  • This paper presents an interleaving scheme for parallel-connected power systems to reduce the DC-link current ripple. A paralleled generator system generates current ripple by the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) of each generator side converter. The current ripple in the DC-link degrades the efficiency of the whole generator system and decreases the lifetime of the DC-link capacitors. To mitigate these issues, the expression of the DC-link current is derived by a double-integral Fourier analysis while considering the modulation schemes. Optimized interleaving angles for the parallel generator system are obtained based on an analysis to minimize the dominant current harmonics component. Finally, the proposed interleaving scheme reduces the RMS value of the DC-link current ripple. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed interleaving scheme.

  • A new diversity combining scheme is proposed for time-of-arrival (TOA) estimation of chirp signal in dense multipath channel. In the multipath channel, the performance of TOA estimation using conventional correlation matrix-based diversity combining scheme is degraded due to the lack of de-correlation effect. To increase the de-correlation effect, the proposed diversity scheme employs interleaving method based on the property of de-chirped signal. As a result, the proposed scheme increases de-correlation effect and also reduces the noise of TOA estimation. Finally, the diversity achieved from the proposed scheme improves TOA estimation performance. The de-correlation effect is analyzed mathematically. The estimation accuracy of the proposed diversity scheme is superior to that of conventional diversity scheme in multipath channel.

  • The performance of space-frequency trellis coded (SFTC) OFDM system is analyzed in frequency selective fading channel. Using a pairwise error probability upper bound expression, we design the code and interleaver that can maximize the diversity and coding gain. To alleviate the performance degradation due to the inter-antenna product terms, we propose a new SFTC scheme that employs non-overlapped interleaving for each antenna A new code is optimized for the non-overlapped interleaving and a practical sub-optimal decoding algorithm is proposed. It is shown that the proposed scheme can substantially improve the performance compared to the conventional scheme that employs identical interleaving for all antennas.

  • Interleaving techniques are widely used to reduce input/output ripples and to increase the power capacity of boost converters operating in critical conduction mode. Two types of phase-shift control schemes are studied in this paper, the turn-on time shifting method and the turn-off time shifting method. It is found that although the turn-off time shifting method exhibits better performance, it suffers from sub-harmonic oscillations at high input voltages. To solve this problem, an intensive quantitative analysis of the sub-harmonic oscillation phenomenon is made in this paper. Based upon that, a novel modified turn off time shifting control scheme for interleaved boost converters operating in critical conduction mode is proposed. An important advantage of this scheme is that both the master phase and the slave phase can operate stably in critical conduction mode without any oscillations in the full input voltage range. This method is implemented with a FPGA based digital PWM control platform, and tests were carried out on a two-phase interleaved boost PFC converter prototype. Experimental results demonstrated the feasibility and performance of the proposed phase-shift control scheme.

  • With increasing the using of wireless technologies in essential fields such as the medical application, this paper proposes different scenarios for the transmission of images over wireless networks. The paper uses the IEEE ZigBee 802.15.4 for applying the proposed schemes. It is a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN). This paper presents a novel chaotic interleaving scheme against error bursts. Also, the paper studies the proposed interleaver with the convolutional code with different constraint lengths (K). A comparison study between the standard scheme and proposed schemes for image transmission over a correlated fading channel is presented. The simulation results show the superiority of the proposed chaotic interleaving scheme over the traditional schemes. Also, the chaotic interleaver packet-by-packet basis gives a high quality image with (K=3) and reduces the need for the complex encoder with K=7.

  • In this paper, a synchronized stream encryption system for secure link layer communication in a radio channel is designed. Interleaving scheme which is used to enhance the transmission performance over a fading channel is applied to the encrypted information. A designed synchronous scream cipher system consists of a keystream generator, a synchronization pattern generator and a session key generator. The structure of a synchronous stream cipher system with periodic synchronization is composed of the encrypted information which consists of a synchronization pattern, an error correcting coded session key, an encrypted data in a period of synchronization. In this paper, interleaving scheme using dynamic allocation a1gorithm(DAA) is applied the encrypted information. The BER of the DAA has been slightly higher than that of the SAA(static allocation algorithm).

  • In this paper, the dual-mode burst-error-correcting decoding algorithm is adapted to the multiple trellis-coded .pi./4 shift QPSK in order to achieve the improvement of bit error rate (BER) performance over fading channels. The dual-mode adaptive decoder which combines maximum likelihood decoding with a burst detection scheme usually operates as a Viterbi decoder and switches to time diversity error recovery whenever an uncorrectable error pattern is identified. Rayleigh fading channels and Rician fading channels having the Rician parameter K=5dB are used in computer simulation, and the simulation results are compared with those of interleaving techniques. It is shown that under the constraint of the fixed overall memory quantity, the dual-mode adaptive decoding scheme gains an advantage in the BER performance with respect to interleaving strategies.

  • We propose to apply chip interleaving and iterative detection to self-encoded multiple access (SEMA) communications. In SEMA, the spreading code is obtained from user bit information itself without using a pseudo noise code generator. The proposed scheme exploits the inherent diversity in self encoded spread spectrum signals. Chip interleaving not only increases the diversity gain, but also enhances the performance of iterative detection. We employ user-mask and interference cancellation to decouple self-encoded multiuser signals. This paper describes the proposed scheme and analyzes its performance. The analytical and simulation results show that the proposed system can achieve a 3 dB power gain and possess a diversity gain that can yield a significant performance improvement in both Rayleigh and multipath fading channels.
