Precipitation, Resolubilization and Luminescent Properties of Tris (2,2$^\prime$-diimine)Ruthenium(II) Complexes in Premicellar Anionic Surfactant Solutions

  • Premicellar precipitation, resolubilization and luminescing behaviors of $RuL_3^{2+}$ (L = bpy, phen, $Me_2bpy$) in aqueous alkylsulfate and sulfonate solutions were studied. Addition of the anionic surfactants to $RuL_3\;^{2+}$ solutions caused initial precipitation which was redissolved by further addition of the surfactants. The apparent solubility products $K_{sp}$'s of the precipitates were evaluated assuming 1:2 salt formation. The values were smaller as the ligand is more hydrophobic and the length of hydrocarbon chain of the surfactant is longer. The $K_{sp}$ values for L = bpy were constant over wide surfactant concentration range. However, those for L = $Me_2bpy$ and also for phen, but to less extent, increased with the surfactant concentration. The resolubilization of 1:2 salts was followed by red-shift of emission band and extensive emission quenching above critical concentration of the surfactants. The critical concentration was lower for more hydrophobic surfactant. For L = $Me_2bpy$, the blue-shifted emission band with enhanced emission intensity was observed in intermediate surfactant concentration region. The high ionic strength of media prevented the precipitate formation, but facilitated the red-shift of the emission bands. The results support that the precipitate is dissolved by accretion of surfactant anions to the salts to form water-soluble surfactant-rich $RuL_3$-surfactant anionic species. These species appeared to aggregate cooperatively to produce large clusters which exhibited the red-shifted emission.

빗자루병(病)에 감염(感染)된 대추나무 조직내(組織內) 단백질(蛋白質)의 전기영동(電氣泳動) (Electrophoresis of Proteins in the Tissues from Witches' - Broom infected Jujube Tree)

  • 대추나무가 대추나무 빗자루병(病)마이코플라스마(Jujube witches' broom mycoplasma)에 감염(感染)되었을 때 식물체내(植物体內)의 단백질상(蛋白質像)에 어떠한 변화(變化)가 일어나는가를 위해, 잎과 줄기조직(組織)의 단백질추출액(蛋白質抽出液)을 2-30% polyacylamide linear gradient disc gel 상(上)에서 전기영동(電氣泳動)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1) 건전조직(健全組織)과 감염조직(感染組織)의 단백질기영동상(蛋白質氣泳動像) 간(間)에는 뚜렷한 차이(差異)를 보였다. 즉, 건전엽(健全葉)에서 뚜렷하게 나타난 단백질영동대(蛋白質泳動帶) (분자량(分子量) 약(約) 50 kd)가 감염엽(感染葉)에서는 관찰(觀察)되지 않았다. 한편, 감염엽(感染葉)에서는 25 kd의 영동대(泳動帶)가, 그리고 건전엽(健全葉)에서는 198 kd의 영동대(泳動帶)가 각각(各各) 강(强)하게 나타났다. 2) 감염주내(感染珠內)의 외관상건전엽(外觀上健全葉)에서는 50 kd의 특이영동대(特異泳動帶)가 다소(多少) 약(弱)하게 나타남으로써 건전목(健全木)의 엽(葉)과 감염엽(感染葉)의 중간상태(中間狀態)의 단백질영동상(蛋白質泳動像)을 보였다. 3) 줄기의 경우 잎과는 대조적(對照的)으로, 건전(健全)줄기에 없는 특이영동대(特異泳動帶)(335 kd)가 감염(感染)줄기에서 나타났다.

공간해상도에 따른 위성 영상레이더 위상간섭기법 긴밀도 분석 (Interferometric coherence analysis using space-borne synthetic aperture radar with respect to spatial resolution)

  • 최근 고해상도 영상레이더를 탑재한 위성이 성공적으로 발사, 운용되고 있다. 이들 위성에서 획득된 자료를 이용한 위상간섭기법의 활용은 다양한 지구과학적 분야에서 보다 자세한 정보를 제공하고 있다. 위상간섭기법 적용에서 긴밀도는 영상레이더 자료로부터 생성된 위상간섭도 질을 평가하는 매우 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 미국 서부 텍사스에 위치한 엘파소 지역에 대한 고해상도 X-밴드 TerraSAR-X(TSX), L-밴드 ALOS PALSAR와 중해상도 C-밴드 Envisat ASAR 위성 영상레이더 자료의 긴밀도 특성을 분석 평가하고자 한다. 짧은 시간기선거리(temporal baseline) 조건에서 X-밴드 TSX 자료의 긴밀도는 0.3~0.6으로 L-밴드 ALOS PALSAR 자료와 유사한 정도의 높은 긴밀도를 나타내었다. 이 수치는 C-밴드 Envisat ASAR 자료에 비해서는 상당히 높은 것이며 영상레이더 신호의 파장이 길수록 위상간섭도의 긴밀도 유지에 있어 보다 유리하다는 일반적인 산란 이론을 고려해 볼 때 의미있는 결과라 할 수 있다. TSX 자료가 높은 긴밀도를 갖는 이유는 안정적인 산란 특성을 잘 반영할 수 있는 높은 공간 해상력이 하나의 원인일 것으로 추정된다. 하지만 11~33일 정도의 짧은 시간기선거리에서는 비교적 높은 긴밀도를 유지하는 반면에 시간기선거리가 다소 길어질 경우 긴밀도가 크게 저하된다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 긴밀도가 시간기선거리와 매우 밀접한 관계에 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • We proposed several systems for 1Giga bit Modem. The first, Binary ASK(Amplitude Shift Keying) system has a high speed shutter transmitter and no IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver only by symbol synchronization. The advantage of proposed system is that circuitry is very simple without IF process. The disadvantage of proposed system are that line spectrum occurs interference to other channels, and enhancement to 4-level system is impossible due to its large SNR degradation. The second, Binary phase modulation system has a high speed shutter transmitter and IF-VCO(IF-Voltage Controlled Oscillator) control by base-band phase rotation. Polarity of shutter window is changed by the binary data. The window should be narrow same as above ASK. The advantage of proposed system is which error rate performance is superior. The disadvantage of proposed system are that Circuitry is more complex, narrow pull-in range of receiver caused by VCO and spectrum divergence by the non-linear amplifier. The third, 4-QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation)system has a nyquist pulse transmitter and IF-VCO control by symbol clock. The advantage of proposed system are that signal frequency band is a half of 1GHz, reliable pull-in of VCO and possibility of double speed transmission(2Gbps) by keeping 1GHz frequency-band. The disadvantage of proposed system are that circuit complexity of pulse shaping and spectrum divergence by the non-linear amplifier.

DEVELOPMENT OF 230 GHZ RADIO RECEIVER SYSTEM FOR SRAO

  • We develop a radio receiver system operating at ${\lambda}{\sim}1.3$ mm for the 6 m telescope of Seoul Radio Astronomy Observatory. It consists of a dual polarization receiver, a couple of IF processing units, two FFT spectrometers, and associated software. By adopting sideband-separating superconductor mixers with image band terminated to waveguide load at 4.2 K, we achieve $T_{RX}{\leq}100$ K and $T_{sys}$ less than 150 K at best weather condition over 210-250 GHz frequency range. The intermediate frequency signal of 3.5-4.5 GHz is down converted to 0-1 GHz and fed into the FFT spectrometers. The spectrometer covers 1 GHz bandwidth with a spectral resolution of 61 KHz. Test observations are conducted toward several radio sources to evaluate the performance of the system. Aperture and beam efficiencies measured by observing planets are found to be typically 44 ~ 59% and 47 ~ 61%, respectively over the RF band, which are consistent with those measured at 3 mm band previously.

Pathogenicity of Korean isolates of Acanthamoeba by observing the experimental infection and zymodemes of five isoenzymes

  • To determine the pathogenicity of Acanthamoeba spp. isolated in Korea and to develop a isoenzymatic maker, the mortality rate of infected mice, in vitro cytotoxicity against target cells and isoenzyme band pattern were observed. Five isolates of Acanthamoeba spp. (YM-2, YM-3, YM-4, YM-5 and YM-7) were used in this study as well as three reference Acanthamoeba spp. (A. culbertsoni, A. hatchetti, and A. royreba). According to the mortality rate of infected mice, Korean isolated could be categorized into three groups: high virulent (YM-4), low virulent (YM-2, YM-5, YM-7) and the nonpathogenic group (YM-4), In addition, the virulence of Acanthamoeba spp. was enhanced by brain passage in mice. In the cytotoxicity assay against chinese hamster ovary cells, especially, the cytotoxicity of brain-passaged amoebae was relatively higher than the long-term cultivated ones. The zymodeme patterns of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), malate dehydrogenase (MDH), hexokinase (HK), glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) and malic enzyme (ME)of Acanthamoeba spp. were different among each isolate, and also between long-term cultrued amoebae and brain passaged ones. In spites of the polymorphic zymodemes, a slow band of G6PD and K, and an intermediate band of MDH were only observed in pathogenic Acanthamoeba spp., which should be used as isoenzymatic makers.

하향변환된 인접 IF신호간의 보호대역을 고려한 최소 대역통과 샘플링 주파수 선택 알고리즘 (An Algorithm of Minimum Bandpass Sampling Selection with Guard-band Between Down-converted Adjacent IF signals)

  • 본 논문은 SDR(software-defined radio) 시스템에 적용할 수 있는 기술로서, 대역통과 샘플링(bandpass sampling)이론을 사용하여 N개 RF 신호를 하나의 통신기기에서 직접 하향변환(down-conversion)할 때 요구되는 유효 샘플링 주파수 영역(valid sampling frequency range) 및 최소 샘플링 주파수를 찾는 방법을 제안하였다. 이 방식은 IF단의 신호배치에 대한 모든 순열을 고려하면서도 기존의 방식보다 효율적이며 복잡성이 낮은 방식을 새롭게 고안하여 N개의 신호에 대하여 수식을 유도하고 일반화 하였으며 컴퓨터 모의실험(simulation)을 통해 이 수식들을 증명하였다. 그리고 제안한 알고리즘은 샘플링 주파수를 결정할 때 인접 IF(intermediate frequency) 신호간의 보호대역(guard-band)이 고려되어 실제적인 하드웨어 설계 측면에 도움이 되도록 하였다. 또한 기존의 방식과의 비교를 통해 그 복잡성(complexity)및 정확성에서도 우수한 성능을 보여주었다.

위성영상을 이용한 줄포만 간석지의 미지형 분류와 지형적특성 (Micro-Landform Classification and Topographic Property of Tidal Flat in Julpo-Bay Using Satellite Image)

  • Landsat TM 위성영상을 이용하여 전라북도 줄포만 간석지의 미지형을 무감독분류의 ISODATA 기법으로서 분석한 결과 mudflat, mixed flat, sandflat 의 3지형으로 분류되었다. 각각의 미지형들은 퇴적물 입도와 지형에 있어서 상이한 특성을 나타내었으며, mudflat은 내만쪽에 위치하고 snadflat은 만의 입구 그리고 mixedflat은 그 사이에 각각 분포하였다. 각 지역의 지형특성으로는 2m 내외의 갯골이 평탄면 사이에 분포하는 mudflat과 평균기복이 10cm 이하로서 아주 평탄한 지형으로 물결무늬가 발달한 sandflat 그리고 이 양자의 중간형태를 취하는 mixedflat 으로 구분되었다. 아울러 Landsat TM의 7개의 밴드중에서 밴드 5와 7이 간석지의 미지형분류, 밴드4는 육지와 간석지의 분류 그리고 밴드 3은 해면과 간석지의 분류에 각각 효율적임이 밝혀졌다.

교통하중에 의한 상시미진동을 이용한 교량의 건전도 감시기법 (Health Monitoring Method for Bridges Using Ambient Vibration Data due to Traffic Loads)

  • This paper presents intermediate results of an on-going research for identification of the modal and the stiffness parameters of a bridge based on the ambient vibration data caused by the traffic loadings. The main algorithms consist of the random decrement method incorporating band-pass filters for estimation of the free vibration signals the cross spectral density method for identification of the modal parameters and the neural networks technique for estimation of the element-level stiffness changes. An experimental study is carried out on a scaled bridge model with a composite section subjected to various moving vehicle loadings. Vertical accelerations are measured at several locations on the girder. The estimated frequencies and mode shapes are found to be well-compared with those obtained from the impact tests. The estimated stiffness changes using the neural networks are found to be very good for the case with the simulated data. However the accuracy is found to be not quite satisfactory for the case with the experimental data particularly for the small value of the stiffness changes.

10-Gbit/s Wireless Communication System at 300 GHz

  • A 10-Gbit/s wireless communication system operating at a carrier frequency of 300 GHz is presented. The modulation scheme is amplitude shift keying in incoherent mode with a high intermediate frequency (IF) of 30 GHz and a bandwidth of 20 GHz for transmitting a 10-Gbit/s baseband (BB) data signal. A single sideband transmission is implemented using a waveguide-tapered 270-GHz high-pass filter with a lower sideband rejection of around 60 dB. This paper presents an all-electronic design of a terahertz communication system, including the major modules of the BB and IF band as well as the RF modules. The wireless link shows that, aided by a clock and data recovery circuit, it can receive $2^7$-1 pseudorandom binary sequence data without error at up to 10 Gbit/s for over 1.2 m using collimating lenses, where the transmitted power is 10 ${\mu}W$.
