  • Gerotor Pump and Motors are widely used in lubrication and hydraulic actuator systems, These have many advantage compared with internal gear pump and motors, But the gerotor profile have not been sufficiently analyzed theoretically. So it is vary difficult for designer to decide the specifications of the gerotor profile, and it is not yet confirmed to calculating flow rate and minimum distance of clearance in the contact point of inner and outer rotor. In this paper, When we design inner and outer rotor concurently, We have analyzed the gerotor and displayed the calculated results such as flow rate, minumum distance between inner and outer rotor and gerotor profiles

  • This paper deals with the design process for an outer-rotor-type surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) used in continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) systems in automobiles with internal combustion engines. When the same size, outer-rotor-type SPMSMs generate larger torque and more stable than inner-rotor-type SPMSMs. For the initial design, space harmonic analysis (SHA) is used. In order to minimize the cogging torque, an optimization was conducted using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). At the end of the paper, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is performed to verify the performance of the optimum model.

  • Six stator slot couplers(SSC) and a flux probe sensor installed on the stator winding slots of large turbine generator. Assessment of insulation condition has been based upon the measurements of partial discharge(PD) of stator windings and shorted-turn of rotor windings in operating large turbine generator. The maximum PD magnitude(Qm), normalized quantify number(NQN), PD pattern and shorted-turn were measured using on-line insulation condition monitoring system. The NQN and Qm of slot PD side in the phase A are indicated the highest value in six SSC sensors. Monitoring system results showed that discharge at conductor surface and internal discharge were detected at the surface of stator winding and in voids of the groundwall insulation. Insulation of stator and rotor windings in large turbine generator was judged to be in good condition.

  • The aim of this study was to find the initial design value of turbine blade for electrical type turbocompound system generating 10 kW. Turbocompound is one of the waste heat recovery system applying to internal combustion engine to recover exhaust gas energy that was about 30 % of total input energy. To design the turbine blade, 1-D mean line flow model was used. Exhaust gas temperature, pressure, flow rate and turbine rotating speed was fixed as primary boundary conditions. The velocity triangles was defined and used to determine the rotor inlet radius and width, the rotor outlet radius at shroud and radius at hub, the rotor flow angles and the number of blades.

  • Computational methods based on the solution of the flow model are widely used for the analysis of lowspeed, inviscid, attached-flow problems. Most of such methods are based on the implementation of the internal Dirichlet boundary condition. In this paper, the time-domain panel method uses the piecewise constant source and doublet singularities. The present method utilizes the time-stepping loop to simulate the unsteady motion of the rotary wing blade. The wake geometry is calculated as part of the solution with no special treatment. To validate the results of aerodynamic characteristics, the typical blade was chosen such as, Caradonna-Tung blade and present results were compared with the experimental data and the other numerical results in the single blade condition and two blade condition. This isolated rotor blade model consisted of a two bladed rotor with untwisted, rectangular planform blade. Computed flow-field solutions were presented for various section of the blade in the hovering mode.

  • A procedure of stress and strength analysis has been proposed for the centrifuge rotor of composite materials of quasi-isotropic laminates. The goal in this study is to maximize the allowable rotating speed, that is, to minimize maximum strength ratio with the given path length by changing the geometric parameter-outer radius and ply angles in quasi-isotropic laminates. Optimum values of the geometric parameter-outer radius and ply angles are obtained by multilevel optimization. All the geometric dimensions and stresses are normalized such that the result can be extended to a general case. Two dimensional analysis at each cross section with an elliptic tube hole subjected to internal hydrostatic pressures by samples as well as the centrifugal body forces has been performed along the height to calculate the stress distribution with the plane stress assumption, and Tsai-Wu failure criterion is used to calculate the strength ratio. The maximum allowable rotating speed can be increased by changing the radii of the outer surface along the height with the maximum strength ratio under the unit value : The optimal number of ply angles maximizing the allowable rotating speed in quasi-isotropic laminates is found to be the half number of tube hole, and the optimal laminate rotation angle is the half of $[{\pi}/m]$. A $[{\pi}/3]$ laminate, for instance, is stronger than a $[{\pi}/4]$ laminate for the centrifuge rotor of 6 tube hole number even though they have the same stiffness.

  • Most modern wind turbines employ a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) system due to its many advantages, such as variable speed operation, relatively high efficiency, and small converter size. The DFIG system uses a wound rotor induction machine so that the magnetizing current of the generator can be fed from both the stator and the rotor. We propose a protection algorithm for a DFIG based on a d-q equivalent circuit in the time domain. In the DFIG, the voltages and currents of the rotor side and the stator side are available. The proposed algorithm estimates the instantaneous induced voltages of magnetizing inductance using those voltages and currents from both the stator and the rotor sides. If the difference between the two estimated induced voltages exceeds the threshold, the proposed algorithm detects an internal fault. The performance of the proposed algorithm is verified under various operating and fault conditions using a PSCAD/EMTDC simulator.

  • Molecular reorientation of oblate symmetric top molecules in the presence of internal rotation is investigated and an analytic expression for the spin-rotational relaxation rate of a nucleus attached to the internal rotor is obtained as a function of the internal angular momentum correlation time. The overall reorientation of the symmetric top is treated by the anisotropic rotational diffusion and the internal rotation is assumed to undergo modified extended rotational diffusion. The result is compared with the previous work for the prolate symmetric top molecule and it is shown that both results reduce to the same expression in the spherical top limit.

  • A QRT(Quad-Rotor Type) hovering robot system is developed for quick detection and observation of the circumstances under calamity environment such as indoor fire spots. The UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is equipped with four propellers driven by each electric motor, an embedded controller using a DSP, INS(Inertial Navigation System) using 3-axis rate gyros, a CCD camera with wireless communication transmitter for observation, and an ultrasonic range sensor for height control. The developed hovering robot shows stable flying performances under the adoption of RIC(Robust Internal-loop Compensator) based disturbance compensation and the vision based localization method. The UAV can also avoid obstacles using eight IR and four ultrasonic range sensors. The VTOL(Vertical Take-Off and Landing) flying object flies into indoor fire spots and sends the images captured by the CCD camera to the operator. This kind of small-sized UAV can be widely used in various calamity observation fields without danger of human beings under harmful environment.

  • Clocking effects of a stator on the performance and internal flow in an UTRC 1.5 stage axial turbine are investigated using a three-dimensional unsteady flow simulation. Six relative positions of two rows of stator are investigated by positioning the second stator being clocked in a step of 1/6 pitch. The relative efficiency benefit of about 1% is obtained depending on the clocking positions. However, internal flows have some different characteristics from that in the previous study at the best and worst efficiency positions, since the first stator wake is mixed out with the rotor wake before arriving at the leading edge of the second stator. Instead of the first stator wake, it is found that the wake interaction of the first stator and rotor has a important role on a relative efficiency variation at each clocking position. The time-averaged local efficiency along the span at the maximum efficiency is more uniform than that at the minimum efficiency. That is, the spanwise efficiency distribution at the minimum efficiency has larger values in mid-span but smaller values near the hub and casing in comparison to those at the maximum efficiency. Moreover, the difference between maximum and minimum instantaneous efficiencies during one period is found to be smaller at the maximum efficiency than at the minimum efficiency.
