  • In this study, simulation of weak shock waves are peformed by a two-dimensional thermal fluid or compressible fluid model of the lattice Boltzmann method. The shock wave represents an abrupt change in fluids properties, in which finite variations in pressure, internal energies, and density occur over the shock thickness. The characteristics of the proposed model with a simple distribution function is verified by calculation of the sound speeds, and the shock tube problem. The reflection of a weak shock wave by wedge propagating in a channel is performed. The results agree well with those by finite difference method or by experiment. In the simulation of unsteady shock wave diffraction around a sharp corner, we show a flow field of vortical structure near the comer.

  • Full color holographic optical element fabrication using a photopolymer is proposed for a waveguide-type head mounted display. The fabricated full color holographic optical elements can be attached to the waveguide to replace the conventional couple-in and couple-out optics in the head mounted display. To implement the system, this study analyzed the optical characteristics of the photopolymer using three lasers (red, green and blue). Considering the color uniformity, a new laminated structure for a full color holographic optical element was also designed. The proposed system was confirmed experimentally.

  • Carnival is an allowed chance to express ordinarily suppressed and overlooked emotions. Especially with strong meaning of daily overthrow masks, masquerades, and mask-costumes are essential for expressing methods and festival personality reasons. Carnival in modern society without losing a significant portion religion in a format suitable for the era of secularization and the transformation has been created of nothing, that is not a reflection of society is also a cultural phenomenon of its own internal social and external conditions through a variety of means can analogy cultural phenomenon is a stage. The purpose of this research comes from the carnival festivities, religious background, but the daily routine of life to know who joined his escape with the conduction of the role, going to enjoy the satire and humor, using the Dress to the eruption, which means that the form of the festival variety of analysis and with the victory of the expression of cultural phenomena and features on the festival and the dress for you should you wish to study.

  • Unlike the conventional waveguide such as optical fiber using total internal reflection, photonic crystal waveguide(PCW), a waveguide made of a line defect in a photonic crystal(PC) structure, does not admit an analytic approach due to its complexity but requires a direct numerical approach. Here, we present numerical results of computer simulation for PCW by using the three-dimensional(3D) Finite-Difference Time -Domain(FDTD) algorithm. (omitted)

  • We describe a 32" liquid-crystal display (LCD) with multi-touch sensing capability by integrating IR detector arrays onto the LED backlight plate. A transparent light guide is placed in front of the display screen, with IR LEDs disposed at its edges and emitting IR light into the light guide, the light is trapped by total internal reflection within the light guide to be as touch-sensing light. A physical contact with the acrylic plate surface will stimulate some trapped light to be escaped from the light guide and pass through LCD panel to be detected by the IR detectors. The touch-sensing LCD with this configuration can locate simultaneous multiple touche points on the touchable surface.

  • With development of IT technology, the ubiquitous has been realized in various industry. In construction industry, as well, end-edge techniques have been introduced such as managing technique the temperature and compressive strength of the concrete placed in structure in domestic and abroad project sites. However, several problems were found during application at the actual field regarding difficulties of connecting Bluetooth communication due to the short communication range, diffuse reflection caused by aluminum formwork, and high cost by using one-time sensor. Therefore to recover these shortages, and improve the performances, the wireless sensor network based concrete IoT management system for concrete early-age quality management was developed.

  • We have designed a new TIR(Total Internal Reflection) structure for generating an LED lens which can produce a rectangular beam with small divergence angle in two perpendicular directions for an optical guidance system. The lens can control the divergence angle in the horizontal direction to be a small value of about $8^{\circ}$ with a $1mm{\times}1mm$ LED source, also in the vertical direction it can be about $7^{\circ}$, with optical collection efficiency higher than 0.83. After the lens is manufactured, the work demonstrates that the lens is suitable for an optical guidance system.

  • Over the past decade the experimental technique of THz time domain spectroscopy (㎔- TDS) has proved to be a versatile method for investigating a wide range of phenomena in the ㎔ or far infrared spectral region from 100 ㎓ to 5 ㎔. This paper reviews some recent results of the Ultrafast ㎔ Research Group at Oklahoma State University using ㎔-TDS as a characterization tool. The experimental technique is described along with recent results on ㎔ beam propagation and how ㎔ beam profiles arise from propagation of pulse fronts along caustics. To illustrate how spatio-temporal electric field measurements can determine material properties over a wide spectral range, propagation of ㎔ pulses through systems exhibiting frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) are reviewed. Finally two potential metrology applications of ㎔-TDS are discussed, thin film characterization and non-destructive evaluation of ceramics. Although ㎔-TDS has been confined to the research laboratory, the focus on application may stimulate the adoption of ㎔- TDS for industrial or metrology applications.

  • We observe that the transmission and reflection efficiencies of a one-dimensional metallic grating under transverse-magnetic illumination calculated using the Fourier modal method (FMM) with the Fourier factorization rules have peculiar fluctuations, albeit small in magnitude, as the number of field harmonics increases. It is shown that when the number of Fourier terms for the electromagnetic field is increased from that in the conventional FMM, the fluctuations due to non-convergent highly evanescent eigenmodes can be eliminated. Our examination reveals that the fluctuations originate from the Gibbs phenomenon inherent in the Fourier-series representation of a permittivity function with discontinuities, and from non-convergence of highly evanescent internal Bloch eigenmodes.

  • In this paper, we propose the optical system design for a medium sized LED marine lanterns which simplifies the multi-layer structure into a single structure. In order to satisfy the target fixed intensity(35,000cd) and vertical divergence($-2.5^{\circ}{\sim}-4.0^{\circ}$, $+2.5^{\circ}{\sim}+4.0^{\circ}$), we use the total internal reflection collimator lens. And a Monte Carlo simulation has been utilized to optimize a condition of a LED package, TIR lens and outside lens. The computer simulation results indicated that this LED marine lanterns can produce of a fixed intensity(35,382cd) and vertical divergence($-3.1^{\circ}{\sim}+2.5^{\circ}$). Using the this optical system, we achieve the target value of LED lanterns.
