  • In this paper, we predicted the radiation field strength from the low power radio devices to force the radio interference on the AMPS receiver. The predicted value of 79.13[$dB{\mu}V/m$] is the upper value of radiation against the intermodulation interference emanated from the low power radio devices. To show the validity of the suggested values theoretical analysis on intermodulation and modeling of the AMPS receiver are performed, and also measurements on the AMPS receiver IC are carried out. The resultant numerals show the good match between them within the allowable tolerances.

  • In this paper, a technique is proposed that enables secondary users to evaluate channel availability in cognitive radio networks. Here, secondary users estimate the utilization of channels via predicting the traffic pattern of primary user, and select a proper channel for radio transmission. The proposed technique reduces the channel switching rate of secondary users (the rate of switching from one channel to another) and the interference on primary users, while maintaining a reasonable call blocking rate of secondary users.

  • We developed a computer program to predict solar interference period. To calculate Sun's position, we used DE406 ephemerides and Earth ellipsoid model. The Sun's position error is smaller than 10arcsec. For the verification of the calculation, we used TU media ground station on Seongsu-dong, and MBSAT geostationary communication satellite. We analysis errors, due to satellite perturbation and antenna align. The time error due to antenna align has -35 to +16 seconds at $0.1^{\circ}$, and -27 to +41 seconds at $0.25^{\circ}$. The time errors derived by satellite perturbation has 30 to 60 seconds.

  • In a CR (cognitive radio) network, channel selection is one of the important issues for the efficient channel utilization. When the CR user exploits the spectrum of primary network, the interference to the primary network should be minimized. In this paper, we propose a spectrum hole prediction based channel selection scheme to minimize the interference to the primary network. To predict spectrum hole, statistic properties of primary user's traffic is used. By using the predicted spectrum hole, channel is selected and it can reduce the possibility of interference to the primary user and increase the efficiency of spectrum utilization. The performance of proposed channel selection scheme is evaluated by the computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose a residual echo and noise reduction scheme for hands-free telephony applications. The proposed algorithm uses a noise robust modified AP algorithm which estimate well echo path in noisy and whitens residual echo signal using linear prediction at non double-talk duration. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from acoustic interference cancellation (AIC) viewpoint.

  • An analytical scheme for predicting the crack aspect pattern of materials which contain twin surface cracks was developed. Fatigue tests were performed on twin surface cracked PMMA plate specimens to obtain the interaction factor accounting for the interference effect of adjacent cracks. Here, the interaction factor is defined as the ratio of the stress intensity factor for twin surface cracks to that for a single surface crack. From the analysis of the fatigue test result, the interaction factor was presented as the ninth-order polynomial expression having a function of dimensionless crack spacing ratio. Then the polynomial expression was incorporated into the prediction program of the crack aspect pattern for twin surface cracked materials. And, the interaction effect and the coalescence condition of adjacent cracks were simplified in the newly developed prediction scheme of the crack aspect pattern. The predicted crack growth pattern using the prediction scheme was compared with test data from PMMA specimen. The predicted pattern agreed well with the test data.

  • By using the radio propagation prediction of Rec. ITU-R P.1546, geographic information system, and S-I plane, we presented the methodology of interference analysis based on the minimum coupling loss, and also suggested the local coordinate system for calculating azimuth and elevation angles between the victim receiver and the interferer for an arbitrary antenna pattern. To check the presented algorithm, the map with the land-sea mixed area was taken for the given area of $80{\times}60[km^2]$ as real geography information. Field strength, path profile, and protection ratio with maximum allowable interference level have been illustrated for radar and fixed wireless system for the assumed frequency. In addition interference power of the victim receiver was calculated asa function of azimuth and elevation angles of the interferer. The developed methodology of interference analysis in the VHF and UHF bands can be actually applied to assess interoperability as well as compatibility in the civil or military applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a residual echo and noise reduction scheme by using linear predictor for hands-free telephony applications. The proposed scheme whitens residual echo by the linear prediction during the non double-talk. But whitened residual echo signal still has speech characteristics. In this scheme, the whitened residual echo signal is more whitened by using the power of the linear prediction error signal and the linear predicted signal. After whitening process, near-end speech and ambient noise is present during double-talk but white noise will appear during non double-talk situation. By linearly predicting again the combined signal of the near-end speech and the whitened signal, the ambient noise is removed. Through computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed method performs well at the side of AIC (acoustic interference cancellation).

  • In this paper, we propose a novel scheduling algorithm for downlink transmission which utilizes scarce wireless resource efficiently in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access/Time Division Duplex system. Scheduling schemes which exploit channel information between a Base Station and terminals have been proposed recently for improved performance. Time series analysis is used to estimate the channel state of mobile terminals. The predicted information is then used for prioritized scheduling of downlink transmissions for improved throughput, delay and jitter performance. Through simulation, we show that the total throughput and mean delay of the proposed scheduling algorithm are improved compared with those of the Proportional Fairness and Maximum Carrier to Interference Ratio schemes.

  • Three-dimensional solid model has not been widely used in surgical prediction of orthognathic surgery because frequent artifacts from occlusal restorations or prosthesis limited the usefulness of simulated surgery involving occlusion. We prepared three-dimensional(3D) solid model from CT data and integrated the 3D solid model with dental cast using a face-bow transfer technique combined with skeletal reference measurement and confirmation with cephalometric radiographs. With this simple and easy method, it was possible to predict bony interference between the proximal and distal segment of the mandible so that we can prevent condylar displacement after sagittal split ramus osteotomy of the mandible with prominent asymmetry. The method error was within 2mm and it seemed to be useful in preoperative planning for maxillofacial surgery with maxillo-mandibular occlusal change.
