The boiler tube failure often experienced in the superheater of a utility boiler can seriously affect the economic and safe operation of the power plant. It has been known that this failure is mainly caused by the thermal load deviation in the superheater tube system, and deeply intensified by the non-uniform distribution of steam flow rates. The nonuniform steam flow is distinctively prominent at low power load rather than at full power load. In this paper, we analyze the steam flow distribution in the superheater tube system by using one dimensional flow network model. At 30% power load, the deviation of steam flow rate is predicted to be within 0.8% of the averaged flow rate. This deviation can be reduced to 0.1% and 0.07% by assuming two cases, that is, the removal of 13th tube at each tube rows and the installation of intermediate header, respectively. The assumed two cases would be effective for the uniform steam flow distribution across 85 superheater tube rows.
Krishna River is significantly affected due to Srisailam dam from past 30 years. The impact of this hydraulic structure drastically reduced the minimum flow regime on the downstream, which made the river nearing to decaying stage. In the present paper, Environmental Flow called minimum flow values released for the dam are estimated with the help of three hydrological methods viz., Range of variability Approach (RVA), Desktop Reserve Model (DRM), and Global Environmental Flow Calculator (GEFC). DRM method suggested considering the intermediate values obtained from among the three methods to preserve the ecosystem on the downstream of the river, which amounts to an average annual allocation of 9378 Million Cubic Meter (MCM) which is equal to 23.11% of mean annual flow (MAF). In this regard GEFC and RVA methods accounted for 22% and 31.04% of MAF respectively. The results indicate that current reservoir operation policy is causing a severe hydrological alteration in the high flow season especially in the month of July. The study concluded that in the case of non-availability of environmental information, hydrological indicators can be used to provide the basic assessment of environmental flow requirements. It is inferred from the results obtained from the study, that the new reservoir operations can fulfil human water needs without disturbing Environmental Flow Requirements.
Theoretical calculation results are presented for the enhancement of the water mass flow rate through the hydrophobic micro/nano pores in the membrane respectively on the micrometer and nanometer scales. The water-pore wall interfacial slippage is considered. When the pore diameter is critically low (less than 1.82nm), the water flow in the nanopore is non-continuum and described by the nanoscale flow equation; Otherwise, the water flow is essentially multiscale consisting of both the adsorbed boundary layer flow and the intermediate continuum water flow, and it is described by the multiscale flow equation. For no wall slippage, the calculated water flow rate through the pore is very close to the classical hydrodynamic theory calculation if the pore diameter (d) is larger than 1.0nm, however it is considerably smaller than the conventional calculation if d is less than 1.0nm because of the non-continuum effect of the water film. When the driving power loss on the pore is larger than the critical value, the wall slippage occurs, and it results in the different scales of the enhancement of the water flow rate through the pore which are strongly dependent on both the pore diameter and the driving power loss on the pore. Both the pressure drop and the critical power loss on the pore for starting the wall slippage are also strongly dependent on the pore diameter.
A 12-year-old dog was referred due to multiple superficial lymphadenopathy. On cytology, each lymph node showed different cell populations where some of them consisted of intermediate to large lymphocytes with frequent Mott cells. Presence of Mott cells along with immature lymphocytes made the cytological diagnosis challenging, and therefore, supplementary diagnostic tests including PCR for Antigen Receptor Rearrangement (PARR) assay and flow cytometry were performed. This case report illustrates the value of flow cytometry in the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy with ambiguous cytologic findings.

In recent decades, the dry stream phenomena of small and medium sized rivers have been attracting much attention as an important social problem. To prevent dry stream phenomena, it is necessary to build an infrastructure that manages rivers. To accurately determine the progress of dry stream phenomena, it is necessary to continuously measure the discharge and other hydrological factors for small and medium sized rivers. However, until now, the flow data for small and medium rivers in Korea has been insufficient. To overcome the lack of supporting data for supporting rational decision-making in policy and project implementation, a short- and long-term hydrological model was developed that takes into consideration hydrological changes such as the increase of the impervious area due to urban development and groundwater pumping, the construction of a large-scale sewage treatment plant, the maintenance of stream-oriented rivers, etc. In the developed model, the distributed grid is represented by three layers: Surface flow, interflow, and groundwater flow. The surface flow and intermediate flow flowed along the flow direction, and the groundwater flow was calculated by a two-dimensional groundwater analysis model such that the outflow occurred in all directions without a specific flow direction. The effects of land use and cover on evapotranspiration and infiltration and the effects of multiple landscapes can be simulated in the developed model.

In this study, the effective treatment reducing geosmin and dosage of PAC was suggested when taste & odor compounds flow in. The removal efficiency of geosmin was evaluated with types of chlorination. In case of low geosmin concentration below 25 ng/L, removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 46% by combined treatment of pre and intermediate-chlorination. But, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 57%. In the medium geosmin concentration (25~79 ng/L), removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 59% by combined treatment. But, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 87%. When high geosmin concentration above 80 ng/L flows in, removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 69% by combined treatment. However, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 95%. Then, the exclusive intermediate-chlorination has an important effect on removal of geosmin. After correlation of geosmin concentration and dosage of PAC was analyzed, the coefficient of determination was estimated at 0.96. And, the proper PAC dosage chart was proposed. Also, at a initial occurrence of geosmin, when the combined treatment by intermediate-chlorination and PAC was applied, particle-bound geosmin should be removed continuously. Finally, it is proved that the combined treatment was effective to remove the geosmin by threshold levels as well as to reduce the dosage of PAC.
This paper presents an experimental study on the influence of principal stress direction and magnitude of intermediate principal stress on the undrained stress-strain-strength behaviors of Bangkok Clay. The results of torsional shear hollow cylinder and advanced triaxial tests with various principal stress directions and magnitudes of intermediate principal stress on undisturbed Bangkok Clay specimens are presented. The analysis of testing results include: (i) stress-strain and pore pressure behaviors, (ii) stiffness characteristics, and (iii) strength characteristics. The results assert clear evidences of anisotropic characteristics of Bangkok Clay at pre-failure and failure conditions. The magnitude of intermediate principal stress for plane-strain condition is also investigated. Both failure surface and plastic potential in deviatoric plane of Bangkok Clay are demonstrated to be isotropic and of circular shape which implies an associated flow rule. It is also observed that the shape of failure surface in deviatoric plane changes its size, while retaining its circular shape, with the change in direction of major principal stress. Concerning the behavior of Bangkok Clay found from this study, the discussions on the effects of employed constitutive modeling approach on the resulting numerical analysis are made.
Very High Temperature Reactor (VHTR) has been selected as a high energy heat source for a nuclear hydrogen generation. The VHTR heat is transferred to a thermo-chemical hydrogen production process through an intermediate loop. Both Process Heat Exchanger and sulfuric acid evaporator provide the coupled components between the VHTR intermediate loop and hydrogen production module. A small scaled Compact Nuclear Hydrogen Coupled Components test loop is developed to simulate the VHTR intermediate loop and hydrogen production module. Main objective of the loop is to screening the candidates of NHDD (Nuclear Hydrogen Development and Demonstration) coupled components. The operating condition of the gas loop is a temperature up to $950^{\circ}C$ and a pressure up to 6.0MPa. The thermal and fluid dynamic design of the loop is dependent on the structures that enclose the gas flow, especially primary side that has fast gas velocity. We designed and constructed a small scale sulfuric acid experimental system which can simulate a part of the hydrogen production module also.
The shock wave is deformed and the vortex is elongated simultaneously during the shock-vortex interaction. More precisely, the shock wave is deformed to a S-shape, consisting of a leading shock and a lagging shock by which the corresponding local vortex flows are accelerated and decelerated, respectively: the vortex flow swept by the leading shock is locally expanded and the one behind the lagging shock is locally compressed. As the leading shock escapes the vortex in the order of microseconds, the expanded flow region is quickly changed to a compression region due to the implosion effect. An induced shock is developed here and propagated against the vortex flow. This happens for a strong vortex because the tangential flow velocity of the vortex core is high enough to make the induced-shock wave speed supersonic relative to the vortex flow. For a weak shock, the vortex is basically subsonic and the induced shock wave is absent. For a vortex of intermediate strength, an induced shock wave is developed in the supersonic region but dissipated prematurely in the subsonic region. We have expounded these three shock-vortex interaction patterns that depend on the vortex flow regime using a third-order ENO method and numerical shadowgraphs.

As there can be coincident bursts which may result in congetsion in a node of ATM network, reactive flow control schemes are required to guarantee user's Quality of Service. But, the high speed characteristics of ATM networks make it difficult to control source transmission rate in reacting to congestions in intermediate nodes. Therefore, flow control in Customer Premise Network may be more efficient than end-to-end flow control. In this paper, we propose a management model for flow ontrol in CPN and new Network Access Flow/Congestsion control scheme to utilize efficiently Virtual Path Connection.
