors that have inhibited the deployment of the reviewed models and suggest productive areas of focus for future Internet pricing research.

본 논문에서는 인터넷공유기 내부의 사설IP주소가 설정된 인터넷 전화단말을 효율적으로 관리하고 제어하기 위한 인터넷 전화단말 원격관리시스템을 설계 및 개발하였다. 개발시스템의 동작은 관리시스템에서 원격에 있는 공유기내부의 인터넷 전화단말로 SMS메시지를 보내서 그것으로 인하여 전화단말에서 망 관리 프로토콜인 SNMP Trap 메세지를 발생토록 하여 UDP세션을 생성시키고, 이 생성된 UDP hole을 통하여 인터넷 전화단말의 각종 관리정보를 수집하게 하였다. 개발시스템의 성능을 실험실 환경의 시험네트워크를 구축하여 시험한 결과, 관리시스템에서 인터넷 전화단말로 관리정보 수집을 위한 접속이 원활히 이루어지고, 인터넷 전화단말의 각종 관리정보가 정상적으로 수집되고 관리됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 개발시스템은 향후 인터넷 전화단말의 효율적인 관리와 서비스품질 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

인터넷의 주소 문제를 해결하고자 등장한 차세대 인터넷 프로토콜인 IPv6는 현재 많은 곳에서 실험적 또는 상업적으로 사용되고 있다. 성공적으로 IPv6로 전환하기 위해서 무엇보다도 필요한 것이 기존에 동작하고 있는 IPv4 호스트 및 라우터와의 호환성과 IPv4에서 사용되고 있는 많은 응용프로그램들과의 호환성이다. IPv6 전환 메커니즘 중에 하나인 NAT-PT (Network Address Translation-Protocol Translation)는 IPv4 주소와 IPv6 주소를 자연스럽게 변환하여 IPv4 호스트와 IPv4 호스트간에 통신을 가능하게 한다. 그러나 DNS와 FTP같이 인터넷 주소가 패킷의 데이터 영역에 포함이 된 경우에는 별도로 처리해주는 메커니즘이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 NAT-PT에서 IPv4 호스트와 IPv6 호스트 간에 FTP 서비스를 지원해 주기 위해서 필요한 FTP-ALG (Application Layer Gateway)를 설계하고 구현하는 방법에 관하여 기술한다.

Internet-based EDI is emerging as a prominent substitute technology for traditional VAN-based EDI technology. The strength of this new technology is based on the explosive growth of Internet community, low "fixed-rate" Internet expense and "globally" open base of its participants. These strengths of Internet-baed EDI bring vast new opportunities for enterprises and thus. have as much implications for IT managers. However, Internet-based EDI technology has, at least by now, several drawbacks too. Most of these drawbacks also comes from the fact that it has its structural base on the Internet. Managers should carefully consider these drawbacks and hidden costs before adopting or switching to this attractive new technology. This presentation attempts to address major trends of Internet-based EDI and its implementation, opportunities and threats of the changes in technology, factors to consider in adopting this technology, and several managerial and strategic tradeoffs and implications of Internet-based EDI for IT managers.

IP 주소 검색 문제는 IP 주소에 대해서 매칭되는 길이가 가장 IP 접두사를 라이팅 테이블로부터 찾는 것으로서, 인터넷의 고속화에 장애가 되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 세그먼트 트리라는 자료 구조를 이용하여 이 문제에 대한 새로운 알고리즘을 제시한다. 본 논문에서는 제시하는 알고리즘은 n개의 접두사가 주어졌을 때 Ο(log n) 시간에 IP 접두사를 검색할 수 있다. 또 기존의 알고리즘에서 문제가 되었던 IP 접두사의 삽입과 삭제 연산을 자료 구조 전체를 다시 만들지 않고 효율적으로 처리한다.

We present a new network-layer architecture that provides generalized addressing. The forwarding infrastructure is independent of the addressing architecture, so multiple addressing architectures can be used simultaneously. We compare our solution with the existing Internet protocols for unicast and multicast services, given the address assignment used in the Internet. By means of an extensive simulation study, we determine the range of parameters for which the overhead costs(delay, state, and network load) of our service are comparable to those of the Internet.

이 논문은 번호문 번호체계를 이용한 보편개인대표번호 (UPAN)체계를 구현하는 방안데 대하여 기술한 것이다. UPTN과 eNUM에 기반을 두고 정음한글의 번호문 번호체계 (NAN)에서 UPAN을 구현하는 방안을 제시하였다. 이는 PSTN 번호체계와 IP기반 주소이름 체계를 통합하여 새로운 ID부여와 통신서비스용 번호로 사용케 할 수가 있다. 이를 통해서 개인이 보유한 수개의 번호와 자국어 주소이름 체계를 등록함으로서 대표주소번호로 단일화 할 수 있다. 이 번호체계는 유선지능망과 IP 망의 결합 망구조와 자료기지 DB 구성방법에 대하여 스프라 이용 구조를 결정하여 망을 구성하는데 고려함과 UPAN체계가 개인대표주소번호는 물론 신기통신망의 수프라 이용 구도를 규정할 수 있는 선결 과제임을 확인하였다.
