This study has been designed to explore the preferences of interior space for those living in apartment housing. It also examines the relationships between preferences of interior space, such as storage space, organization type of LDK(the living room, the dining room, and kitchen), space facing south, an interior garden, the concept of each room and the characteristics of the consumers, such as age, educational background employment status of homemakers, occupation of the primary income provider, family-life cycle, total household income, the size of floor space, and homeownership. In conclusion, this study suggests that at the time of designing apartment housing units, serious consideration should be given to the built-in closets or storage space in the anbang and to the location of a child's room facing to the south of the dwelling, especially for the families with a child attending primary school or younger and higher education level of homemaker. This study also recommends that the organization of the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen should be varied according to the housing size and the age of homemaker.

This study analyse the quantitative relationships between the compositive factors of the residential interior space in the view point of physical aspects. The proposed analytical methods are focused on finding the quantitative relationships between the human dimensions of the static and dynamic life style situations and the compositive factors of the architectural interior spaces. As a result, the major analystical methods are ; the analysis of Space-human Body System for finding the quantitative relationships between the human dimensions and the order of architectural structures ; the analysis of Space-Objects-Human Body System for finding the quantitiative relationships between the human dimensions and furniture dimensions of the interior space ; the analysis of Space-Objects - Life Activities of Human Body System for finding the quantitative relation ships between the human dimensions of daily or non daily life activities including static furniture systems.

"I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." (John Muir, 1938) Building interior and urban interior is understood as a single concept of interior: "the outside is always an inside" (Le Corbusier, 1929). Both are thus related to each other, and under the same system of meaning. Architecture comes from the making of an interior. A city comes out of the making of another interior felt as an undeniable inner demand; a street is "a community room by agreement" (Kahn, 1971) and a square is an open aesthetic room by agreement of community. Urban interior that contains our public life-world is an extension of the concept of interior that building interior contains our private/semipublic life-world. This paper explores the idea of interior and urban interior through literature research. The first site the paper traces is the physical interior, space, and place to figure out their meanings. The second site this paper illustrates is the transposition of the physical interior and the psychic interior, which influences the physical space where we create our own life-world. The last site the paper clarifies is the development of the idea of urban interior and the contextual rationale of urban interior. This ramble from building interior to urban interior discloses a twofold singular interior of both the building and urban interior that explains the meanings of interior, the scopes of interior, and the objects of interior to design and create interior.

This study aimed to evaluate how universal design principles are embodied in the Public Service Center. It will be used for planning the basic materials of the interior environmental design for Public Service Center facilities and for developing ways to improve interior environments in order for them to be conveniently used. In studying a method, we conducted an Universal Design check list to evaluate interior environment, targeting five Public Service Center facilities located in Gwangju Metropolitan city. This study investigated the Universal Design suitability of center interior Public Service Center on the basis of the tools for Universal Design check list which was composed of supportive design, adaptable design, communicability, safety-oriented design, and accessible design. Through theoretically considering the services of Gwangju's old city hall public service center, which got divided into common space, public service space, waiting space and informative material space. Evaluation on universal design application level showed that those with best universal design application are supportiveness and safety in public service space, communication efficacy and safety in waiting space and safety and accessibility in informative material space and acceptability in waiting space had the lowest application level.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the elements forming interior design and to examine dimensional relationship among the elements which form space through the comparison of the spatial language and semiotics of space for the component of interior design. In addition to that it indtends to derive the principle of design which dominate interior design and the inherent diversified meaning by comparing those elements with the square of semiotic used in semiotics. Through this comparsion the meaning of constituent forming space which can be observed through the comparsion of square of semiotic has redefined flexbility among relational system of elements and this flexible concept make the scope of environment including human being broad and enriched. This study fist of all analyzes various phenomena of social culture review semiotics meta-learning and examines back theoretical ground of semiotics which is needed for space analysis. Second of all in the area of presenting an analysis tool for meaningful analysis this report introduces the square of semiotics which was invented,. A. J. Greimas in order to analyze the meaning of literary work and defind three categories of the progressive research method for the analysis of interior design and research itself. Finally as for the analysis of meaning for interior design this report sets the space and analyzed the space in accordance with the method and research procedure. being

Recently, Townhouse has emerged as a blue ocean of real estate market in Korea. In designing town houses, which are luxurious suburban houses centered around the capital area, the construction companies are using 'designer marketing' in which they hire interior designers and architects and express various styles of design in the interior space of the town houses. Therefore, this study examined the unit-family cases of Korean townhouses and analyzed the expression characteristics of design in the interior space of the town houses built after 2000 in terms of their spatial, morphological, material, and color aspect. "The extensibility of space" and "variableness of space" seem to have the same meaning, but they turned out to be not related to each other due to the particularity of houses. "The extensibility of space" turned out to show its characteristics via "the use of transparent materials." "Minimal form" utilizes the unified "achromatic and simple colors" to emphasize the simplicity and in some cases, highlights the use of original colors. The interior space of the townhouses expresses the traditional or heterosexual oriental image through "the use of natural materials," and they point out the "oriental form" through the controlled beauty expressed by using oriental components and "achromatic and simple colors."

Sustainable interior design elements are related with human health. We know that a demand for environmental-friendly housing and all about the others demanding are for human health. We have to make up basement of natural environment for sustainable space composition. If natural environment is polluted that surrounded by human, we have to effort to revive without any pollution. We have to get accomplished stability, comfortable, security, convenience and organize interior design elements for sustainable space to enhance for the quality of life. Furthermore, it needs to get a respect lifestyle on personal. To study composing of the sustainable interior design, we arranged interior design elements to compose sustainable space of housing. We investigated how to compose energy-efficiency, sustainable, interior tree-planting, alterable of the space.

This study aims from being meaning of centrality to possibility of space composition in the Contemporary Interior Space os forming of center and way of being. There it is studied analysed architect's work on character of certrality. This study mentiones not as analysis of location and perception aspect on uabanism but as various forming and changing in the contemporary interior space composition. it is definitioned as centrality in architecture space which is base in the course of congiting and organizing and is core space in forming area, It is moaned not as Euclidean plan but as three demeasional vector space in space express architectual space exists except for perception of human and takes center and direction in perculiarly.

The existential space concept which introduced the sense of place that began emerging recently together with the change of space concept results from people's fundamental existential humane aspect as the subject of perceptive experience. The tendencies of enlargement layering and diversification which we can see in contemporary architecture imply the possibility that elements of urban image can be incorporated into interior design. This study utilizes Kevin Lynch's theory which tries to relate environment to existential space. In this study we re-analyze and apply Lynch's $\ulcorner$the Theory of Urban Image$\lrcorner$to interior space and using the conclusion from a case study examine the applicability of the theory about visual perception to interior design. This study considers a new method of analysis to perceive and grasp interior space through the understanding of the cognitive map and image concept.

When one speaks of space in architecture, one immediately thinks of an entity that is an enclosed space. For most people , space is therefore equated with interior space. And in most discussions of architectural space the character of the outside and that of the inside have been strictly differentiated. But architectural space must be construed as a total , integral space. In this way , architectural space can articulate naturality. For example, by reasserting the eloquence of architecture and by graphically characterizing the different parts of the building. Ungers has moved far away from the traditional ideas of a modern movement that preached the homogeneity of all parts. so promoting uniformity and an expressionless monotony. From this perspective comes the purpose of this study which is to present :1. the character and meaning of the boundary that differentiates the outside from the inside of the architecture. 2. the types of the organization of the interior-space and the differences between those types. 3. the new concept of the interior -space through the analysis of the concept "Haus im Haus" that over-comes the polarity of the outside and the inside of ar-chitecture. This result comes from the idea that harmony is a-chieved not by resolving this polarity into one or the other extreme, but by allowing coexistence of both as-pects.
