An Optimized Stacked Driver for Synchronous Buck Converter

  • Half-rail stacked drivers are used to reduce power consumption of the drivers for synchronous buck converters. In this paper, the stacked driver is optimized by matching the average charging and discharging currents used by high-side and low-side drivers. By matching the two currents, the average intermediate bias voltage can remain constant without the aid of the voltage regulator as long as the voltage ripple stays within the window defined by the hysteresis of the regulator. Thus the optimized driver in this paper can minimize the power consumption in the regulator. The current matching requirement yields the value for the intermediate bias voltage, which deviates from the half-rail voltage. Furthermore the required capacitance is also reduced in this design due to decreased charging current, which results in significantly reduced die area. The detailed analysis and design of the stacked driver is verified through simulations done using 5V MOSFET parameters of a typical 0.35-${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The difference in power loss between the conventional half-rail driver and the proposed driver is less than 1%. But the conventional half-rail driver has excess charge stored in the capacitor, which will be dissipated in the regulator unless reused by an external circuit. Due to the reduction in the required capacitance, the estimated saving in chip area is approximately 18.5% compared to the half-rail driver.

  • As the data rate between chip-to-chip gets high, the skin effect and load of pins deteriorate noise margin. With these, noise disturbances on the bus channel make it difficult for receiver circuits to read the data signal. This paper has proposed a new pre-emphasis driver circuit which achieves wide noise margin by enlarging the signal voltage range during data transition. When data is transferred from a memory chip to a controller, the output boltage of the driver circuit reaches the final values through the intermediate voltage level. The proposed driver supplies more currents applicable to a packet-based memory system, because it needs no additional control signal and realizes very small area. The circuit has been designed in a 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process, and HSPICE simulation results have shown that the data rate of 1.32 Gbps be achieved. Due to its result, the proposed driver can achieved higher speed than conventional driver by 10%.

  • 인터넷의 급격한 성장과 함께 컴퓨터 통신 이용률이 폭발적으로 증가함에 따라 여러 악성코드가 등장하게 되었다. 이러한 악성코드는 시스템의 비정상 동작 유발, 네트워크 성능 저하, 개인정보유출의 문제를 발생시킨다. 현재의 악성코드 분석은 Signature 분석이 대부분이며, Signature 분석은 특정 패턴의 악성코드는 빠르게 탐지하나, 변조된 코드는 탐지하지 못하며, 이미 피해가 널리 퍼진 뒤 분석 및 차단이 가능하다는 단점을 가진다. 따라서 본 논문은 NDIS(Network Driver Interface Specification)를 이용하여 악성코드에 대해 수동적인 Signature 분석의 단점을 보완 하는 시스템 및 네트워크 상태 분석모델을 제시 하여 보다 능동적인 탐지 및 차단 프로세스를 정의하고, 모델 구현을 위한 방법을 제시한다.

개선된 charge pump 기반 정전 센싱 회로를 이용한 터치 스크린 패널 드라이버의 혼성모드 회로 분석 (Mixed-Mode Simulations of Touch Screen Panel Driver with Capacitive Sensor based on Improved Charge Pump Circuit)

  • 본 논문에서는 개선된 charge pump 회로를 이용하여 구성한 2-dimensional 터치스크린 패널 드라이버를 소개한다. 개선된 전정 센싱 회로는 charge pump 회로의 중간노드 전하 축적을 제거하여 출력 전압 표류 현상을 효과적으로 없앤다. 터치 패널 드라이버는 터치를 감지하는 아날로그 센싱 부분과 감지된 신호를 처리하는 디지털 신호 처리 부분으로 이루어진다. 제안된 터치스크린 드라이버의 동작을 확인하기 위하여 혼성 모드로 회로를 구성하고 Cadence Spectre를 이용하여 그 동작을 검증하였다. 디지털 회로 부분은 Verilog-A로 모델링하여 아날로그 회로와 인터페이스가 가능하게 하여 전체 회로 동작을 검증함으로써 혼성모드 회로 동작의 신뢰성을 확보하였고 시뮬레이션 시간을 단축할 수 있었다. 시뮬레이션 결과 개선된 전정 센싱 회로를 이용한 제안된 구조의 터치 패널 드라이버의 안정적인 동작을 확인하였다.

Topology Optimization of a HDD Actuator Arm

  • A study on the topology optimization of a Hard-Disk-Driver(HDD) actuator arm is presented. The purpose of the present wert is to increase the natural frequency of tole first lateral mode of the HDD actuator arm under the constraint of total moment of inertia, so as to facilitate the position control of the high speed actuator arm. The first lateral mode is an important factor in the position control process. Thus the topology optimization for 2-D model of the HDD actuator arm is considered. A new objective function corresponding to multieigenvalue optimization is suggested to improve the solution of the eigenvalue optimization problem. The material density of the structure is treated as the design variable and the intermediate density is penalized. The effects of different element types and material property functions on the final topology are studied. When the problem is discretized using 8-node element of a uniform density, tole smoothly-varying density field is obtained without checker-board patterns incurred. AS a result of 7he study, an improved design of the HDD actuator arm is suggested. Dynamic characteristics of the suggested design are compared computationally with those of the old design. With the same amount of the moment of inertia, the natural frequency of the first lateral mode of the suggested design is subsequently increased over the existing one.

  • A study on the topology optimization of Hard-Disk-Driver(HDD) actuator arm in free vibration is presented. The purpose of this research is to increasse the natural frequency of the first lateral mode of the HDD actuator arm under the constraint of total moment of inertia, so as to facilitate the position control of high speed actuator am.   • This paper proposes design and implementation for Seamless Handoff method between adapters in a system environment where both wired and wireless adapters are present First of all, by settingLayer 2 address of wired adapter to Layer 2address of wireless adapter, then generate virtual adapter on the above layer to make these two adapters operate on an IP address. Under the condition, when wired communication via the wired adapter gets disconnected while in service, wireless handoff occurs by mapping information on the wireless adapter to the virtual adapter. According to the method proposed in this paper, continuous session can be obtained even when handoff between wired and wireless adapters occurs at lower level in an application where both IP address and Port address are used to maintain session since If address does not change.

전동식 파워스티어링 모터소음 저감을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Motor Noise Reduction of Electric Power Steering)

  • EPS(Electric Power Steering) system, which has replaced the hydraulic steering system(HPS or HPAS) in many passenger cars recently, have many merits such as low energy consumption, easy mounting, light weight and improvement of environmental pollution. However, EPS system has the problem of motor noise when motor is rotated, which can make a driver feel uncomfortable. There are many techniques to solve those problems, but they are not clear. It is necessary to evaluate the mechanical noise in steering systems, because an EPS has vibration sources such as at the motor gear reducer, manual gears and intermediate joints. In this paper, reduction technique of EPS motor noise is introduced.

산업연관분석에 의한 정보통신산업의 경제적 파급효과 (Economic Impacts of Information and Communications Technology Industry In Korea Using Input-Output Tables)

  • This paper analyses the Korean information and communication technology supply side across the economy using 1995, 2000 and 2003 input-output tables. Input-output analysis considers inter-industry relations in an economy, depicting how the output of one industry goes to another industry where it serves as an input, and thereby makes one industry dependent on another both as customer of output and as supplier of Inputs. It can be evaluated that the recent growth of Korean ICT sector has come from the development of communication service and equipment industry and software industry. Although the high performance and positive revealed comparative advantages in ICT manufacturing sector, the value added and employment in that sector are not satisfactory. It may reflect in part high portion of imported intermediate goods in ICT manufacturing. However, it is fortunate that ICT services, which accounted for relatively high value added, induce the development of ICT manufacturing and follow strong export performance. Moreover, it is expected that the software sector with high value added and employment will be a major driver of ICT growth.

자전거 교통류의 기본 특성에 관한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study on Fundamental Characteristics of Bicycle Flows)

  • 본 연구는 자전거 교통시설의 설계 및 운영을 적절히 수행하기 위해서 반드시 필요한 자전거 교통류의 기본 특성에 대한 기초자료를 실험과 현장조사를 통하여 수집하고, 제시된 값의 교통시설 설계 및 운영에 대한 활용방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구는 자전거 교통류의 가장 기본이 되는 연속류 상태를 대상으로 속도-밀도-교통량의 관계와 용량값, 단속류 상태에서의 포화교통류율에 대한 결과값과 방법론을 제시하였으며, 곡선 반경에 따른 속도의 변화에 대한 조사와 자전거의 주행영역에 대한 조사도 실시하였다. 조사결과 연속류 시설의 경우 실험조건하에서의 교통용량은 약 5000대/시/차로이며, 단속류 시설의 경우 포화교통류율은 실험조건하에서 약 3000대/시/차로의 값을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 곡선을 주행하는 자전거의 경우 반경이 증가할수록 속도의 증가가 발생하나 반경이 20m를 기준으로 반경의 증가여부에 상관없이 자전거의 속도는 더 이상 증가하지 않음을 보였다. 자전거가 통행시 자전거 당 차지할 수 있는 면적에 따른 주행의 용이성을 자전거 운전자의 주행 영역으로 표시하였는데 점유면적이 0.96m$\times$2.47m 이하일 경우 자전거 운전자는 충돌의 위험을 느끼게 되며, 2.21m$\times$4.1m 이상일 경우에는 쾌적한 상태에서의 통행이 가능한 것으로 조사되었다.
